Silvanus had even guessed the bloody ending that would co once that strange monster caught him and Matthew. But things far exceeded his expectations when Matthew smoothly managed to start a fire, and even sohow produced an iron griddle from nowhere before beginning to roast rice cakes.

Silvanus could not help frowning, feeling that this was growing stranger and stranger. How could there possibly be an iron griddle here? This was clearly an open patch of ground, and up until the mont Matthew took out that iron griddle, Silvanus had seen absolutely nothing here other than dirt.

Yet Matthew did not seem to find anything strange about it. When he sensed Silvanus's gaze, he even asked in confusion, "What's wrong?" Then he gave a light cough, making his tone sound more domineering and decisive. "Sit down."

Silvanus: "..." He absolutely did not want to stay with this silly little brat who loved putting on airs. But slling the fragrance in the air, he ultimately just sat down.

The stiff rice cake roasting over the fire had now puffed up, revealing the soft, chewy flesh inside. Watching this scene, Silvanus could not help letting out an astonished "Wow," instinctively swallowing his saliva. The flickering firelight danced in his eyes, dazzlingly bright.

Matthew looked at him sowhat blankly. The next mont, Silvanus suddenly lifted his head, and the two of them found themselves face to face. Without waiting for Matthew to speak, Silvanus said, "Hurry and flip it, it'll burn!"

Only then did Matthew rember his task. And the mont he flipped the cake, Silvanus did not even spare him another glance.

Staring at the rice cake that had puffed to three tis its original size, Silvanus seed a little more well-behaved than before and asked softly, "Can we eat now?"

Matthew suddenly laughed. Silvanus could not help frowning at him, though he did not say anything.

He knew he was freeloading, and he ought to behave himself a little.

In the end, Silvanus finally got his wish and bit into the soft, chewy rice cake. It was a little hot, but undeniably delicious.

Because of that, Matthew looked far more pleasing in Silvanus's eyes.

Seeing a portion of the cake being held out in front of him, Matthew could not help looking at Silvanus.

Silvanus lifted his chin and said, "You're not eating?"

When Matthew did not move, Silvanus was just about to pop the remaining piece into his mouth when Matthew reached out and took it.

Silvanus: "..." This big guy is really slow.

Seeing Silvanus's speechless expression, Matthew could not help finding it a little amusing. He suddenly said, "Can I pat your head?"

Silvanus asked, "Then can I keep eating the cake?"

Matthew nodded. "I'll grill it right away."

Silvanus once again watched as Matthew, as if performing a magic trick, produced another rice cake out of nowhere and placed it on the iron griddle.

He wondered whether Matthew felt any of this was strange. To Silvanus, it all felt like a dream, from the strange monster to the strange Matthew…

But before Silvanus could think any further, a hand suddenly pressed down on his head.

He frowned and looked up, only to see Matthew staring at him with shining eyes, his hand still repeatedly pressing on his head.

Silvanus's entire head was pushed down. He directly slapped Matthew's hand away. "What the hell are you doing?"

Matthew looked innocent. "Am I doing it wrong?" he muttered, "You used to do it like this too…"

Silvanus did not hear Matthew clearly. Looking at Matthew's foolish expression, he finally seed to resign himself to fate. He raised his own hand and rubbed his own head as a demonstration. Seeing that Matthew still wore that dumb look, he simply stood up and ruffled Matthew's head instead. "Got it now, idiot?"

Matthew: "... I saved you. Why are you still calling an idiot?"

"Sorry." Silvanus said it very sincerely, then turned his gaze back to the cake over the fire.

Matthew: "..."

"Why aren't you asking about the monster out there?" Matthew could not help asking again.

"I'm eating like this is my last al, aren't I?" The cake was done now. Silvanus ate happily, and this ti he did not bother sharing with Matthew.

Matthew felt a deep sense of failure. Clearly, Silvanus was only a child right now, yet he felt as though he could not even coax a child.

Even now, sitting opposite Silvanus, he was still cautious with every single word. anwhile, no matter what situation Silvanus fell into, he was still just Silvanus. He could always face everything with a truly… strange state of mind.

Matthew wondered what, in the past, had made him so obsessed with Silvanus. Silvanus had saved his life. He only knew that if he clung to Silvanus, he could survive.

He knew he was not only weak, but also a jealous person. It felt as though soone like him did not deserve to live at all…

But he… he had truly only wanted Silvanus to stay by his side. He had never wanted to kill Silvanus.

Yet he realized that he no longer seed to belong to himself.

He could follow his instincts and accept all of the malicious will of the Outer God, but killing Silvanus alone was impossible…

"What are you thinking about?" At that mont, that childish voice rang out again.

Matthew looked at Silvanus. His small hand suddenly grasped Matthew's. "Don't leave , Silvanus. As long as you stay by my side, that monster won't be able to catch you."

This was the rule of this world, Matthew's world.

He knew he was soone who liked to live in the past. Especially after growing up, when Silvanus drifted farther and farther away from him, when he himself strayed further and further off track, becoming soone Silvanus would certainly despise.

He dread of the days when they were still at the orphanage, the days when he and Silvanus had only each other. Silvanus did not think about the vast world outside, and Silvanus was only friends with him. How wonderful that had been.

Silvanus continued looking at Matthew. He said, "You look like you have a lot on your mind."

Even though Silvanus did not even know what "a lot on your mind" really ant. It felt as though the idea had suddenly popped into his head, just like the way Matthew pulled food out of thin air.

Matthew looked at Silvanus and suddenly said, "I did sothing wrong… a mistake. My best friend will never forgive ."

Silvanus looked completely matter-of-fact. "You have to bear the consequences of your mistakes. If you knew you wouldn't be forgiven, then you shouldn't have done it in the first place."

Matthew: "... I was tempted. My mind was clouded. By the ti I realized… everything was already too late."

Silvanus pondered for a mont after hearing that, then ultimately said nothing more.

Matthew could not help looking at him expectantly.

Noticing his gaze, Silvanus said, "You should be asking your friend about this, not . I wouldn't know. I haven't gone through anything like that."

Matthew paused.

That's right. His Silvanus was here. Little Silvanus. Silvanus who would only have him. Why should he struggle over whether he would be forgiven or not? He had never done anything wrong to his Silvanus.

Suddenly being pulled into a tight embrace made Silvanus frown slightly. He looked at the ssy head beside him, frowned again, then let out a sigh like a world-weary old man.

At that mont, those strange lines appeared again, winding and twisting in front of him.

Just as Silvanus was about to touch them, Matthew's voice suddenly rang out, "Silvanus, this place is very dangerous. Those monsters are truly cunning. So if you see anything strange, anything that doesn't make sense, don't touch it carelessly. Tell imdiately, alright?"

Silvanus remained silent. He simply looked at Matthew.

Did Matthew really not find it strange that he could pull out a pile of rice cakes from thin air and start a fire with a casual wave of his hand?

It seed as though Matthew thought Silvanus would not notice anything unusual.

Clearly, the most abnormal thing here was Matthew.

He had appeared abnormally, acted abnormally, and said abnormal things.

Silvanus directly reached out and finally touched the winding boundary lines in front of him.
