Akira froze on the spot.
Even though he'd only ever seen her in ani, and wasn't sure if he could recognize characters in a "real-life" version of the world, the mont he laid eyes on her—he just knew.
It wasn't because she looked drastically different from her animated self. In fact, it was the opposite. Her appearance—and especially the Kuoh Academy uniform—were nearly identical, just in the girls' version.
At Kuoh Academy, there was only one petite, silver-haired girl with golden eyes and an unmistakable kuudere aura...
Toujou Koneko.
She was a reincarnated Devil from the nekomata race—a Rook under Rias Gremory, the crimson-haired heiress of the Gremory family.
She was also one of the main heroines of this world.
But instead of being thrilled to et a major female lead, Akira's first reaction was… anxiety.
He knew better than to be fooled by the ani version. This city was part of Rias Gremory's territory.
That might not be a problem for a regular human. But Akira was now a Low-Class Devil.
His very existence would attract attention.

He turned.
Only to find Koneko Toujou staring directly at him—those big golden eyes fixed on him with unnerving intensity.
Her gaze made the hairs on the back of his neck stand on end.
There was a hint of curiosity, and sothing else... a subtle wariness, maybe?
"U-uh... Is sothing wrong, miss?" (Akira)
"You're… unusual. Your scent... draws to you. Who exactly are you?" (Koneko)
"Eh… I, uh..."
Akira panicked.
How the hell was he supposed to explain this?!
Wait a sec—he had a scent?!
A scent that made Koneko Toujou want to approach him?
With those erald-green eyes, shoulder-length bright green hair, and a face that was just a little too beautiful for a guy… if not for his clothes, people might seriously mistake him for a pretty girl.
"I'm Toujou Koneko. First-year student at Kuoh Academy. Nice to et you."
Completely out of the blue, Koneko introduced herself with perfect composure.
"I'm Shin Akira. Second-year transfer student to Kuoh Academy. I start tomorrow. Nice to et you too."
"Senpai~"
Just like that, she called him "senpai," leaving Akira utterly speechless.
Seriously?! That casual?!
Sothing wasn't right.
In the original series, Toujou Koneko was the definition of a classic kuudere. Cold, quiet, detached—she barely spoke to strangers, let alone introduced herself first.

So why was she behaving like this now?

Koneko suddenly turned her head across the street. Her expression shifted, growing serious.
Without saying a word, she darted off—crossing the road at a sprint.
Akira, not knowing why, instinctively followed her.
The two of them entered a nearby apartnt building and quickly climbed to the third floor.
And that's when it hit him—a strong, tallic stench.
The sll of blood.
Thick, heavy, and unmistakable.
Sothing bad had happened here.
