An Mingji hurriedly walked to An Feng, squatted down, and held her hands resting on her knees.

"You scared to death!"

An Feng’s complexion was pale, her body increasingly fragile, no longer as robust as before.

She returned An Mingji’s grip, looked up, and glanced at Gu Jin who just walked in.

"Jin girl is here too."

Gu Jin nodded at An Feng, scrutinizing her from top to bottom, noticing that her body wasn’t completely shrouded in a deathly aura.

Seeing that An Feng was temporarily fine, she breathed a deep sigh of relief.

On the way here, little An had been silent, exuding a dark aura and on the verge of tears, which made her heart ache terribly.

She worried that if sothing really happened to An Feng, little An would be very upset.

An Feng beckoned to Gu Jin: "Jin girl, co over."

Gu Jin walked towards her, a gentle smile gracing her face: "It’s good you’re alright."

As she approached, An Feng held her hand, her weary face showing concern: "I can still hold on for a while, but I can’t stop worrying about you two kids."

She placed An Mingji’s hand together with Gu Jin’s, asking, "I heard you two quarreled this morning?"

"..." Gu Jin.

"..." An Mingji.

They both turned their heads to look at Allen standing in the hall.

He dared not look at them, persistently staring at the potted plant in the distance, as if there were a flower on it.

The seriousness indeed looked convincing.

If not for his stiff expression, one might really think he was captivated by the potted plant.

This was clearly a sign of a guilty conscience.

An Mingji pressed down on Gu Jin’s hand, his fingers gently curled her hand back, Gu Jin returned to her senses.

The two exchanged glances, a tacit understanding flashing in their eyes.

An Mingji’s displeased expression softened, as he looked at An Feng in the wheelchair, a gentle smile on his lips, "No, Auntie, A Jin and I didn’t quarrel."

An Feng, having lived a long life, could easily notice the interactions between these two young ones, whose combined ages didn’t exceed hers.

She showed a kindly smile, her eyes gazing at Gu Jin: "Really didn’t quarrel?"

Gu Jin shook her head at her: "Really not, little An and I would never quarrel."

Today, they could only be considered as having a cold war.

As for quarreling, Gu Jin couldn’t imagine what it would look like for the two of them to quarrel.

Her beautiful eyes were full of sincerity, mixed with a hint of helplessness in her gaze.

She was just having a cold war with An Mingji, and An Feng had received the news, even calling them in this manner.

"Auntie, don’t listen to what people below say carelessly, A Jin and I are impossible to quarrel."

An Mingji used his other free hand to gently pat An Feng’s hand, a gentle smile in his eyes and brows.

An Feng sighed with concern: "As long as there was no quarrel, that’s good. My old bones can’t hold on for much longer, and the thing I worry about the most if I go is you, you child have endured too much hardship, keeping everything bottled up inside, truly makes one’s heart ache."

Hearing her say this, An Mingji felt a bit sad.

He also knew that Auntie’s body was deteriorating and couldn’t hold on for much longer.

In the past year of interacting, this elder had taught him many things, including thods he had never encountered before.

Though their ti together was short, his feelings for An Feng were a familial bond that extended deeply through blood and bone.

Especially since her appearance was so similar to his late grandmother.

Sensing the boy’s sadness and sorrow, An Feng raised her hand to gently stroke his black hair.

She turned her head to look at Gu Jin, a weak smile on her face, her gaze dropping to the Jade Ring on her finger, a wise gleam flickering through her eyes.
