Choosing to cook at ho wasn’t just to nourish An Mingji’s body; even she wasn’t very fond of outside food.
State-owned restaurants either used too much oil, or small eateries were too stingy with it, and then so just lacked skill.
The cafeteria als were okay, but Gu Jin always felt they weren’t as tasty as what she made herself.
The food at the Haijiang Hotel was good, but you could easily spend a hundred or so on a simple al.
When Gu Jin returned ho, she thought An Mingji would be there already, but there was no sign of him.
Duoduo was lying in its small nest, making a whining sound at Gu Jin.
As if complaining that the person it was waiting for had not co ho and it had no one to play with.
Gu Jin closed the door, walked over to Duoduo, and bent down to gently stroke its head.
She intended to comfort it a bit, but the next mont Duoduo turned around and showed her its backside.
Gu Jin was amused and swallowed the words of comfort that were at the tip of her tongue.
She jokingly scolded it for being ungrateful, then got up and headed to the kitchen.
She washed her hands, put on an apron, checked the ingredients at ho, and selected the vegetables for dinner to clean...
An hour later, she had dishes with balanced nutrition and great color, aroma, and taste on the table, but the boy who was supposed to be ho still hadn’t returned.
Gu Jin took off her apron, washed her hands, and walked to the living room.
Standing in front of the living room window, she watched as the sky gradually turned darker.
Coincidentally, just as she was looking downstairs, she saw a boy riding a mountain bike entering the community.
The heart that had been worried gradually settled down; it was good that he was back.
Gu Jin returned to the kitchen, cut two big pieces of fresh at for Duoduo, put them in its bowl, and ladled so at stew into another bowl.
Just as she brought it to Duoduo, the door was opened from outside with a key.
The boy, a bit dirty and sweaty, just walked into the house.
Noticing the dirt on An Mingji’s school uniform, Gu Jin raised an eyebrow.
This was the first ti since her rebirth that she had seen him in such a disheveled state.
Though she had been worried, the excitent and thrill on the boy’s face dispelled all her concerns.
Gu Jin didn’t ask what had happened.
Seeing that the boy wasn’t injured ant he hadn’t suffered any loss.
She nodded her chin towards the boy: "Go wash up, dinner will be ready soon."
"Okay!"
An Mingji put his dirty backpack on the ground and imdiately rushed into his room, quickly grabbing a change of clothes and heading to the bathroom.
This whole series of actions had Gu Jin feeling helpless but amused.
It was rare to see a child so lively, making him seem more full of life.
Lowering her gaze, Gu Jin noticed the dirty backpack on the floor and picked it up.
Thinking that An Mingji would need it tomorrow, she emptied the contents onto the sofa table.
The backpack contained textbooks, a pencil case, so crafts, and so doodled paper.
Gu Jin placed them on the table and was about to take the empty bag to the balcony to wash it clean.
Just as she was about to leave, she noticed a pink piece of paper peeking out from a book, though barely visible, it was too conspicuous.
This was clearly not sothing the boy should have.
Gu Jin stood still, her lips slightly pursed.
She hesitated, wondering whether to open and look at it or ignore it and turn away.
Thinking of the smile and excitent on the boy’s face when he ca ho, Gu Jin sighed and put down the backpack, opening the book.
The pink, girlish stationary erged, and it was an envelope-free... love letter of confession.
