In the Barbaric Wilderness, Fang Qingyuan traveled alone. Around him, over a thousand Scorpion-tailed Poison Bees were scattered throughout the dense forest.
The bees radiated out from Fang Qingyuan, covering a thirty-plus-li radius of the Land Realm and acting as an amplifier for his Mind Map.
The Barbaric Wilderness was unlike the outside world. The environnt was complex, thick with miasma and deathly air. Fang Qingyuan used the Bee Queen’s Innate Divine Techniques, but his ntal perception, which normally extended about thirty li, was suppressed to a range of only seven or eight li.
That was why Fang Qingyuan had no choice but to release the Scorpion-tailed Poison Bees to expand his sensory range.
Fang Qingyuan was having a hard ti, but the three groups of Cultivators following him were having it even worse.
...
POP! A bright, scorching line of fire materialized out of thin air, piercing through the body of an insect.
After a Fla Finger strike, a fist-sized venomous insect was burned to death by one of the Cultivators. Watching the creature continue to twitch on the ground even after it died, the Cultivator who had used the Fla Finger finally couldn’t hold back.
"Big Brother, when are we going to make our move? Are we just going to keep following him like this?"
The man called "Big Brother" was a Late-stage Foundation Establishnt cultivator with yellow hair, a yellow beard, and yellow eyes.
"Just follow quietly. What’s with all the pointless chatter?"
The one who rebuked him was another Foundation Establishnt Cultivator. Their team consisted of five mbers, all of them Foundation Establishnt Cultivators.
After the brief complaint, the group fell silent once more.
Above the five of them, a withered-yellow umbrella spun continuously. It concealed their auras while simultaneously emitting an ominous sickness qi.
Sensing this sickness qi, any being at or above the mid-stage Qi Cultivation level would subconsciously stay far away from the area.
Only beetles with little intelligence would rashly charge under the umbrella’s cover.
As for any Qi Cultivating Monster unable to dodge in ti, just a wisp of the withered yellow sickness qi was enough to make it collapse limply to the ground within monts, eventually lting into a puddle of foul-slling pus.
To use such a sinister and malevolent Magical Artifact, these five must be from White Mountain.
’White Mountain Cultivators using an umbrella-type Magical Artifact, and Divine Techniques based on sickness qi... Could they be from the Nai Wen Family?’
Up ahead, Fang Qingyuan continued on his own, seemingly oblivious to the people following him. In his mind, however, he was constantly analyzing their origins.
The Nai Wen Family was a regional power in Northern White Mountain. In the absence of Golden Core Cultivators, the Nai Wen Family was strong enough to dominate the many Foundation Establishnt Clans and stand out from the crowd.
’But why would the Nai Wen Family dare to make a move on ?’
Fang Qingyuan couldn’t figure it out. Wasn’t his identity enough to deter these White Mountain Cultivators?
Besides the Nai Wen Family’s team, Fang Qingyuan had also noticed two other groups. One consisted of three Demonic Cultivators in black robes, and the other was a lone Monk.
Three teams, three completely different styles, yet he was their common target.
Fang Qingyuan guessed that these three teams probably weren’t very interested in his Spirit Stones.
Just then, the Token in Fang Qingyuan’s robe vibrated again, much more intensely this ti. Huo Hu was clearly just ahead.
But at a ti like this, Fang Qingyuan certainly wasn’t going to et Huo Hu so easily. With three tails on him, he couldn’t reveal his connection to Huo Hu until he dealt with these people.
Huo Hu had already fallen to the Demonic Dao. When he first erged, his mind was no different from an ordinary person’s, but lately, his actions had beco increasingly extre.
If anyone saw them together, they would most likely discover the secret of his demonic transformation, and he himself would be implicated.
The best solution was to have Huo Hu kill all of them without ever showing his own face.
With this in mind, Fang Qingyuan sent another coded ssage into the Token in his robe. He then secretly summoned the Wood Spirit Fish Dragon. Drawing upon the ubiquitous and extrely dense Wood Spirit Power of the Wilderness Forest, he executed the Wood Escape Technique and rapidly fled deeper into the woods.
