Xiao Mo carried Yu Yunwei on his back and returned to the Wandao Sect. After so simple treatnt at the dical Hall, he went to Baishi Hall to report on their mission.

Yu Yunwei reported everything that happened on Black Cloud Mountain truthfully; there was no need for any concealnt.

After Yu Yunwei reported back, Baishi Hall would dispatch a Deacon to investigate the scene at Black Cloud Mountain to determine whether Yu Yunwei had been forced to act out of desperation, or if she had secretly killed her sect-mates for a treasure.

But even if Yu Yunwei had killed her sect-mates for a treasure, the final investigation would likely conclude that "the four fought and killed each other, and Yu Yunwei was forced to defend herself."

After all, Yu Yunwei ca back alive, and they were dead.

The dead can’t speak, so the living can say whatever they want.

However, after returning from this mission, Xiao Mo noticed that Yu Yunwei seed a little different than before.

How could he describe it?

Her temperant seed to have changed slightly.

The most obvious change was that during her lessons, although Yu Yunwei would still complain a bit, she was much more proactive in her studies than before.

She was even a little more serious when Xiao Mo taught her etiquette.

At first, Xiao Mo thought Yu Yunwei was up to sothing again and remained on high alert every day.

But gradually, Xiao Mo realized that she had indeed changed quite a bit.

Especially after every test Xiao Mo gave her, Yu Yunwei would look at the "Excellent" mark on her paper and feel genuinely happy.

Then she would ask Xiao Mo, "Hey, stinky Senior Brother, what do you think? I’m amazing, right!"

Xiao Mo initially didn’t want to bother with her.

But if Xiao Mo didn’t answer, she would just keep pestering him.

In the end, Xiao Mo had no choice but to say, "It’s pretty good."

Hearing Xiao Mo’s praise, Yu Yunwei beca even happier, skipping as she walked.

The Blood Demon, who was watching from the side, found the scene utterly unbelievable.

Although the Blood Demon spent her days doing little more than sleeping and drinking, only occasionally offering guidance to her two disciples, she knew the personality of her "second disciple" all too well.

’Yun Wei is extrely proud. Other than , her master, it’s almost impossible for her to submit to anyone.’

’In my view, the reason Yun Wei used to target Xiao Mo wasn’t just about wanting to be the sole disciple of Blood Sin Peak and hoarding all the resources. It was also partly because she didn’t want to acknowledge anyone as her senior brother. She’d much rather be the senior sister...’

’But now...’

’How co Yun Wei looks like a tad kitten?’

’Although Yun Wei still bares her teeth at Xiao Mo sotis and shows her little claws from ti to ti, she no longer actually tries to bite him like before.’

"Hey, you brat. What exactly happened between you and Yun Wei on Black Cloud Mountain that ti?" While Yun Wei was away, the intensely curious Blood Demon secretly asked Xiao Mo.

"I’ve already told you before. I just saved her life, that’s all," Xiao Mo said calmly.

"And that’s it?" The Blood Demon still felt sothing was off.

’How could a girl with Yun Wei’s personality change so drastically just from being saved once?’

"Perhaps her studies are finally having an effect, and she’s learning a bit about right and wrong," Xiao Mo explained, then glanced at the Blood Demon. "How about it? Do you want to read so books too?"

The Blood Demon blinked her eyes. Though she was thousands of years old, she feigned the innocence of a young maiden. "But I do read books, you know."

Xiao Mo’s brow twitched. He tossed the *Classic of Poetry* into her arms. "Read more of this, and less Liu Bei!"

Watching Xiao Mo walk away, the Blood Demon pouted. "Who’s to say Liu Bei isn’t a book?"

「In the blink of an eye, another year had passed.」

During this year, Xiao Mo successfully broke through to the Dragon Gate Realm.

The Dragon Gate Realm is the second major hurdle for a Cultivator, giving rise to the saying "Carp Leaping the Dragon Gate." To cross this "Dragon Gate," the vast majority of Cultivators prepare all sorts of Heavenly and Earthly Treasures to increase their chances of successfully Crossing the Tribulation and achieving a Realm Breakthrough.

But Xiao Mo hadn’t consud any Spirit dicine or Spirit Pills, nor had he used any Magical Treasures.

Just as with his previous Realm Breakthroughs, he crossed the "Dragon Gate" with ease.

In fact, the mont he stepped into the Dragon Gate Realm, he was already at the Mid-stage Dragon Gate Realm.

Although Xiao Mo’s talent had astonished the Blood Demon many tis before, this ti, he had truly surpassed her imagination.

’With talent like this, if he were in the Ancient Tis when Spiritual Power was at its most dense, reaching the legendary Lost Second Realm would be a simple matter for him.’

The Blood Demon mused to herself.

"Master, has anyone ever reached the mid-stage of the Dragon Gate Realm the mont they entered it?"

Just as the Blood Demon was lost in thought, Yu Yunwei, who was beside her, asked.

"Of course there has." The Blood Demon lifted her pale chin and ruffled her head. "When I entered the Dragon Gate Realm back in the day, I almost reached Perfection right away. This brat still has a ways to go."

