Wabei burst out in laughter, as though he could not stand the foolish behavior of Gu Mengmeng and Elvis in front of him. He walked in front of Gu Mengmeng and smiled coldly, then he reached out his head to press on Elvis’ neck.
Gu Mengmeng was frightened and said in a panic, “Little shit, what are you doing? Let go quickly.”
Wabei continued to smile slightly and applied more force to his fingers.
Elvis’ muscles were tight. He was afraid of harming Gu Mengmeng in his arms so he placed her down, then said with much difficulty, “Step back.”
Gu Mengmeng did not understand why Wabei had suddenly attacked Elvis but she knew that with Elvis’ capability as a Beast King, it would be best for her to step back so that he could retaliate and not be bothered by her safety.
Following his instructions, she stepped back and Elvis grasped onto Wabei’s hand to try to break free from his clutch, but it was obviously useless.
Elvis swung his leg to hit Wabei’s chest hard, but he still did not bulge.
This was not right, Wabei was a fifth-level beast and Elvis was a Beast King.
And the situation now…
Wabei was pletely unbothered by Elvis’ attacks and turned his head to look at Gu Mengmeng, saying, “Aren’t you intending to try your Fury of Beast King?”
Gu Mengmeng instinctively held the back of her neck. Seeing that Elvis’ face was already turning purple, she could tell that Wabei was really going to kill him.
Clenching her teeth, Gu Mengmeng said, “Wabei, release!”
But Wabei only snickered and did not let go. Instead, he made a turn while holding onto Elvis and walked in front of Gu Mengmeng, until he was only a step away. Then, he released his fingers and Elvis, who had fainted from the strangle, fell to the ground with a loud thud.
“Do you understand now?” Wabei asked softly.
Gu Mengmeng frowned and shook her head.
She remembered that when she had just retrieved Soul of the Forest, she shouted at Wabei by accident and he instantly collapsed to the ground because of the Snake King’s domineering pressure.
From then on, she never dared to shout at him as she was afraid that she would unintentionally harm him.
But that day…
Gu Mengmeng touched the back of her neck and asked, “Did my mark change again? It had degenerated to bee Snake’s protection mark, no longer the Snake Clan’s family mark, is it?”
“You’re not so dumb after all,” Wabei raised his brows, seemingly slightly pleased.
Gu Mengmeng understood that Elvis was a wolf and could not tell a difference between snakes, so he could not tell the change in the mark behind her neck.
But Wabei was a snake and in his eyes, this change was very obvious.
With her arms hanging on both sides of her body, Gu Mengmeng felt her heart emptied.
There were some things that could not be resolved by escaping. Regardless of how much she wanted to pretend that she had not found out, she could not always lie to herself.
