She fled, surviving by exorcising evil spirits while being relentlessly pursued by the Hijima clan. Until one day, she encountered a young girl—Rias Gremory.

Rias chose to protect her. In the na of the Gremory family, she negotiated directly with the Hijima clan and forced them to back down.

Since then, Akeno and Rias beca close friends, growing up and learning together.