"Master, you’re so amazing." Yu Yunwei’s eyes sparkled.

"But of course." The Blood Demon gave a bewitching smile, though it seed a little forced.

On the very day Xiao Mo entered the Dragon Gate Realm, the Blood Demon ordered a table full of food and several jars of fine wine from a restaurant in Wandao Town to celebrate his breakthrough.

「Night, on the summit of Blood Sin Peak.」

Under the starry sky, the Blood Demon lifted a wine jar and poured it straight past her rosy lips.

Xiao Mo felt that her celebrating for him was just an excuse; what she really wanted was to drink.

"What are you staring at? You two drink up, too."

The Blood Demon wiped the wine from her lips. The collar of her thin, red dress was already soaked, clinging tightly to the Zishan Snow Sea.

"I’m too young to drink." Xiao Mo took a bite of food and a sip of tea.

"Yun Wei, want so?" the Blood Demon asked with a smile, handing the wine jar to her.

"I..." Yu Yunwei really wanted to taste the wine, as she had never had it before.

But Yu Yunwei glanced at her senior brother beside her. He never allowed her to drink.

Yu Yunwei could only shake her head and say with a sweet smile, "Master, I don’t think I will..."

"It’s fine, it’s fine." The Blood Demon patted her heaving chest. "Master gives you special permission. You can drink today. If Xiao Mo dares to say anything, Master will back you up."

"Well..." Yu Yunwei glanced at Xiao Mo again.

Xiao Mo’s expression was calm; he just kept eating.

"No, thank you, Master." Yu Yunwei clutched the hem of her dress and shook her head firmly. "Yun Wei will drink with you when I’m older."

"Hmph... What that brat says is more effective than what I say now." The Blood Demon pouted, no longer trying to persuade her, and raised the wine jar to continue drinking.

The Blood Demon didn’t use her Spiritual Power to sober up, and the wine she was drinking was the "Drunken Immortal" brewed by the Wine Peak.

A few jars later, having barely touched the food, the Blood Demon collapsed onto the table.

’This woman...’

Watching her hug the wine jar and sleep soundly, Xiao Mo couldn’t help but shake his head.

"Yun Wei, clean up the food. I’ll take her back," Xiao Mo said.

"Okay, Senior Brother." Yu Yunwei nodded and started clearing the dishes.

Xiao Mo, for his part, hoisted the Blood Demon onto his back and started walking back to her courtyard.

On Xiao Mo’s back, the Blood Demon groggily woke up. She let out a full, wine-scented burp. "Huh? Where’s my wine?"

"Stop drinking," Xiao Mo said, exasperated. "The wine’s all gone. I’m carrying you back to your courtyard."

"Ooh." The Blood Demon wrapped her arms around Xiao Mo’s neck and giggled foolishly. "HEHEHE, taking disciples is pretty great. Soone even takes you ho when you’re drunk."

Xiao Mo sighed. "Next ti, I’ll just throw you off the mountain."

"You brat..." The Blood Demon poked Xiao Mo’s cheek with her soft fingertips. "You’re always so disrespectful to your master."

"You should try acting like a master first." Xiao Mo hitched the Blood Demon’s legs up higher to keep her from slipping off.

"How do I not act like a master?" The Blood Demon straightened her lithe waist on Xiao Mo’s back and shouted, "I act very much like a master, okay?"

"Alright, alright, alright."

’What else could I say to a drunkard?’

But then again, this was the first ti Xiao Mo had ever seen the Blood Demon so drunk. She was like a little child.

"Xiao Mo," the Blood Demon called out, ruffling his hair.

"What?"

"Call Master, let hear it."

"No."

"Co on, just once."

"I’m not going to."

"Co on, just call it! Just once is fine, co on..." the Blood Demon whined like a little girl throwing a tantrum.

Xiao Mo sighed helplessly. "Master..."

"Too quiet. Your master didn’t hear that."

"Master."

"One more ti. Your master still didn’t hear it."

"MASTER!!!"

Xiao Mo yelled, his voice echoing through the mountain forest.

"Hehe!" the Blood Demon answered, then flopped contentedly onto Xiao Mo’s back, her eyes curving with delight. "See? You do know how to call Master."

Xiao Mo: "..."

"My disciple," the Blood Demon said, resting her head near Xiao Mo’s neck. "There’s sothing I want you to promise your master, okay?"

"What is it?" Xiao Mo was already feeling numb. For the first ti, he felt like the Blood Demon’s courtyard was impossibly far away.

"You and Yun Wei... you have to live well in the future. Don’t you dare die, okay...?"

"You’re actually worried about us dying?" Xiao Mo said with a chuckle.

"Of course." The Blood Demon’s voice grew fainter, her consciousness like a high-flying kite whose string could snap at any mont. "If you two die... I’ll... I’ll be very sad..."

Xiao Mo: "..."

"Promise , hurry. Please promise ... Promise... promise ..."

As the Blood Demon’s last word faded, she rested against Xiao Mo’s neck and fell silent. Only the sound of her steady breathing remained, gently brushing against his cheek.

Xiao Mo walked onward, step by step. As the moonlight shone down on the master and disciple, the gentle breeze carried his voice away:

"Okay."
