Taking it by force wouldn’t be right.
The two of them had co to the sa conclusion.
Gu Ming nodded. After learning the history of this place, he knew he couldn’t use brute force.
They had been so hasty just now mainly because they were getting anxious from the wait. Not wanting to waste any more ti, they had subconsciously tried to grab it.
Now that he had cald down and was thinking rationally again, Gu Ming began to devise a new plan to connect with it.
"Leaving it here is definitely not an option.
"This spatial fragnt is already unstable, but we can’t just drag it away by force either."
Even without a system prompt, Gu Ming could tell from his own perception that the Space here was highly unstable, and the Array underfoot was riddled with flaws.
The Little Black Cat had just been using these flaws to get in and out.
When Gu Ming had sliced through the Array’s Shadow Film from the outside, it hadn’t affected the interior. This was because the main body of the Array was broken and couldn’t even sound an alarm; only its partial Concealnt function was still working.
As he spoke, Gu Ming glanced at the unfinished old draft of the Array on the desk, then at the system’s plot comntary. A rough idea began to form in his mind.
「Half an incense stick later.」
Gu Ming and the others retracted their Divine Sense and returned to their bodies.
The three of them chatted outside the spatial rift. Gu Ming explained his plan for the Array while the other two listened.
Gu Ming’s plan was for the three of them to build an Array together, recreating the old gentleman’s draft to fashion a ho that was nearly identical to this place.
After luring it out and getting it to enter the new area, they would see if they could use its recorded hobbies or mories from the diary to communicate with it and help it leave its self-contained world.
If that didn’t work, they would just have to let it be free.
In any case, the spatial fragnt here was collapsing and would surely be destroyed. They couldn’t let the cat stay in such a dangerous place.
If it was truly unwilling, then it simply wasn’t ant to be. They would have no choice but to let it go its own way.
After Gu Ming finished explaining his plan, Lu You had no objections.
Yuan Ge, however, felt it was a bit of a waste on Gu Ming’s part. "Mr. Gu Ming, are you sure you want to make such a huge investnt?" he asked.
"Of course, I know you cherish life and respect the cat’s will.
"But what I’m trying to say is, there will always be more Pet Beasts in this world than you can possibly save. You can’t just rescue every single one you co across, can you?"
"A rescue that’s just a little extra effort is no problem in my book.
"But investing in a small-to-dium-sized Light and Dark Concealnt Array requires Pet Beasts with Light and Dark Attributes to maintain it. Since I live here, I can help maintain the Mana for the dark side, and you can help too. But what about after graduation? We can’t co back every day to replenish the Array’s energy."
But Gu Ming replied, "Then take a look at this dilapidated Array. Who do you think is maintaining it?"
Yuan Ge was taken aback by this remark. He hadn’t actually considered that.
Thinking back on it now, the maintenance of this Array was indeed quite peculiar.
Normally, an Array should be maintained by a Pet Beast.
If the cat’s Light Attribute Spiritual Root had completely withered and beco useless, then how was this Concealing Array, which combined both light and dark functions, still operating?
Even though they could see its light-based camouflage was patchy and incomplete, it still provided a decent cloaking effect in the dark, making it impossible to perceive with the naked eye.
A normal scan with Divine Sense couldn’t find any trace of it either. This Array must be maintained by another Light Attribute Pet Beast.
But they had just spent a long ti exploring the inside, turning that whole spatial fragnt upside down. It was impossible for a second Pet Beast to be alive in there.
So, the Array must be drawing upon the local Spiritual Qi. But he hadn’t seen any powerful energy-producing object that could generate Light Spiritual Qi.
At that mont, Gu Ming said,
"I just looked at the old gentleman’s draft for the Array.
"It’s a real sha he wasn’t able to finish its final construction.
"If we can study it while recreating and completing it, we’ll surely be able to find the Array Points that are supplying the Light Spiritual Qi."
"Are you saying there’s a treasure inside?" Yuan Ge asked, finally understanding.
’That makes sense,’ he thought. ’For a spatial fragnt to have ford here, there must be sothing special about the place. Perhaps that’s where the Spiritual Object that sustains this spatial fragnt is located.’
Yuan Ge licked his lips slightly. He didn’t reveal any more of his thoughts, but instead proactively said,
"As long as I can learn the Sword Array that strengthens Divine Sense, that’s all I need. I don’t want anything from inside."
Normally, when a treasure is discovered in an unknown area, everyone involved gets a share, and the three of them should have split it.
For him to give up his claim voluntarily was, in its own way, a smart move.
Seeing that he was so sensible, Gu Ming nodded in agreent.
In the days that followed, besides going to work, Gu Ming spent his ti purchasing the Array Materials used by the old school handyman.
At the sa ti, he used his Divine Sense every day to read the books on the old shelves.
These were all old-edition books, and the material used for their pages was quite valuable.
The pages possessed a Great Dao recording ability; when read with Divine Sense, the knowledge within would flow directly into one’s brain.
It took about a week for Gu Ming to finish reading all the Array Manuals on the shelf and establish a preliminary knowledge base in his mind.
Without a teacher to guide him, he had to rely entirely on his own understanding to read these materials.
Fortunately, through their three-person study sessions, Gu Ming slowly managed to get through the bulk of it.
Furthermore, with the system’s comntary deconstructing the information, even if it wasn’t Gu Ming but the other two who were breaking down the Array knowledge, it was still enough for him to learn from.
On the ninth day after discovering the Little Black Cat, it finally got hungry enough to erge in search of food.
By this ti, Gu Ming had already set up an identical Concealnt Array outside the spatial rift, one maintained by the Light and Dark Attributes.
Cyan Treasure maintained it with its refined Light Mana, while the Night Demon Cat and the Shadowy Vine Snake maintained the Dark Attribute Mana.
Once the stray kitten went out, Gu Ming quickly entered the fragnted Space. He swiftly moved all of the old handyman’s belongings, including the wooden cabin, and transferred them, completely untouched, into the new Concealnt Array he had just built.
There wasn’t much, and setting it all up in the woods was simple.
Having finished deconstructing the Array, Gu Ming also found the special treasure hidden within the spatial fragnt.
It was a transparent stone that faintly glowed from within. This was the source of the Array’s power.
To Gu Ming, the stone looked a lot like a Spirit Stone, but it wasn’t quite the sa.
Even Yuan Ge had never seen such a thing; he couldn’t make heads or tails of it.
Fortunately, however, the system provided an explanation.
After deconstructing the Array, you retrieved the Source Light Space Stone from within. This stone is extrely rare. It possesses the Power of Space and an affinity for the Light Attribute. It can be used to develop a Beastmaster’s Beast Taming Space, adding a Light Attribute affinity to it and making it an exceptionally comfortable place for Light Pet Beasts to reside.
After reading it, Gu Ming impassively put it away in his pouch.
’Yuan Ge has a Beast Taming Space but didn’t recognize the stone. This thing is probably incredibly rare and not a common item.’