Fang Qingyuan’s figure flickered, covering twenty to thirty zhang in an instant. Such a sudden and rapid move imdiately alerted the three teams behind him that sothing was wrong.
Seeing Fang Qingyuan’s swift departure, the three teams no longer bothered to hide their presence. They each unleashed their signature techniques and charged after him.
The Nai Wen Family’s team was closest, only about ten-odd li from Fang Qingyuan. The three Demon Cultivators were in the middle, over twenty li away. The Monk was last, almost beyond the range of Fang Qingyuan’s ntal perception.
The three teams moved in unison, and they all spotted each other.
The Nai Wen Family’s Withered Yellow Umbrella paused for just a mont before continuing its reckless pursuit of Fang Qingyuan.
But the team of Demon Cultivators in the middle changed direction, instead attacking the Monk at the very back.
For Foundation Establishnt Cultivators, a distance of less than ten li could be covered in a dozen or so breaths at full speed. Even in the Wilderness Forest, it would only take half that ti again.
In an instant, three pitch-black Death Demon Hand Seals descended upon the bald head at the rear.
Seeing the Demon Cultivators ahead of him attack, Kongwen wanted to curse. ’Son of a bitch Yin Demon Sect Cultivators! Do they really take for one of those stinking Monks?’
’I should have chosen a different disguise.’
Left with no other choice, Kongwen had to use his Divine Techniques. He transford his pure Taoist True Qi into the Infinite Buddha Light of the Lotus Temple to block the incoming Death Demon Hand Seals.
But the Demonic Qi contained within the three Death Demon Hand Seals was not so easily handled. After the exchange, Kongwen coughed up a mouthful of blood.
’I can’t hide my identity anymore. Otherwise, they’ll kill right here.’
The thought flashed through Kongwen’s mind. Just as he was about to change his Buddha Light back to Taoist True Qi, he saw the group of White Mountain Cultivators, who had been chasing Fang Qingyuan, retreating at an even faster speed.
ROAR!
A soul-shaking tiger’s roar swept across the land for a dozen li. In that instant, all sound vanished, and the world fell silent.
’What’s this?’
Kongwen was startled for a mont, then a flash of joy crossed his mind. The target had appeared.
But his joy lasted for only a single breath. The next mont, he saw the group of White Mountain Cultivators rushing straight toward him.
’Diverting the disaster onto ? Don’t you co over here!’
A mont ago, there had been five White Mountain Cultivators. Now, only three remained. As they charged toward Kongwen, their path took them right past the group of Yin Demon Sect Cultivators.
"Get out of the way!"
The leader of the Yin Demon Sect Cultivators also realized the White Mountain group had ill intentions. He instantly forgot about Kongwen, turned, and attacked the approaching White Mountain Cultivators.
As the Death Demon Hand Seal clashed with the Sickness-Blocking Umbrella, Kongwen shuddered and instinctively looked into the distance.
He saw a ferocious, hulking man wreathed in Demonic Qi, his eyes as crimson as blood, charging rapidly toward the clashing White Mountain and Yin Demon Sect Cultivators.
’Ugh.’
Kongwen groaned. He could feel his heart pounding wildly. He’d hooked a fish, but it turned out to be a Deep Sea Giant Beast.
’Martial Uncle, co save !’
Kongwen seized the opportunity to send a distress signal to his martial uncle, then turned and fled without a second’s hesitation.
Thirty li away, Fang Qingyuan was hidden within the heart of an ancient, towering tree, silently watching the scene unfold through a Scorpion-tailed Poison Bee he had left behind.
At the sa ti, Fang Qingyuan took the Token from his robe and quickly tossed it into his Immortal Mansion.
Inside the Immortal Mansion, Jinbao was playing with the Bee Queen. It glanced at the Token that fell from the sky, nudged it a few tis, and then lost interest.
Then, its eyes swiveled, and it fixed its gaze on the Crimson Young Bird waiting nearby.
