Silvanus was just getting back on his feet when a face suddenly stopped right in front of him.
Nana stood motionless. From Silvanus’s angle, all he could see was the soft yet sharply defined curve of her chin.
Then, without warning, she lowered her head and raised her leg.
Silvanus frowned and rolled to the side at top speed before springing back up.
He looked at Nana and smiled. "Why didn’t you keep going?"
Nana tilted her head, sneering. "I’m strong, not stupid."
Imdiately after, the rumbling noise grew louder and louder, as though sothing enormous was drawing near. Then, under everyone’s disbelieving gazes, a part of that thing’s body slowly erged from the door.
It was a shade of jade blue, translucent, its body covered in dark azure scales that glead like fish scales. Along its spine flowed a mane of cloud-like fur—ethereal yet full of power.
Just what kind of beast could co out of such a small doorway?
That question was on everyone’s mind—Silvanus’s group as well as the spectators watching the battle from afar.
After all, this was the first ti in history that soone had truly discovered a door leading outside!
"Graaaaawwwww!"
A thunderous roar burst forth, sweeping the air with a violent gust. The beast’s head had erged.
It resembled the head of an ancient Eastern dragon—slanted azure eyes radiating light, a massive horn jutting from its head, clear as glass and exuding chilling air. Its long tongue flickered between rows of sharp teeth, while two whiskers, each nearly three ters long, curled and drifted in the wind.
Its glowing eyes were fixed on Silvanus’s group. Then, with a powerful surge, the beast leaped fully out of the door!
All four of its legs struck the ground, shaking the earth with a violent tremor. Its entire form was now laid bare before everyone’s eyes.
A long neck, over two ters tall, connected to a lion-like body that stretched more than seven ters in length.
Its four limbs were thick and muscular, its entire body clad in scales—except for its legs and spine, where fiery, cloud-like fur billowed and curled endlessly upward.
Its tail, more than two ters long, arched high, its tip crowned with a tuft of fla-like white fur that blazed and danced in the air.
It moved gracefully around them, each step light yet echoing with power. Its cunning eyes glead as they locked onto the humans who had just appeared before it.
"This is... this is an ancient creature!"
"Does anyone rember? I’m sure I’ve read sothing about it before..."
"This is a Kirin of the Ice Elent! But... does it really exist?"
Below, the headmaster and the Elders couldn’t hide their changing expressions.
The headmaster spoke softly, "A Kirin should only appear in the deep sea."
"Could it be that one..."
"Don’t speculate. Right now, we can only hope these future students manage to crush their Lumins instead of trying to fight that Kirin..."
Of course, that was impossible—because every student here had their own reasons to seek invincibility.
Silvanus raised his voice. "Matthew, Ariana, I’ll lure the beast away. You two take the chance to enter the door. If anything unusual happens, crush your Lumin imdiately."
Ariana opened her mouth to protest, but before she could speak, Matthew grabbed her arm and pulled her along, saying in a low voice, "We’ll only get in Silvanus’s way if we stay here!"
Nana sneered. "I already said, I’ll be the first one to step through that door."
But at that mont, soone suddenly grabbed her wrist. Nana’s eyes widened as she looked toward Silvanus.
He was gazing at her thoughtfully. "You always say you want to be the strongest. Don’t you want to take down this powerful beast? Co with ."
Nana narrowed her eyes, then roughly flung his hand aside.
She raised her other hand and brushed her wrist off with disdain, smirking. "Don’t touch , commoner. The dirt on your hands can’t be washed off even in a lifeti."
Silvanus: "..."
He didn’t look offended—only stared at her intently, as though waiting for an answer.
Nana lifted one hand beside her. Her palm faced upward, and a sphere of light began to form there—growing larger and brighter by the second.
She stepped forward slowly. "I’ll bring this beast down myself. I don’t need anyone’s help."
At that very mont, the Kirin let out another roar and lunged forward. In the blink of an eye, its body turned into a blur—so fast that even Nana couldn’t track it.
Now, the Kirin’s figure had completely vanished from sight.
"So fast..." Nana muttered under her breath.
Then she suddenly looked up—just in ti to see the Kirin dive from above, claws and fangs bared, aiming straight for her!
Nana lifted her hand at the sa ti, eting its charge head-on. The sphere of light in her palm exploded, releasing a brilliance like that of a supernova—its radiance drowning out everything around them.
Silvanus dashed forward without hesitation, grabbing Matthew and Ariana and hurling them straight through the door before swiftly turning back. The blinding light didn’t hinder his vision in the slightest.
He could see the creature roaring in fury. The radiance from Nana’s attack clearly caused it pain—but that was all. Not even a single scale had been damaged! And yet, that strike of Nana’s had been mighty.
A grim truth began to dawn on Silvanus—they were no match for this creature.
Without a second’s delay, he conjured a strand of light that shot out and wrapped around Nana, yanking her back toward him.
Nana, who had been fighting with her full strength, was suddenly pulled off balance. Her eyes widened in shock—she barely had ti to react before Silvanus caught her in his arms.
On the other side, deprived of her resistance, the Kirin slamd both front legs down onto the icy ground. The surface beneath it shattered instantly into countless cracks! Shards of ice broke free and floated upward, forming a swirling storm of frozen mist.
Its sharp, glacial eyes imdiately locked onto Silvanus.
"What the hell do you think you’re doing? Let go, you filthy commoner!"
Silvanus was speechless for a mont. This woman really couldn’t stop insulting people—even now.
Ignoring her words, he threw her toward the door before she could act further. "We’re not its match," he said flatly.
With that, he leaped in after her.
But just as he was about to cross the threshold, a deep, primal chill surged up his spine.
His instincts scread. A radiant shield instantly flared to life around him, cocooning his body in a sphere of light.
At the sa ti, the Kirin unleashed sothing strange from its mouth—a chaotic surge of energy made of ice, light, and star-like motes.
It was like sli... and yet like liquid... or perhaps sothing that wasn’t either.
In an instant, Silvanus’s vision was engulfed by it. It didn’t break his shield—but his sight began to twist, his senses spinning wildly, as if he had been pulled into a strange passage that dragged him ever forward.
Then, the stars before his eyes suddenly flared—brighter and brighter—until he was forced to shut his eyes against the searing brilliance.
The next mont, he felt it—the air around him turning deathly cold.
No... this wasn’t the chill of the frozen plains he had just left behind. This cold was far deeper, far sharper.
Where... where was he being taken?
