Now reading: Chapter 224 224: Godslaying: The Fall of Ishtar from Becoming Enkidu in DxD, a Action novel by FaaanzKun.

A faint crack ran along the divine chains binding Ishtar's body.

But in the next mont, under the surge of Shin Akira's magic power, the cracks nded themselves as if they were never there.

Even so, it was undeniable—now that Ishtar had regained her divine power, her strength far surpassed Akira's initial estimation.

Even the Heavenly Chains, known to restrain beings of high divinity, were starting to falter.

"What…? Sothing that can hold back my divine power? Just what are you?!"

Right after her divine powers had reawakened, Ishtar found herself unable to break free. No matter how much she struggled, the divine energy inside her was sealed off by a force she couldn't comprehend.

This wasn't just an insult—it was a scar etched into the annals of immortality. A goddess, bound by a mortal? Unforgivable.

"Chains of Heaven. The strongest weapon forged by the gods in sopotamian myth."

"sopotamia…? That pantheon lost to history…?"

"Oh? So the gods of sopotamia existed in this world too?"

"This world…?"

That word struck her.

For the first ti, Ishtar realized sothing. It explained why a mortal like Shin Akira could wield power beyond logic.

Ever since the gods descended from the Upper World a thousand years ago, mortals had been re pawns in their divine gas. The Lower World had beco their playground. The legends of heroes and knights were nothing but fading echoes of a long-gone era.

But if Shin Akira wasn't from this world…

It all made sense.

[Boost!]

A crimson gauntlet shaped like a dragon's claw materialized on Akira's arm, its core humming with escalating energy. His Transcendent-level power instantly multiplied.

The entire palace had already been consud by darkness. Though technically they were still inside the sa building, the space beyond the obsidian walls was no longer Orario—it was his domain, the Shadow Realm.

More importantly, the sensation of being "rejected" by this world had vanished completely.

And even with Ishtar having unleashed her divine powers, no holy light descended to return her to the heavens.

Which ant this Shadow Realm was a space that defied the gods' laws. A true autonomous world.

[Balance Breaker!]

Crimson armor erupted across his body, encasing him in the form of a blazing red dragon. Shin Akira stood tall—like a humanoid incarnation of divine wrath.

To a Transcendent like him, maintaining a realm the size of this was nothing.

"A… dragon-type artifact? Another one? That's impossible… How many divine weapons do you possess?!"

To Ishtar, the Chains of Heaven alone were already a Divine Armant—sacred weapons wielded only by gods or, in rare cases, by mortals blessed by divinity.

And now… this?

"Prepare yourself, Goddess Ishtar. This is your end."

"You... you're going to kill a god?"

"Why? Is that so shocking?"

"You insolent mortal! In a human body, you dare dream of slaying a god?! You're mad! Arrogant! We deities were birthed by the world itself—eternal and undying! You think you can kill ?"

"I don't need to erase you from existence. Just destroying your current form is enough. Whether you're reborn or not isn't my concern. Give ten years, and I'll surpass every god like you."

"Foolish child… There's no need to kill. Just staining your body with divine blood is enough to doom you. You'll be cursed—trapped in endless tornt, neither dead nor truly alive."

"That's not your problem anymore."

With a sharp motion, Akira's clawed gauntlet pierced straight through Ishtar's chest.

But instead of blood, golden light burst forth like glowing ichor.

[This is… divine blood… and… a curse?]

"A curse?"

Akira narrowed his eyes. Within Ishtar's divine essence… sothing sinister stirred.

"Shin Akira, enjoy the future that awaits you—one called hell! When I return from the Celestial Throne, I'll descend with my own hands… and make your soul my eternal slave!"

Rather than screaming in pain, Ishtar laughed—mocking, twisted, triumphant.

A beam of golden-black energy surged from her body and shot into Akira's chest before he could react.

Her form, still bound by the Chains of Heaven, dissolved into particles of golden light… and vanished.

He had done it.

Shin Akira had achieved the impossible—he had slain a god.

But only her physical body was gone.

Ishtar's divine soul had already returned to the Upper World. There, she would begin to reconstruct her power, reform her vessel, and eventually return.

It might take ten years. A hundred. A thousand.

To mortals, even a decade was a lifeti. But to gods… a millennium passed in the blink of an eye.

And now, Akira bore her curse.

Stained by divine blood. Marked by a god's wrath. A streak of dark-golden energy had fused with his soul. No matter how many tis he reincarnated, Ishtar would always be able to find him.

"…This isn't what I imagined. Did I really 'kill' her? Why does it feel more like… I just sent her ho?"

The unease in his chest was real.

Sothing about this felt… incomplete.

[Shin Akira, I'm going to sleep for a while]

"Huh? Why?"

[The divine blood and curse now fused with you… are triggering an evolution in the Boosted Gear. And your own will is aiding that process. This is a rare opportunity]

"An evolution, huh… Got it."

[Until we et again… Partner]

Ddraig's voice faded, and Akira gave a quiet nod.

A faint tallic chi echoed as the divine chains around him dissolved. At the sa ti, the Shadow Realm began devouring the remains of Ishtar's palace.

In seconds, everything was gone.

Only an abyss of shadow and silence remained.

His mission was complete.

Akira slowly withdrew his power. The Transcendent energy, the sacred might of the gods, and the authority of the Chains of Heaven—all faded from his body.

He stepped out of the realm of darkness, returning through the veil of shadow.

anwhile, chaos had erupted in what remained of the Ishtar Familia.

The chains that had rained from the heavens had caused panic and casualties. Their goddess and her grand palace had been swallowed by darkness.

The once-mighty Familia had devolved into madness, like ants drenched in boiling water.

Total collapse.
