"Suishen... Jiguang?" The valley lord immediately squinted. The old patriarch and Suishen Ranxing, who weren’t on the altar, also did the same, having no idea what she was about to do. Suishen Jiguang and Suishen Xiyue would be taking control of the pace of everything.
"Her?" Yumo Diyan and Yumo Dinai had a feeling that something was about to go down. The other reverends and eminents of Myriadpath Valley thought it would be nothing but a routine ceremony, since they were certain that House Yumo would no longer dare to resist, yet House Suishen had instead been the one that took action during such a sacred moment! Was that really the goddess of Myriadpath Valley? The Suishen Jiguang in their minds would never make a mess of the ceremony like this.
"Suishen Jiguang, the ceremony’s ongoing! Immediately go down!" Qitian Muyu stepped toward her. For some reason, his heart was pounding almost frantically enough to leave his chest. He could almost be certain from the look in her eyes that the worst-case scenario was playing out.
Maybe she knows that we don't have the astralship after all.... However, as long as she doesn't know that Father’s been hurt by the formation core, everything should be fine. They had discussed the possibility of Suishen Jiguang knowing the truth before. However, there was nothing they could do about her. If she decided to expose it, they wouldn't be able to stop her.
That was why they had decided to work from the Suishen Hongtian angle. Even though this was an unexpected situation, House Qitian had contingencies just for such an occasion.
As expected, Suishen Jiguang didn't move no matter who yelled at her. She drew a crescent blade and swung it toward the valley lord, using only the power of a minor-zenith foundationeer!
The valley lord coldly blocked the crescent blade with his hand and neutralized the attack with his cosmoforce. "Suishen Jiguang, how dare you do something so foul?!"
Everyone was shocked to see the sudden attack on the valley lord. The old patriarch and Suishen Ranxing immediately rose to the altar and flanked her. The old patriarch glared at her and immediately said to the valley lord, "Valley Lord, ever since my daughter returned alive from the Yin-Yang World, her soul might’ve been slightly corrupted! She isn’t in her right mind!"
Even the old patriarch had been pletely shocked by his daughter's odd behavior, pletely oblivious to the valley lord's nervous brow furrowing.
She must know about my current level of power! She was trying to make me embarrass myself. Fortunately, I managed to recover up to the major zenith and not expose it.... Right as the valley lord thought that, the other three minor-zenith foundationeers of House Qitian appeared behind him and coldly stared down at the three Suishens.
"What's going on?!"
"This came out of nowhere!"
Everyone in attendance at the ceremony was confused, save for some in House Yumo, who could sense a hostility between House Qitian and House Suishen. It was something they had prayed for! Yumo Diyan and the rest took a deep breath, approaching the altar without saying a word.
"Let's go!" The old patriarch tried to pull Suishen Jiguang away from the altar.
She shook off his hand and pointed at the valley lord. With the loudest voice she could muster, she said, "Fellow brothers and sisters of Myriadpath Valley! During the decade I spent stranded in the Yin-Yang World, I’ve seen things that you can't even dream of! During today's Ancestral Worship Ceremony, I, Suishen Jiguang, represent Myriadpath Valley by calling out House Qitian and this valley lord that’s trying to break the Myriadpath Sacred Code! They’re the worst sinners ever in our history!"
Apart from the four Qitians, everyone else was stunned. Thousands of Qitian reverends and eminents froze for a moment, then broke out in laughter.
"I think she's gone mad!"
"It's no wonder she lost her Suishen Blood."
"I wonder which fool fucked her silly."
"Does she really not know fear? House Qitian already has every legacy of the Yin-Yang World! So what if a mere minor-zenith foundationeer in House Suishen calls foul?"
House Yumo, on the other hand, was all too happy that Suishen Jiguang was the one who had called it out. They wanted to join her and call out House Qitian for breaking the rules of their sacred code!
"Suishen Jiguang, you're mad!" The old patriarch almost spat blood from rage.
Suishen Ranxing furrowed his brows. He was the one that was in the most dire need to buy time. He knew that his sister was pletely sane, so he didn't understand why she would do something so out of character at a time like this. He’d never hated her, as she had always been agreeable and abstained from unnecessary petition. But now she was putting him in a most risky position.
"I hereby assert my sanity once more!" There was nobody who could stop her as she turned towards the crowd and sternly intoned, "I’ll be telling all of you the truth! When the nine specters of House Yumo, the valley lord, and Qitian Muyu entered the fortuna-class astralship, I was there, too! They just didn't notice me. I witnessed the valley lord launch a surprise attack on the senior madame and force the other eight specters away! They could never imagine what happened next after they were driven from the ship...."
The words immediately made the valley lord's face freeze up. He wanted to silence her, but she was no pushover. The old patriarch was also beside her, so there was no way he would be able to seal her mouth.
The old patriarch's body shook at the realization that his daughter had kept such a shocking secret from him. Instead, she was taking action on her own!
Suishen Ranxing seemed even more troubled and glared at her with rage. Where the other members of House Suishen gathered, Suishen Hongtian and Eminent Jinying exchanged confused glances.
"What’s going on?" Eminent Jinying asked, still waiting for her younger brother's good news.
"I don't know...." Suishen Hongtian shook his head, his heart pounding as he had a bad feeling about what was going down.
The eight specters who had seen their senior madame being killed, Yumo Diyan included, glared at Eminent Jiguang, their eyes bloodshot and heart rates rising. The only ones who seemed pletely unperturbed were the other members of House Qitian, who were ready to disbelieve anything Suishen Jiguang said.
Under so much pressure and attention, Suishen Jiguang pointed her weapon at the valley lord. "The valley lord and his tensource beast attempted to assimilate the formation core. He was about to succeed, but the formation core turned out to be a trap left by the denizens of the Yin-Yang World!
"They didn't have the bloodline of the Yin-Yang World's natives, so they had no control over the ship at all! The trap formation immediately turned toxic, greatly wounding them and forcing them to leave the ship and pathetically escape from the Yin-Yang World!"
