Zhang Yang didn’t need to look to know that the wrist of the guy nad Xiao Lin was, at the very least, fractured. He had smashed it with a beer bottle earlier.
After the police had confird the injury briefly, they gathered everyone to head downstairs to the station for statents.
At this mont, two Iveco vans peeled into the entrance, followed by a group of thugs in their thirties.
Compared to the young guys brought by Brother Ma, the people coming out of the Iveco were of much higher quality. You could tell they had different vibes — big bald heads, scars on their foreheads, white gloves on their hands. They got out and opened the trunk to distribute pickaxe handles.
In this scenario, the police and the people called by Brother Ma ran into each other on the first floor.
This group reacted swiftly. As soon as they saw the police, they turned around without a word of nonsense and left.
"Hey, they really brought people! These guys look like they’re sothing!"
Wang Yan tilted his head, glancing at the thugs leaving, showing no signs of fear, instead carrying a critical tone.
"Don’t shout randomly; you’ll get cuffed!" The officer looked at Wang Yan, tone slightly unhappy.
"Hey, Officer, what do you an by that! I was fighting, not killing! If it’s mutual assault, at worst it’s just fifteen days of detention, right? Can you sentence to death for that! I’m not running, threatening with cuffs is just excessive!"
Wang Yan continued his social butterfly antics, even provoking the officer.
A thug who’s cultured is what you fear most. Upon seeing Wang Yan’s stubbornness, the officer wasn’t in the mood to continue chatting. He called his unit downstairs, asking coworkers to drive over for pick-up.
The people called by Brother Ma turned around and got in their vehicles after eting the police, but did not leave imdiately. Now their cars were just waiting across the street. Based on Zhang Yang’s experience, once things were settled at the station, these guys might co back for revenge.
Zhang Yang lightly nudged ng Fan’s shoulder and asked quietly, "Where did you call for help? Those thugs seem to know these police!"
ng Fan judged the situation similarly to Zhang Yang. Facing off like this, turning away without saying a word, no questions, no interceptions from the cops — clearly, sothing was off.
ng Fan replied, "From the WZ departnt in W City! Soone will be here soon to take us out, we’re not under local jurisdiction!"
"Whoa! Nice, huh? That impressive?"
"If you want to be an emperor, have the harem, dare to hit them, don’t fear their revenge! These street thugs are empowered, but if they follow us to the district base, we can dismantle their vehicle wheels!"
...
Ten minutes later, Zhang Yang and the rest were taken by police cars to the district police station. Two batches of people ended up in different rooms for statent taking.
It was just a simple fight; no one seriously injured, so the police weren’t overly tense. They handled it as a routine response.
A dozen minutes later, while statents were still being taken, two off-road vehicles with military plates from W City drove up to the police station.
Two n dressed like officers stepped out, holding a docunt, and directly led ng Fan’s group out of the station.
Once in the vehicle, Wang Yan looked around, sowhat bewildered, and asked, "Is this it? We’re leaving, what about follow-up?"
ng Fan took out a cigarette, handed one to the army officer in the front seat, and said with a grin, "Follow-up? What follow-up? Any issue, coordinate with the WZ departnt!"
Wang Yan: "What coordination is needed for that? It’s just a regular fight, with superficial injuries. ng Fan, your connections are pretty solid, huh?"
ng Fan grinned, turned to the driver, and said, "Driver, please make a loop around the Iveco parked across the road! These guys called for more people, ready to hit us again. Let’s give them another chance!"
The driver, a smart person, grinned, showing his white teeth, and indeed picked a place to turn, and drove around the opponent’s Iveco as ng Fan instructed.
When the car passed the Iveco, ng Fan rolled down the window.
"Tell Ma Weiqi, I’m ng Fan, from W City! For the fight today, I’ll take responsibility. If you want revenge, I’ll welco you anyti! Soldier, let’s go!"
With a roar of the engine, the off-road vehicle drove away swiftly.
In the Iveco, the big brother of Brother Ma’s helpers was dumbfounded upon seeing Zhang Yang’s group getting onto the military vehicle!
The local units and the military belong to two different systems. Brother Ma indeed has connections in the police system, and had already gotten a warning over the phone.
But now look, the military vehicle took the people away, leaving just a slip at the station as an explanation.
Their connections reach the sky — what’s the use of fighting them? They might end up getting themselves in trouble.
What do you an this pick-up is non-compliant with procedures?
For a regular fight without even minor injuries, is it worth a tug-of-war between police and military units for further negotiations? Any area director with a bit of sense wouldn’t do this. Downplaying things is the best tactic.
As for those who got beaten? What else can you do but suck it up.
If you ss with tough nuts, taking losses is just bad luck. Continuing the hassle ans you’re just plain stupid.
...
When Zhang Yang and the others drove off in the military vehicle, the leader in the Iveco pulled out a phone and made a call.
"Brother Ma, what did you guys do to provoke those people? This gig can’t be done, I advise you to chill out, the police system can still deal, but facing the military is reasonless. When they fight, it’s all military court, not involving local relations!"
Upon hearing this, Brother Ma, who was in another room busy with paperwork, was dumbfounded! A sense of helplessness rose from deep within his heart.
...
anwhile, the military vehicle took Zhang Yang’s group back to the lobster restaurant.
Obviously, they couldn’t continue the al, but having smashed their tables and dishes, an explanation must be given; Zhang Yang and the others had enough awareness of this.
"Comrade ng Fan, we’ll drop you off here and return for our mission! Contact anyti if you need anything, our captain sent my number to your phone!" The officer picking them up said politely to ng Fan.
ng Fan didn’t ss around, turning to grab two packs of Huazi from the counter and stuffed them into the car.
"Such a small matter, sorry for troubling you guys to co, just a little token, enjoy the smoke!"
"Alright, we’re off!" After a simple hand-off, the military vehicle drove away swiftly.
Once the vehicle left, everyone looked at ng Fan with curiosity, making him shy.
"What’s up, is there a flower on my face?" ng Fan touched his cheek, feeling awkward.
"Tsk tsk, there’s a bigshot among the civilian crew! Never knew, a young master from W City having ties in WZ!" Han Qiang couldn’t resist teasing.
"My uncle’s war buddy is a leader in the WZ departnt here, just a small matter, not worth ntioning!" ng Fan shrugged, speaking casually.
It seed breezy, but Zhang Yang, who knew ng Fan’s background best, understood it wasn’t as simple as the words made it out to be.
ng Fan’s family discipline was strict; such fighting and scuffling outside surely warranted a scolding back ho, regardless right or wrong.
"Stop boasting, others might not know, but I do. Once you’re back, your dad will surely have a go at you!" Zhang Yang said lightly.
"Uh, Brother Yang, does it amuse you to talk like this? Just as I was about to show off, you totally busted !" ng Fan rubbed his cheeks, looking helpless.
"Ow!" Not rubbing was fine, rubbing only made it worse. His cheeks burned painfully. ng Fan winced, grimacing in pain.
"Hahahaha!" Everyone laughed aloud, many grimacing from pain.
During the fight earlier, driven by adrenaline, they hadn’t felt pain, but once relaxed, they ached all over.
"Stop staring, let’s go find a clinic to get patched up! Damn it, even celebrating with so drinks nearly got us killed, who’ll right this wrong!"
With Zhang Yang’s call, everyone got into the car, soon heading to the nearest clinic.
