Before him, a passage to the Golden Country opened, and Erin stepped out slowly.
"His intentions can fully represent my will. As long as there’s no change in the wording of the terms, I can sign the divine contract with you now."
Wu Chang added from the side, "I could have let the Saintess join the battlefield at any ti, but I did not do so to show my goodwill."
The Great Saint Mother’s cheeks twitched slightly; Gelman, whom you have locked up, surely doesn’t feel your goodwill at all.
However, as Wu Chang said, if his intention was to act, he could have brought Erin in long ago.
Seeing the sincerity of the other party, while dismissing her doubts, another thought occurred to the Great Saint Mother.
If he wasn’t just amusing her, then why did Wu Chang agree so readily? Could it be that their situation is far less relaxed than it seems, and did she perhaps not ask for enough?
The Great Saint Mother felt a bit regretful, but considering Gelman was still in the Inner World called Blind Abyss and was temporarily useful, she decided not to waste any more ti and imdiately taught Erin how to use the Power of Faith, combined with Light Magic, to form a divine contract.
A divine contract is a special kind of agreent requiring both parties to possess Divinity. Once signed, neither party can back out without facing a backlash of Wish Power.
The consequence can be as minor as a drop in one’s realm or as severe as the shattering of their Divinity, which requires a long ti to reconstruct.
Such dire consequences preserve the last thread of trust between gods.
The divine contract quickly took shape, but just before signing, Wu Chang suddenly stopped Erin, looked at the Great Saint Mother, and said:
"Cooperation is mutually beneficial for us. The demands that the Great Saint Mother just made were two; we also have two demands we find quite reasonable."
The Great Saint Mother frowned slightly but, seeing the already fully ford divine contract and thinking of the soon-to-be-acquired Island of Briff, urged, "What are your demands?"
Wu Chang smiled and said, "Our demands are simple. One is information sharing during the cooperation. We need to know the secrets of the Island of Briff and the intelligence regarding the Ogre Kingdom."
The Great Saint Mother was reluctant to agree, but considering that once the divine contract was signed, the Island of Briff would eventually be hers, sharing secrets was no big deal. So she agreed, "Okay."
Wu Chang said, "The second demand is that during our cooperation, the Great Saint Mother must instruct the Saintess in her cultivation, teaching her how to use Divine Power, and during the teaching, you must answer without refusal, not hide things, or deliberately distort guidance, nor harbor ill intent."
Discontent flashed through the Great Saint Mother’s eyes; Erin’s body was provided by her, and the Holy Mark that consolidated Divinity was also hers.
Having her materials taken, and now being asked to act as an instruction manual to teach the other how to use her own things, this demand seed unreasonable.
But if she refused now, all previously agreed upon conditions would beco void. For the sake of the Island of Briff, she conceded reluctantly.
"Alright."
With Wu Chang’s demands recorded into the divine contract, Erin and the Great Saint Mother signed the agreent, activating the divine contract.
Upon the completion of the divine contract, both parties breathed a sigh of relief.
The Great Saint Mother believed that the Island of Briff was already hers, feeling a burst of joy.
Wu Chang, on the other hand, was pleased to have found a cheap ntor for Erin and to have gained an advanced sacrificial pawn to probe the Evil God Remains.
Both parties were very cautious about signing the divine contract, but neither ntioned a clause: during the contract’s duration, neither party shall harm the other.
It was as if they all trusted the other’s character, believing that the other would not turn against an ally.
Though both harbored sches, they were still allies now, unable to offend each other too much.
Wu Chang dissolved the Golden Country and released Archbishop Gelman.
Reappearing, Archbishop Gelman had lost all initial elegance and composure, his entire body drenched in water, his robes and hair clinging to his face, looking extrely disheveled.
More pathetic than his appearance was his deanor.
In just a few minutes, for Archbishop Gelman inside the Blind Abyss, it felt like an eternity had passed.
During this ti, the Blind Abyss had already breached his psychological defenses. At this mont, his senses were not fully restored, his eyes were vacant, his body twitched in panic, and he continued to hit his own head with his hands, loudly shouting:
"Stop it! Shut up!"
Seeing this, the Great Saint Mother ignited a white fla in her hand, placing it on Gelman’s forehead, softly saying:
"Lost child, the holy fire will guide your way."
Under the light of the holy fire, the terror on Gelman’s face gradually subsided, his furrowed brow relaxed, and he stopped desperately hitting his head, instead sinking into a deep sleep.
The Great Saint Mother looked up, just about to hold Wu Chang accountable, but Wu Chang spoke first:
"Oh, poor Lord Gelman, Great Saint Mother, if you didn’t harbor such strong hostility toward us and were willing to sit down for a good talk, he wouldn’t have had to suffer like this."
The Great Saint Mother felt choked, her face turning slightly red.
Currently, she couldn’t overpower this damn mortal, arguing with him wouldn’t gain any advantage, and would only lower her stature, so she pretended not to hear Wu Chang’s words, summoning two mbers of the National Church Knight Order to escort Gelman to rest.
With Gelman sent away, and no followers present, the Great Saint Mother no longer needed to maintain a mask of compassion and rcy.
Her gentle gaze turned cold, and her benevolent and serene aura beca unapproachable, "With less than four hours left until today ends, instead of wasting ti on trivialities, let’s discuss more strategies against the Master of the Deep Sea."
