"Growl—"
As Wanqi Yihai’s hand approached Duoduo, Duoduo emitted a dangerous growl.
Faced with such a large creature, Wanqi Yihai imdiately pulled his hand back.
No matter how fond he was, he wouldn’t joke about his own safety.
Gu Jin patted Duoduo’s head and said with a smile, "It’s called Duoduo, it doesn’t like strangers touching it."
"Alright," Wanqi Yihai said, visibly disappointed.
Glancing at the suitcase beside Gu Jin, he asked, "If there’s nothing else, shall we set off now? We can probably reach Beijing before dark."
"The sooner we leave, the sooner we’ll arrive. Let’s go."
Wanqi Yihai, showing great initiative, lifted the suitcase and placed it in the back of the SUV.
Gu Jin, An Mingji, Duoduo, and Wanqi Yihai sat in the sa car.
The vehicle they were in slowly drove out of the community, escorted by two SUVs at the front and back.
Sitting in the car, Gu Jin petted Duoduo’s fur, which was resting beside her, and inadvertently glanced at Wanqi Yihai.
The other’s complexion looked better than it did last night, but he still had the appearance of soone who had just recovered from a serious illness.
Wanqi Yihai looked up, eting Gu Jin’s scrutinizing gaze, and smiled, "I would say misfortune turned into a blessing for this ti. I’ve already told my uncle everything that happened yesterday. Knowing that I would be bringing you back, he has gathered the family to prepare to welco you."
"I’m flattered," Gu Jin replied with a smile.
She appeared calm and composed, not the least bit surprised.
"It’s only fitting, you are quite an honored guest of the Wanqi Family."
Gu Jin gave a small smile without speaking. Wearing such a high hat, taking it off wouldn’t be easy.
She had only agreed to help refine the elixir and et the Wanqi Family’s ancestor.
As for those eyeing the Wanqi Family from the shadows, she had no intention of intervening.
One must be self-aware; without power or influence, how could she easily invite trouble? Unless it was a decisive blow, she would never act lightly.
...
As Gu Jin boarded the SUV heading to Beijing, Steward Zhen once again arrived in Wanhai City.
This ti, he did not co alone; he brought Gu Jin’s biological parents along with him.
Zhen Youzhi, a moderately well-known businessman from the Zhen Family in Beijing, though with modest fa, could be crushed by any influential family in Beijing.
And He Yuchun, Gu Jin’s birth mother, was dressed in riches and appeared to be well-maintained.
Steward Zhen personally led the way, and a black sedan slowly stopped beneath the building where Gu Jin lived.
The three of them got out of the car and stood in front of it, observing the neighborhood, which seed destitute to them.
"She lives here?"
He Yuchun spoke with distaste. For her daughter, whom she hadn’t seen in over a decade, she felt more contempt for the house in front of her than longing.
"Yes, madam. The young lady bought this property two years ago. I personally tracked down the salesperson responsible for this area back then. I even learned from them that the young lady owns three or four dozen properties like this, according to what they know."
The last sentence left much room for speculation.
Zhen Youzhi was inford about this beforehand; He Yuchun was not aware in the slightest.
She was told last night to co to Wanhai, specifically postponing her card gas for the next few days.
Hearing that her daughter owned so many properties, she looked surprised, "Are you serious?"
"Yes, madam, I’m quite certain."
He Yuchun reacted with great amazent, "Where did that child get so much money?"
This was also what Zhen Youzhi and Steward Zhen wanted to find out.
They were unfamiliar with Wanhai City and its connections, making it hard to investigate many things.
