Some grievances were unforgettable for Suishen Yao. She could never forgive her father for forcing her to marry Suishen Yue. Or for slapping her and declaring, before her mother’s return, that neither his sister nor his wife would ever e back.
Such a father had long since left her thoroughly disappointed.
"Little Zhao!" After speaking, she turned to glare at Suishen Zhao.
Suishen Zhao momentarily hesitated. His father’s gaze had always been a shadow over him. However, he wasn’t weak. Summoning his courage, he replied, "Dad, when you think about it, Sister hasn’t left Myriadpath Valley in a very long time. Taking her out to relax is truly a minor thing. I feel there’s no need to blow this out of proportion...."
Upon hearing that, Suishen Ranxing’s veins visibly bulged on his face.
The crowd watched the tense confrontation, puzzled by the situation.
"Did you hear that? Don’t tell me you never even realized how you’ve treated your children?" Suishen Xiyue coldly sneered. She held the hands of her children, with Suishen Yao pulling Suishen Shuang along as well.
"Fine. I’ll give everyone my word. If anything happens to the children, I’ll return to Suishen Cave with my head in my hands. Satisfied? It’s laughable. Everyone knows who secured House Suishen’s current status during the Altar Battle. Yet, you, Suishen Ranxing, have the gall to act high and mighty in front of me?"
She cast one final look of disdain at him and prepared to leave with the three children.
"Suishen Xiyue!" Suishen Ranxing was seething with rage, unable to tolerate any further humiliation. How could a dignified leader of the house be disgraced so openly? His mind was still trapped in the past and he had never expected his wife to pletely crush his dignity in public.
Where was his prestige?
Suishen Cang and Suishen Ling, along with the other elites, were dumbstruck, let alone the hundreds of house members gathered. It was undeniable that Suishen Ranxing’s prestige had been thoroughly trampled by his wife today. The anger from that earlier kneeling incident bined with today’s humiliation in his heart.
"Stop!" His roar shook the formations of Suishen Cave. He spun around, fire blazing in his eyes. With a powerful stomp, he lunged toward Suishen Xiyue.
The children were still next to her. The crushing pressure made them turn pale and struggle to breathe. The weakest, Suishen Zhao, even started bleeding as his skin cracked.
The shocking display left House Suishen in disbelief.
"How can the leader of the house attack his wife and children?" Suishen Xiyue’s words might have been harsh, but she was strong and had merit. It was a domestic matter, and everyone clearly understood that a man should endure such things.
However, to disregard his children and attack his wife in public? That was utterly despicable.
"Suishen Ranxing, are you insane?" The old patriarch’s eyelid violently twitched. When Suishen Xiyue had returned, it was his kneeling that had calmed her rage, persuading her not to reveal the truth and protect the house’s reputation.
But now, her husband was publicly attacking her? She was the hero of the Altar Battle! That was just courting disaster. He hurriedly intercepted his son, firmly holding him back.
Suishen Cang and Suishen Ling, fearing for their daughter, also stepped in front of Suishen Ranxing, shaking as they blocked his path.
"There’s no need for this... really," Suishen Cang pleaded in his position as a long-time friend.
The other members of House Suishen were still unable to process the situation.
At that moment, it seemed the entire house, including his father, stood against Suishen Ranxing. The old patriarch’s cosmoforce clashed with his, unleashing a roaring inferno that even reached the distant Suishen Xiyue and her children.
"What kind of father are you? Can’t you stop acting high and mighty for just one day? All I wanted was to go out for a little fun. How could that offend you so much that you have to treat me like this?" Suishen Yao burst into tears, feeling utterly wronged. She’d idolized her father during her childhood, but growing up had let her see his true nature with far more clarity. And this attack finally shattered any lingering illusions she had about him.
Despite everything, Suishen Ranxing showed no regret. Instead, he glared fiercely at his wife and snarled, "House Suishen, heed my order: apprehend Suishen Xiyue! Anyone who dares to oppose me will die!" He could tolerate anything, except for being challenged by a woman he had once dominated. That was his obsession.
"You’ve gone insane!" The old patriarch was unable to contain his fury and slapped his son across the face. The sharp sting finally brought him back to his senses.
But it was too late. The crimson-haired woman silently observed the enraged man. Like Suishen Yao, the remaining traces of affection she’d held for her husband of millennia had pletely dissipated.
If it weren’t for her children, why would she have endured until today? Now, her heart had entirely shattered. When she learned from Tianming that he intended to use their children as hostages to kill her, it felt like poison coursing through her veins.
Over a century of torment, her children had been her sole motivation for enduring. Unlike Suishen Jiguang, all she had ever wanted was a brighter future for them. But now, the man who had repeatedly disappointed her wanted to use her most cherished bonds to achieve his own ambitions.
Burning with wrath, she suddenly laughed. The bitter, mocking sound rang out through Suishen Cave.
"Mom...." Suishen Yao could sense her pain and rage.
Everyone watched as Suishen Xiyue lost all posure.
"If you’ve abandoned all rationality, then don’t blame me for abandoning the greater good! If our children mean so little to you, Suishen Ranxing, why should I continue trying to uphold your image as their father?”
Suishen Xiyue locked her furious gaze on him and shouted in a voice filled with grief and indignation, “As a man and the leader of House Suishen, do you dare to admit it? A hundred years ago, you lured me into the depths of the Inner Yin, personally injured me, and cast me into the abyss!
"A few months ago, when I struggled back to Myriadpath Valley, I wanted to kill you to avenge myself. You and your father knelt before me, begging me to consider the greater good and our children, to protect your reputation!
"And today, do you really think I’m still that weak woman you once thought dead, incapable of exposing you for what you are?
"Suishen Hongtian has already famously betrayed us to bee a minion. But who would believe that the self-righteous Suishen Ranxing would be the true scum of Myriadpath Valley? Hahaha...!"
