Elara’s POV

Why am I even thinking about this? What if he doesn’t feel the sa way?

But I’ve got plenty of moves up my sleeve. I’m the one with the power here. He gets picked—he doesn’t get to pick . Isn’t the system assignnt there for a reason?

I smiled—couldn’t argue with that logic. The little devil on my shoulder totally won that debate.

"Elara, you seem particularly cheerful today?" Dorian asked gently.

"Absolutely, Your Highness," I replied brightly while portioning out the food.

I just scored 20 million credits for nothing, and that annoying guy transford into absolute eye candy. Of course I’m on cloud nine.

I take back every nasty thing I said before. Julian wasn’t so sea monster or lizard—he was my adorable little goldfish.

God, I nearly said "I’ll look after you" out loud just then.

Barrett had already gotten word from Alistair about my victory, so he didn’t connect my upbeat mood to Julian.

He stood tall and confident, waiting for to serve him. Barrett was sporting so new gear—gold-rimd glasses perched on his wolf face. He’d obviously checked himself out multiple tis and thought he looked absolutely irresistible.

His fluffy wolf tail wagged softly. When I glanced his way, my expression must have looked puzzled.

I think I finally understand what "trying too hard and failing miserably" ans.

Barrett grinned, "Elara..."

"Those glasses are all wrong for you," I said flatly at exactly the sa mont. After all, the gorgeous guy in Chamber Seven rocked silver-rimd fras.

He’s a wolf—why is he even wearing glasses?

A soft whine escaped Barrett. He raised his eyebrows. "Don’t I look attractive?"

"Not even close," I told him.

"Then choose sothing for ?" Barrett eagerly presented his accessory box.

My inner thirst completely took control. Looking at the wolf standing upright, I dropped my gaze, staring directly at his lower region, covered my mouth, and said, "Actually, you’re smoking hot just as you are. Be a good boy and just stand there. All this decorative stuff doesn’t work on you."

Barrett, what you’re packing down there is plenty.

Barrett went still for a mont, then caught my aning. The tips of his wolf ears flushed bright red.

His flushed ears made it seem like he was obsessed with the daring things I said.

Barrett started to speak again, "Elara..."

"Yeah?" I responded distractedly, still portioning the food. A robot stood nearby—it wasn’t rushing , but I picked up the pace anyway. I was ladling side dishes when Barrett suddenly said my na.

"Do... Do you have feelings for ?" Barrett gathered all his nerve, standing anxiously by the food slot.

His voice carried loud enough for every other ward to hear. The instant he asked, the entire area went completely quiet. Everyone—not just Barrett—hung on my response.

I said, "I don’t..."

Barrett’s heart shattered. But the other six breathed quiet sighs of relief.

Then I stood up, smiled, and swept a stray piece of hair behind my ear. "I’m into humans," I added with a smirk. "Not creatures."

The six beings felt like they’d taken bullets to the chest and crumpled.

Only Silas in Chamber Seven smiled warmly and gracefully. He adjusted his glasses on his nose, his smile lighting up his eyes.

The warmth in his eyes made it seem as if he had feelings for too.

Alistair in Chamber Seven was still hiding beneath his bed sheet. I didn’t bolt this ti. After spending ti together, I’d gotten comfortable—he’d never once tried to bite .

Perfect.

If Alistair knew what I was thinking, he’d probably smash his head against the wall.

"Thank you, Elara. The al was excellent," Alistair said smoothly.

I was slightly shocked. Damn, this snake guy has an amazing voice. Total victory for soone with a voice kink.

"I’m happy you enjoyed it," I said, my tone composed, courteous, but detached.

I had a thousand thoughts racing through my mind, but I kept my expression neutral.

Alistair laughed quietly, and I could tell from his expression that he was completely captivated by every aspect of .

When I reached Finnian’s ward, he looked like he had been working out. He had just erged from the shower when he spotted . He quickly secured a towel around himself, then imdiately spun around, clutching the towel tighter. Even in his animal form, his damp fur concealed nothing.

"Ms. Sterling... I apologize..." Finnian stuttered.

"No worries. I didn’t catch anything," I said.

He’s so small in his animal form—how could I see anything unless he stands up?

I placed the food down and made my way to Chamber Seven.

When I reached the food slot, I assud Silas wasn’t around until I heard footsteps.

Silas had also just finished cleaning up. The second floor was their relaxation space. The mont he descended the stairs, I couldn’t contain myself. Blood rushed to my head, and I nearly got a nosebleed.

He ca down wearing cotton slippers. He’d just washed, so he was shirtless—just a towel secured around his waist. His flawless physique was completely visible.
