Now reading: Chapter 101 101: The Gap in Power! from Becoming Enkidu in DxD, a Action novel by FaaanzKun.

Under the crushing pressure of overwhelming magical energy, Katerea finally began to regain her senses.

Ophis's "snake" had launched her to Maou-class in a single step—a power so intoxicating, she had briefly believed herself untouchable.

But reality was cruel.

Especially when that arrogance was shattered by absolute, unrelenting defeat.

Now, the magical energy radiating from Akira far exceeded anything she could hope to match. The haze clouding her judgnt slowly cleared, replaced with sothing far more primal—

Terror.

And it was already too late.

There was no path for escape. No option to fight back. All she could do was stare into the abyss swallowing her.

"Boost."

The quiet voice triggered another surge. The Thunder Dragon—Blue Lightning Light—let out a roar that seed to split the sky itself.

Its body rapidly swelled, the lightning intensifying around it, cascading in waves across the battlefield.

Searing bolts slamd into the ground, vaporizing everything they touched.

"Katerea, was it?" Akira's voice echoed—calm, yet deathly cold. "Will you vanish in this storm of thunder and lightning? Reduced to dust, never to be rembered?"

The dragon's roar returned, rattling the heavens.

It dove—silver lightning tearing through the air like judgnt itself.

"N-No... Stay back! STAY AWAY! Vali! Help !!"

Katerea's voice cracked, her scream shrill with panic as she looked desperately toward Vali.

Tears and blood stained her face, the fear of death consuming every inch of her pride.

But Vali's expression remained emotionless.

"That's your battle. I'm not involved."

"Vali! You... you're really going to abandon ?! After everything we—!"

She didn't finish.

The dragon struck.

A colossal impact engulfed the field, turning the area into a storming sea of silver lightning. The sky itself glowed with electricity as the land was vaporized beneath it.

A mont later... silence.

Katerea was gone.

There was no scream. No trace. Just a crater scorched with divine thunder, and the lingering scent of ash.

Yet—sothing peculiar happened.

The "snake" that had dwelled inside Katerea didn't perish along with her. Instead of being annihilated by Akira's magic, it vanished... as if recalled.

Akira narrowed his eyes.

He could feel it clearly, through his affinity with lightning.

That wasn't destruction—it was retrieval.

Ophis had pulled it back.

It made sense. The power never belonged to Katerea. It was simply a fragnt of the Infinite Dragon's essence—reclaid at the mont of her defeat.

[Ding!]

A small smile curled on Akira's lips.

That alone made this battle worthwhile.

But his gaze shifted now—toward the remaining mages of the Khaos Brigade still standing in the distance.

His smile widened.

"Well… I am in a pretty good mood right now. Let's clean up the rest of the trash too."

A sudden tallic chi echoed across the field.

From every direction, divine chains exploded forth—Chains of Heaven – Enkidu, under Akira's command, shot through the air with ruthless precision.

The mages couldn't even scream.

Their bodies were pierced, bound, and flung like broken dolls.

So were impaled multiple tis, dangling in the air like cursed marionettes.

Within seconds, over three-quarters of the Khaos Brigade's magic force had been wiped out.

Blood and shattered flesh littered the ground, transforming the once-pristine battlefield into a grotesque scene of carnage.

It was hell incarnate.

Everyone watching—every peerage, every leader—fell silent.

Akira's face remained calm. His smile was gentle, his aura warm… but the brutality he just unleashed painted a different picture entirely.

There was no mistaking it now.

This wasn't a boy blessed with power.

This was a devil in human skin.

"Rias," Akira called out without looking back. "The leader of the Khaos Brigade is down. The stragglers are finished. Your turn—go save that useless vampire."

"Eh? A-Ah! Right! I'm on it!"

Rias snapped out of her daze. She had been frozen, stunned by everything she'd just seen.

Shaking off her hesitation, she rushed toward the old building where Gasper was being held.

anwhile, Sona Sitri watched Akira's back in silence, her expression unreadable. But the change in her perception was undeniable.

Her entire peerage bowed their heads low, fear visible in their eyes.

Even Hanakai Momo, who had often tried to approach Akira with casual friendliness, now trembled.

She may have been a reincarnated devil, but at her core, she was still a fifteen-year-old girl.

And witnessing this kind of violence… it carved sothing into her soul that wouldn't fade easily.

Saji Genshirou—the only male in Sona's peerage—looked utterly pale.

Why had he ever thought challenging Akira was a good idea?

If Akira had been even slightly angry with him back then...

He gulped.

He'd be one of those corpses in the air right now.

"Fuh... That's that."

Akira let out a long breath and turned away, walking casually like nothing had happened.

Michael, having seen everything from start to finish, felt a deep wariness settling in his heart.

He had known Akira was powerful.

But this—this darkness… this cruelty—was not sothing he had expected to see.

"Shin Akira..." Vali murmured, watching him. "At this rate… I'll never catch up unless I break through that limit first."

Akira shot him a glance.

"I told you already. I won't repeat myself," he said calmly. "A defeated enemy is no longer my concern. I'm giving you ti, Vali. Ti to catch up—until the day you can't anymore."

Vali fell silent.

Those words… they weren't arrogance.

Not anymore.

They were simply the truth.

Back then, on that rainy night… Vali had dismissed them as overconfidence.

But now?

Now he realized Akira's progress was like a rocket piercing through the sky—unstoppable and defying all logic.

anwhile, even after pushing himself and reaching Ultimate-Class Devil, Vali was still far behind.

Make no mistake—Vali Lucifer was a rare prodigy. A miracle, even. Reaching Ultimate-Class by seventeen and wielding Divine Dividing—the White Dragon Emperor.

He could match Maou-class beings already.

But none of that mattered.

This world—the system itself—seed to favor Akira.

Even his lineage as a descendant of Lucifer couldn't compare to the 'cheat' that Akira carried.

From the side, Michael noticed sothing odd. A small detail.

Right before her death… Katerea had begged Vali for help.

That ant sothing. He wanted to ask about it, but the timing wasn't right.

After all, Vali was still part of Grigori, the Fallen Angel organization.

And at the sa ti, he clearly had so form of connection with Akira—the current Red Dragon Emperor.

"By the way," Akira suddenly turned toward Vali, "Did you deliver my ssage to Kuroka?"

Vali nodded.

"I did. But... she said she won't be coming. At least, not yet."

"What?"

"She's waited for years, she said. A few more days won't make a difference."

"Tch… That siscon-cat... What the hell is she thinking?"

Akira let out a long sigh.

In the original story, Kuroka had done everything to protect her little sister—to be with her, to free her.

But now that the misunderstandings were cleared...

Why wasn't she showing up?

From the shadows, Koneko—no, Shirone—watched Akira silently.

She hadn't expected this.

He knew about her sister.

And not only that… he had personally asked the White Dragon Emperor to contact her.

She had no idea how to process that.

Not yet.
