As Su Chen's BMW stopped at the front door of Building No. 2 of the municipal committee, Pei Rou was already coming out.
"Did you have fun?"
Pei Rou asked with a grin, but the implication behind that smile was unmistakable.
"Yeah, it was pretty fun," Su Chen nodded before asking, "Auntie, why haven't you rested yet?"
"Of course, I was waiting for you two!" Pei Rou said with a smile, "How could I rest easy without you guys back?"
"Don't do this in the future," Tang Yun said with a touch of moved concern.
"It's fine, next ti if it's this late, no need to co back. Just give a call to let know you're safe," Pei Rou instructed naturally.
Both of them felt a bit awkward hearing what Pei Rou had said; it seed like she completely mistook their relationship.
Neither of them tried to explain, knowing it would be pointless anyways; Pei Rou wouldn't believe them no matter what.
"Auntie, it's getting late, I should leave," Su Chen quickly said, just in case Pei Rou suggested that he stay over, which would be troubleso.
Based on Su Chen's understanding of Madam Tang, she was very likely to suggest such a thing.
"Alright, drive safely, Su," Pei Rou instructed, not having thought of that at the mont.
"Okay, I will," Su Chen quickly got into his car and vanished in a cloud of dust.
"This kid, even though I told him to drive slowly, he's still driving so fast!"
Pei Rou complained as she and Tang Yun entered the house together.
However, Tang Yun found herself suffering from insomnia that night, with her mind in utter turmoil...
Of course, all of this was unknown to Su Chen. When he returned to the villa, Lin Ruoxue and Wang's mother had already gone to bed; they were long accustod to him coming ho late at night.
Without delay, Su Chen went straight to his room to start his daily cultivation...
The next day's weather was splendid, with a clear sky as far as the eye could see—a rare sight in the deep autumn.
The weather was beautiful, and so was Su Chen's mood, though this good feeling sowhat faded as soon as he arrived at the company.
Because just as he was walking toward the company's entrance, he happened to run into Xia Qiuru. Xia Qiuru was on her way out, and he had intended to greet her.
But as soon as Xia Qiuru saw him, she quickly lowered her head, sped up her pace, and breezed past him without a word as if he were a gust of wind...
Leaving Su Chen with a raised hand awkwardly suspended midair...
Seeing this, Su Chen could only let out a silent sigh. Ever since the last ti she asked him to be her date and he rejected her, she seed to have been avoiding him.
"Looks like I need to find a good ti to have a proper talk with Xia Qiuru," Su Chen sighed and shook his head as he headed back to the security departnt.
Due to Xia Qiuru's behavior, Su Chen's mood was a bit off, to the point where he didn't even feel like playing gas, and just lay back in his chair, zoning out.
Suddenly, his cell phone on the desk started to ring. He glanced at it indifferently, intending not to answer, but when he saw the very familiar number on the screen, he imdiately sat up.
"Could it be sothing happened at the Temple?" Su Chen answered the phone sowhat nervously.
"Hall Master dear, you're going to miss to death!" A voice even more annoying than Su Chen's ca from the other end of the line.
After hearing that annoying voice, Su Chen's heart eased, and he imdiately scoffed:
"Jester, why would you contact if it's nothing? Didn't I tell Lone Wolf to let you guys know not to bother if it's nothing?"
Though his words sounded harsh, there was a hint of nostalgia in his heart for the familiar voice.
"After such a long ti, don't you miss us at all?" ca a sowhat plaintive voice from the other end.
How could Su Chen possibly not miss them? But still, his mouth said:
"Miss what, you bunch of assholes? Aside from causing trouble everywhere every day, what else can you do? I'd rather be far away from you guys for so peace!"
"But we miss you," ca the abrupt response over the phone. "How about I co to see you?"
"Don't you dare! Just stay put in Europe!"
Su Chen exclaid in shock, quickly adding.
If this guy ca over, who knew what kind of trouble he might stir up?
"Haha, it's too late, I'm already on the plane, I'll arrive in Jianghai at 11!"
After saying that, the call was ended.
"This asshole!"
Su Chen couldn't help but curse under his breath, yet he was powerless to do anything about it.
In the Nether Temple, these old brothers, aside from being utterly obedient to him and not daring to contradict him on important matters, didn't treat him as the Hall Master at all other tis.
Even though Clown hadn't arrived yet, Su Chen was already starting to feel a headache coming on!
In the Nether Temple, aside from Su Chen, this guy was the most restless.
However, besides the impending headache, Su Chen was genuinely pleased; after all, it had been over a year since he'd seen them, and he indeed missed them a lot.
Since his brother was coming, Su Chen naturally wanted to go pick him up, so at 10:40, he grabbed his car keys and rushed out the door in a hurry.
At this mont, Lin Ruoxue happened to be returning from an errand outside, and the two of them almost collided at the doorway.
"Why are you in such a rush?"
Lin Ruoxue gave him a glance and asked.
"Oh, my brother's coming, I'm going to pick him up at the airport."
Having said that, Su Chen kept heading out the door.
Watching his figure, Lin Ruoxue's eyes suddenly brightened, and she imdiately called out:
"Wait!"
"What is it?"
Su Chen stopped in his tracks and asked, puzzled.
"I don't really have anything going on. Let's go together."
Lin Ruoxue proposed casually.
"You coming with ?"
Su Chen's expression grew even more confused, unclear on what Lin Ruoxue was up to.
"Can't I? Or do you feel ashad to be seen with ? Or maybe you don't want your brothers to know you have a wife like ?"
Lin Ruoxue's countenance suddenly turned cold as she spoke.
She didn't realize that this was the first ti she referred to herself as Su Chen's wife.
Even if Su Chen used those words, she used to find them awkward, but now she had said them quite naturally.
"How could that be? Right now, I wish I could take a gaphone and tell the whole world you're my wife!"
Seeing that Lin Ruoxue was upset, Su Chen imdiately puffed out his chest and stated proudly, raising his voice by several decibels.
Although Su Chen still didn't know why Lin Ruoxue suddenly wanted to join him in picking soone up, he knew what to say at the mont to please a woman.
After all, won need to be cajoled!
"Keep it down, will you? What if soone hears you?"
Lin Ruoxue startled, quickly interjecting.
She hurriedly looked around; thankfully, there weren't many people nearby. Sighing in relief, she patted her chest.
"See, it's not that I don't want people to know you're my wife, but you don't want to. That's what they call 'Officials are allowed to set fires, but commoners can't even light a lamp'!"
Su Chen teased her, looking at her anxious deanor.
