Sword Star frowned and said, "This matter is of great importance, the confidentiality level is very high."
Wu Chang: "Don’t worry, I have a tight lip."
Sword Star: "It’s not about discretion, it’s your clearance level that’s not enough, I shouldn’t tell you."
Wu Chang showed an understanding expression, "No problem, I’ll go investigate myself then."
"Wait!"
Sword Star grabbed Wu Chang. He had seen Wu Chang’s social phobia, and if he really let Wu Chang investigate on his own, he feared sothing might go wrong.
Wu Chang figuring out the truth was a minor issue; the problem would be if he accidentally entered so important organization and got arrested as a suspicious person, which would create trouble for Wu Chang.
The two had together strategized through Peaceful Town and Erosion Dungeon, so they were sowhat familiar. Sword Star naturally couldn’t just watch Wu Chang make a mistake.
He hesitated for a mont, sighed, and said, "You must promise not to spread this incident."
Wu Chang imdiately said, "I promise!"
"Follow ."
Sword Star led Wu Chang to a secluded rest area and then said, "From now on, everything I say is just my self-talk. I am rely puzzled about what happened just now, thinking aloud and analyzing alone."
Wu Chang understood and imdiately entered a social phobia state, staying beside Sword Star.
Through Sword Star’s self-talk, Wu Chang roughly understood what had happened in Red Wave Space.
The series of chain explosions was caused by a group of "tourists" with hidden identities.
Since Crimson Courtyard is a safe zone and Red Wave Space is not a confidential high-level zone, entering the outer area of Red Wave Space isn’t very difficult. It just requires a recomndation from an Investigator Level mber to gain entry into Red Wave Space.
This group of tourists who obtained access initially toured the outer areas of Red Wave Space. Later, they produced an archaic monunt inscribed with complex runes, wanting the central research institute in Red Wave Space to conduct an appraisal.
Conducting tests and appraisals on outside samples is indeed within the purview of the central research institute, allowing them to collect various kinds of data and earn extra inco. If sothing valuable is found, they can negotiate a purchase.
Theoretically, testing and appraisal services for outsiders are all benefits without harm.
Unfortunately, today they encountered that one harm.
After leaving the monunt, the group of tourists continued to explore several other areas.
Then, the outer area of Red Wave Space began experiencing fierce explosions.
The explosions advanced from the outside toward the inside, all the way to the central research institute. Since Red Wave Space is recognized by the system as a safe zone, there were no casualties among the Managent Bureau mbers, but the buildings, data, and various resources suffered significant damage.
While the Managent Bureau mbers were struggling amid the explosions, they never expected that the most violent and final explosion would occur within the Hongng Temple.
Sword Star described the general occurrence, but many details were beyond Wu Chang’s comprehension. He used Energy to form six words in the air.
"Why did it explode?"
Red Wave Space is a safe zone where the buildings, like the players within, should be protected by the system.
Seeing Wu Chang’s question, Sword Star’s face darkened, as if recalling sothing unpleasant.
"Red Wave Space is a territory zone where the manager of the territory, to a certain extent, the regional managers, have the authority to adjust the attributes of buildings, making them destructible."
"In other words, the root cause of this incident is that there’s an insider in the Managent Bureau, and the insider’s level is high enough to modify the building’s attributes."
No wonder Sword Star looked so grim. Having a traitor within the organization is difficult to accept, especially when the traitor is at a high level.
Wu Chang also frowned after hearing this. Typically, betrayal stems either from interest or hatred.
Hatred seems unlikely. Xia Country holds the Managent Bureau in high regard. To beco part of the Managent Bureau’s high-level, especially those who can manage Red Wave Space, would require rigorous background checks for generations, making hatred unlikely.
For profit, it doesn’t seem to hold either.
Those who have climbed to this high level in the Four Major Organizations already have access to resources and wealth. What more could entice them?
Upon hearing Sword Star’s answer, Wu Chang beca more perplexed but set aside the question to continue asking:
"Is the tremor of the Desolate Realm related to the explosion in Red Wave Space?"
Sword Star’s expression turned even darker, not only due to the answer but also the one posing the question.
Why are all the questions so tricky and hard to answer?
To prevent Sword Star from brushing him off, Wu Chang continued to form a line of words.
"I heard players in the bar saying similar explosions happened in White Tower and Western Union."
Sword Star: ...
The big mouths in the public area bar, is this kind of information casually shareable?
Sword Star took a deep breath, massaging his temples with his thumb and middle finger, and said:
"Yes, the tremor of the Desolate Realm is related to this attack. This is a pre-ditated attack. The Managent Bureau, White Tower, Western Union, and Evolution Committee were all attacked, with the central nodes of each force being infiltrated."
Upon Sword Star’s confirmation, Wu Chang’s eyes narrowed.
This just beca interesting. If it were solely an attack targeting the Managent Bureau, it might have various motives. The mastermind could be White Tower or perhaps the Believers’ Circle.
But with all Four Major Organizations simultaneously attacked, and each force’s central node within the Desolate Realm compromised, causing severe disruptions across the Desolate Realm, it far exceeds the capabilities of the Believers’ Circle.
