But just as his hand was about to touch the clothes, he noticed his hands were dirty, covered in dirt and faint bloodstains, and quickly drew them back.
Seeing this, Gu Jin understood the child was afraid of dirtying the clothes.
She sighed softly, placed the clothes to the side, and turned to pick up the enal basin from the rack in the corner, walking out of the room.
An Mingji raised his head and saw only Gu Jin’s departing back, his eyes reddening.
Is he being despised?
He reached out and rubbed his slightly sore eyes.
He was used to it; there was nothing to be disappointed about.
An Mingji got up from the bed, picked up his discarded dirty clothes, and when he saw the clean clothes set aside, a touch of reluctance flashed in his eyes.
Since his father’s death, his mother ran away with soone, and his grandmother passed, he hadn’t worn clean clothes.
An Mingji’s eyes reddened; he bit his lip and looked away from the clean clothes, trying to put on the dirty ones he had in hand.

Gu Jin entered the room carrying clean water from the outdoor well and quickly spoke out to stop the child from putting on the dirty clothes.
