The middle-aged man showed a pleading look on his face: "Brother, please let in, I’m here to find a relative. I won’t do anything, I’ll leave as soon as I find them."

"You can’t even provide a door number, how can I let you in?"

The gatekeeper wasn’t completely unfeeling; the main issue was that the middle-aged man in front of him was very suspicious. He said he was here to find a relative but couldn’t provide a door number.

If he really let the man in and sothing happened, losing his job would be the least of his worries. If anything else happened, it would be too much trouble for him to handle.

The people living here were either rich or noble; he couldn’t afford to make any mistakes.

The middle-aged man had a bitter expression, took one last look at the Left Bank Pavilion, and then turned to leave.

...

Left Bank Water Pavilion A District, sixth floor.

An Mingji, who went out to buy soy sauce, opened the door.

The house was filled with the mouthwatering aroma of delicious food.

He set his skateboard aside in the corner behind the door, carried the soy sauce bottle, and walked towards the kitchen.

"A Jin, the soy sauce’s back."

Gu Jin, who was cooking in the kitchen, called out, "Bring it in!"

An Mingji walked into the kitchen and considerately opened the soy sauce bottle, handing it to Gu Jin who was cooking.

The latter took it, poured a few drops into the stir-fry, then placed the soy sauce bottle on the counter, stirring the food in the pan with a spatula.

The cooked greens were placed on a plate, and Gu Jin glanced at the young man standing in the kitchen, "You should go out, the kitchen is smoky, you’ll end up slling like it."

"No worries, I just got all sweaty after going out for a bit, I’ll take a shower later."

Hearing this, Gu Jin didn’t insist further.

She cleaned the pan, placed it on the lit gas stove, and heated it with oil.

She poured minced garlic, ginger, and scallions from a bowl on the side into the pan to sauté until fragrant, then added the fresh shrimp from a nearby drainer into the pan to stir-fry.

The fresh shrimp sizzled as it hit the hot oil.

Gu Jin stepped back to avoid splattering oil.

She reached for a bottle of cooking wine and poured it into the pan, followed by so light soy sauce, soy sauce, added so water, then increased the heat and covered the pan to simr.

"The food’s ready, go wash your hands for dinner."

"Got it—"

An Mingji washed his hands, served the rice, opened the fridge, took out two cans of soda, and placed them on the dining table.

The soy sauce shrimp in the pan was almost done simring; Gu Jin opened the lid, and the enticing aroma of the soy sauce shrimp wafted out.

She added so sugar to the pan, sprinkled so chopped scallions, then transferred it to a plate and placed it on the dining table.

On the table were a plate of greens, stir-fried tomatoes with eggs, shredded potatoes in vinegar, along with the soy sauce shrimp.

There was also a corn and carrot soup, making it quite a feast for two people.

Gu Jin said with a smile, "Let’s start eating!"

After she sat down, An Mingji handed her an opened can of soda.

Gu Jin took it, drank heartily, then picked up her chopsticks and began to eat.

They had been in Beijing for five days.

These days, they had been busy setting up their new ho.

The house at Left Bank Pavilion was a gift from Wanqi Heyang.

The Wanqi Family also furnished all the appliances and furniture.

However, cleaning up the upstairs and downstairs and sorting out the luggage they brought from Wanhai City had taken them several days.

This afternoon, they finally finished organizing and decided to celebrate a bit.

Gu Jin, using the available ingredients, planned to make a nice al but found out there was no soy sauce at ho.

She asked An Mingji to go to the supermarket downstairs to buy soy sauce.

"Try this soy sauce shrimp, is it delicious?"

Gu Jin placed a piece of soy sauce shrimp into An Mingji’s bowl.
