" What?" Naledi was confused. " I’ll explain on the way, we need to run." He led them to the back of the house.
" This makes no sense, in the rhy, isn’t Red riding hood the victim? If this girl is the drear then who’s red riding hood?"
He looked at her, " In most rhys yes that is true but I’ve heard another, an older, much older rhy, besides this is a nightmare, don’t expect it to make sense."
They climbed out the back window and ca out behind the house. Just they were about to run they found Red riding hood waiting for them.
Next to her stood the massive wolf growling with sharp teeth and drool falling off it mouth.
The savagery in it eyes chilled his heart. " How did you know?" Red riding hood asked with a chilling voice.
He sighed, " I had my suspicions when I slled you, you slled like dreams and rot.
It was faint, you did a good job hiding your corrupted void scent." He answered. She smiled.
" Not good enough it seems." He laughed softly. " Believe it was very good, you were just unlucky to co across .
However that isn’t what nailed the coffin for , it’s when you didn’t know the direction to the house.
No matter which rhy, red riding hood always knows the way, however the sa cannot be said for what dwells below."
Naledi looked even more confused. " What dwells below?" She asked. Ved did not answer.
Before anybody could react there was an explosion that sent both the wolf and Red riding hood crashing on the ground, he had detonated the dagger he gave her.
He grabbed the young woman and started running. Naledi followed behind him, the woman was slowing them down.
So carried her on his shoulder like a sack of potatoes. They ran through the dark forest like leopards.
After running for a long ti they ca to a stop. " Could you please explain what’s happening?"
Naledi asked with heavy breaths, she was tired from all the running. " God I’ve forgotten how terrible it was to be mortal."
He laughed, " Tell about it." He took a deep breath. " As I told you before, I’ve heard another rhy.
An old rhy long lost in ti, forget the new editions you know because that one is darker much much darker.
The real question is, how would such a rhy be in this girl’s mories, it shouldn’t exist anymore."
They both looked at the girl who flinched. " Tell us, how does the rhy of Red Riding hood go? And where did you hear it?"
He asked her. " I..my mother told it to when I was a baby, she said she found a scroll, on it the rhy was written."
Ved looked contemplative, " How many people know of this rhy?" The woman thought for a while.
" Not many, just my family and my students." " Mmm, I see, wait students?" She nodded. He stood up and started pacing around.
" What’s wrong Ved?" He looked at Naledi and she saw fear in his eyes. " I’ll explain later, for now we need to get out of this nightmare.
She’s coming, I can feel her." They stood up and started running. When they reached their limit they rested.
While resting, the trees creaked, shadows stretched like claws of a dark god and the dark forest turned darker like the night sky was falling.
They stood up and took fighting stances. " Tell us how the rhy goes girl." Naledi urged. The woman nodded.
" Red hooded girl with a basket of bread
Went on the woods where the green had
fled
Stay on the path her mother said"
" Don’t talk to strangers or you’ll end up
Dead"
He started saying the rhy alongside her. They looked at each other and the fear in his eyes was apparent.
Naledi was confused because the rhy didn’t sound very different from the ones she knew
However Ved knew better, this was only the beginning of the rhy and this rhy was no re rhy but a chant of an old being.
They continued chanting at the sa ti to be sure it was the sa rhy.
"She humd a tune as the branches creaked."
Just as they said that, they heard humming of an angelic voice, the creaking grew louder as if the dark trees were breaking.
They looked around searching for the source but it was as if the humming ca from everywhere.
The ground, the invisible sky and the trees themselves were singing. It was impossible to tell where the humming was coming from.
Then they heard giggling from all around them, the young woman scread then grabbed her own mouth to stop herself but her body was shivering.
Ved started sweating, if this nightmare really is from the sa rhy then they were fucked.
However he still had hope that perhaps Red riding hood’s power is also limited by the nightmare like theirs.
Otherwise it would really be unfair and they were bound to die here. " I’m sorry, this is all my fault, you’re trapped here because of ."
The woman started crying. Naledi hugged her. " No no, it’s not your fault, we ca here of our volition and I promise we’ll get you out of here, right my love?"
She looked at him, Ved felt a headache coming on. Naledi liked making promises and she was putting him on a spot.
He didn’t want to promise her anything because if he was right, none of them were leaving this dream alive.
" Be careful, she’s close by, still I have no idea how we’ll get out of here but I’ll do my best." He told her with a grimace.
" The rhy, maybe the key is in the rhy, finish the rhy." She told them, the girl was too shaken to continue so he did it alone.
" The moss grew thick and the shadows
Leaked.
Out ca a wolf with a grin so wide.
Where are you going? Red hood lied.
To grannies she said but her voice rang
Strange.
Like a song half lost in a forest range.
Take my paw so your burden may lack.
With a voice so kind the old wolf said.
He sniffed the air down the long lost track.
To her grannies the path he led.
But he never should’ve turned his back."
" Wait wait wait." She cut him off, " You’re saying the wolf offered help and led her ho?
From what I’ve gathered she probably tricks and betrayal the wolf but that makes no sense, those two are obviously working together."
When she pointed that out sothing suddenly clicked to him. He looked at the two of them with understanding and fear.
" Unless, the two of us are the wolf."
