Beast World: A Fragile Beauty Blessed with Many Children Chapter 30 - 29: You’ve Blossomed
Before long, a crowd of ten to twenty Beastn rushed out from the tribe. Seeing Si Shuo’s white hair, blue eyes, and otherworldly appearance, every single one of them stood frozen in place.
Si Shuo had been quite attractive back in the modern world. Whenever she went out, she was bound to be spotted by talent scouts.
If her health had permitted it, she would have loved to stand on a stage and experience a different kind of life.
She patted Xu Chi’s shoulder, and without her needing to say a word, she felt his grip loosen.
Sliding off Xu Chi’s back, Si Shuo smiled and waved at them. "Hello, everyone. I’m fine, thank you for your concern.
However, I’ve been separated... from my... partner.
I was wondering... if I might trouble you... to rest in the tribe... for a few days, and wait for... my partner... to co find ..."
Xu Chi glanced at her, his brows knitting together in a rare frown.
The tribe mbers heard the young female’s stuttering words and figured she must have so sort of physical disability. They couldn’t help but feel a sense of disappointnt.
Whether it was the males, who could shift into their Beast Form and possessed superior Combat Power, or the females, who needed protection and couldn’t transform, all Beastn were typically healthy. Any sort of defect was highly likely to be inherited.
And on the Beast World Continent, with its harsh environnt, it was very difficult for a disabled Beastman to survive.
’Still, a stutter isn’t that serious of a flaw, right?’
"Hello, young female. I am Ju Ke, the leader of the Fengchuan Tribe," the bearded, middle-aged male said with a smile. However, the feeling of her deep blue eyes fixed intently on his mouth made him stumble over his words.
"We would naturally be very happy to have you stay in our tribe temporarily.
However, we don’t know much about you two, and letting you in would be a great risk.
But we can’t just leave you out here. It’s getting dark, and lingering in the forest is very dangerous.
Therefore, according to our tribe’s rules, young female, you must choose two of our strong and brave males to be your Beast Husbands!"
It took five or six seconds for his words to sink in before Si Shuo ca to her senses. ’Am I going to be pressured into marriage no matter where I go?’
It seed there were so many males on the Beast World Continent, all desperate for offspring, that they’d just aggressively promote their own tribesn to any female who happened to pass by. The sheer audacity of it left Si Shuo speechless.
Si Shuo bit her lip, a faint blush coloring her cheeks. Her expression was a complex mix of gratitude and urgency, shyness and apprehension, overwhelming guilt and high hopes:
"Leader Ju Ke... I also want to choose... a powerful Beast Husband.
But... I can’t... harm your Warriors. It’s because... I’m a white-haired, blue-eyed... Mutated... female Cat Beastman. I was born with... a hearing... problem.
My people... didn’t like . While... my Beast Husband... was on the spring hunt... they cast out.
Also... my fertility... isn’t very high.
If... there is a powerful male... who doesn’t mind... I’m not... opposed..."
The males who had just been so eager to show off, shifting into their Beast Forms one after another to display their power, were now monuntally disappointed.
Beastn were straightforward. They appreciated and admired a beautiful female, but they cared more about survival and bearing offspring.
Females were already difficult enough to protect. Taking on a weak, deaf, short-lived Mutated one? They’d have to have a death wish!
What’s more, the all-knowing Witch Doctor sighed and nodded. "This female is indeed a Mutated Cat Beastman. The white hair and blue eyes are accompanied by deafness.
If she is fortunate enough to give birth to a female, the child will likely be the sa as her, requiring one or two males for protection. If she bears a male, and he goes out to hunt, he will never return..."
Si Shuo lowered her head in sha and hid behind Xu Chi, but still looked toward Ju Ke with a sliver of hope. "Leader Ju Ke, I know... I’m not good enough.
Can I still... wait for my partner... to co and find ?"
Ju Ke glanced at the three Beast Patterns on Xu Chi’s neck, then exchanged a look with the Witch Doctor before smiling. "You may. It is our tribe’s males who are not fortunate enough."
They wouldn’t go so far as to make things difficult for a weak female. After all, the birth of any female, even a weak one, was the will of the Beast God.
Si Shuo breathed a sigh of relief, smiling as she hurried to thank them. Then, she pulled Xu Chi along with her into the tribe.
The two of them were assigned a small, drafty hut. Ju Ke even sent a young Beastman to bring them two Beast Skins, a piece of at, and even two Second Level Crystal Stones. He also invited them to the bonfire feast.
Si Shuo was touched by their hospitality. She whispered to Xu Chi, "I’m starting to feel a little guilty, as if I ca here just to leech off of them.
We’re the ones staying here and seeking their protection, but they’re the ones giving us gifts."
Xu Chi tilted his head. "Tomorrow, I’ll take you hunting."
Si Shuo rested her chin in her hand, watching him gather so weeds to plug the gaps in the walls and then lay out the Beast Skins to make a bed. "Do you an you’ll go hunting to repay the Fengchuan Tribe’s kindness?"
Xu Chi nodded.
Si Shuo’s smile froze. A dreadful suspicion began to form, and she asked hesitantly, "Xu Chi, are you repaying the favor for ? Why?"
Xu Chi’s eyes were fixed on her.
The sun had set, leaving only a faint purple glow on the horizon. Several bonfires were lit around the tribe, and the Beastn were busy preparing and roasting the Wild Beasts they had hunted.
All of it was reflected clearly in his brown eyes, which also held her image. They were like a placid lake, without a single ripple.
"You blossod!"
Si Shuo had been waiting for what felt like an eternity, having already considered several possible answers in her mind. But all he said was that one line. "Huh?"
"My Father said I have a weak destiny when it cos to love and would never find a female," Xu Chi said with complete seriousness. "Unless a female blossod!"
Si Shuo was speechless.
’This was clearly just Uncle Xu Chi being frustrated with his son’s shortcomings, saying that with a personality like his, it’d be hard to find a female. But he actually took it as gospel?’
"Where did I blossom?" Si Shuo said through gritted teeth. "I’m a female, not a plant! I can’t blossom!"
Xu Chi opened his hand, revealing a wildflower that had been crushed in his grip.
It looked familiar to Si Shuo. Wasn’t this one of the flowers she used for camouflage when practicing with her escape basket?
"I found you, so I will protect you," Xu Chi added solemnly.
The corner of Si Shuo’s mouth twitched as she tried to reason with him. "I’m a female, not so discarded Crystal Stone or Beast Skins on the side of the road! This isn’t a case of finders keepers!"
Xu Chi looked at her. "A female cannot survive alone. The Beast God decreed that a lone female belongs to whoever finds her."
’So there really is no such thing as a free lunch. Does this an Xu Chi was taking care of this whole ti because he considered his female?’
Si Shuo felt like she was on the losing end of the argunt. After all, she had indeed been under his protection and care.
She held out her wrist, showing him the Beast Mark. "This is my Beast Husband’s. He’s very fierce and won’t let take other Beast Husbands."
Xu Chi grunted. "Then I’ll fight him until he agrees."
’Is he really that savage?’
"Zhi Le is a Level 4 Beastman, and he’s about to beco Level 5! You can’t beat him! And of course, you’re not allowed to use your Tornado on him!" She didn’t want to end up with a hairless, completely smooth leopard; the sight would be too much to bear.
Xu Chi stepped forward until their noses were almost touching. A warm, herbal scent enveloped her. "I’m very strong. Stronger than you can imagine, at least. I’m no weaker than Zhi Le."
