"Dad, co and play kickball!"
The girl’s cheerful laughter, like silver bells, ca from the clearing nearby.
Around her were vibrant flowers and neatly managed green plants, along with clean bluestone paths.
The middle-aged, affluent man looked at his daughter with a smile, an indulgent glimr in his eyes.
Beside him, a lady with a beautiful appearance tightly held his arm, her belly clearly rounded, indicating pregnancy.
"Sir, staying in the Central Plains is indeed better.
Places like Huai City are constantly attacked by monsters; I can’t sleep soundly there, always afraid that another monster will break through the city one day."
"The lady is right," the affluent man nodded, "With Red Hero gone, if Huai City falls again, there will be no one to save it.
That’s why I decided to move."
After Red Hero’s sacrifice, the affluent man was extrely saddened and spent a huge cost to relocate his family to Kuang City.
Kuang City is one of the most important cities in Zhao Kingdom, only slightly weaker than the capital, and is renowned for producing various iron and copper mines.
The affluent man’s connections are broader than most, as he knows many cultivators.
He learned that Kuang City produces a rare mineral highly regarded by celestial sects, which is why he chose to move there.
’Boom!’
At this mont, a feeling of earth-shattering movent ca.
The middle-aged, affluent man almost lost his balance and hurriedly supported his delicate wife.
The porcelain on the table in the house fell one after another, clattering intensely, while a large amount of dust showered down from the rooftop.
"What the hell?!"
The affluent man abruptly looked up and saw several enormous dark shadows appearing in the sky above the city walls, blocking out the sun.
"How could monsters appear in the Central Plains!" he exclaid angrily, "Aren’t they supposed to attack border cities only?"
"Monsters are here!"
"Quick, hide!"
The citizens of Kuang City scread in panic, losing their wits one by one.
At this ti, on the city wall, the mbers of the Corpse-Driving Sect stationed there, although they had promptly activated the City Defense Array, still watched the sudden appearance of the monsters with fear on their faces.
A Bear Demon towering like a mountain, over a hundred yards tall, with black fur like long spears extended, its breath forming a visible whirlwind;
A giant serpent with two heads, each head larger than a house, with huge crimson eyes like eerie stars suspended in the sky;
A Vine Demon covered with sharp spikes, each thorn flashing with a tallic cold light, bearing dense small thorns...
These Great Demons, each exuding an aura no lesser than a mid-level Demon General.
But they were not the most prominent.
In front of them stood a creature with a wolf’s head and a human body.
Its body was covered in gray-black fur, with sharp spikes at the joints of its limbs, and thick keratin layers on the chest and neck.
Though it was not taller than a yard, its aura illuminated like a candle in the night.
"Top Demon General, still one of the strongest royal bloodlines of Cyan Wolf Ridge—the Iron-Backed Gray Wolf," a black-robed Foundation Establishnt Cultivator of the Corpse-Driving Sect, said bitterly, his eyes revealing despair.
The others exchanged looks, seeing the fear in each other’s eyes.
Such powerful bloodlines of the Demon Clan as the Iron-Backed Gray Wolf often require three or four of the sa level of the Human Race to counteract.
But now, where could they find several peak Foundation Establishnt Cultivators?
"Surrender, or die." The wolf man’s cold voice echoed.
Seeing no response from the city, red light surged from its body, quickly transforming into a true form, a massive black wolf over 150 yards tall.
Then it pounded heavily on the protective light shield with its paw.
’Bang!’
The city walls of Kuang City shook fiercely, the huge do-shaped white light shield above caving in, nearly touching everyone’s heads.
"It’s over, we can’t stop it at all, let’s seek aid from the sect!"
"Even if the sect sends aid, it can’t arrive in ti, check if there are any of our sect’s people near the nearby cities."
"The communication symbol is lit; Elder Wen is in the nearby Fu City!"
Before long, a beam of white light rapidly flew to the city walls of Kuang City.
"Elder Wen is here!"
As the white light dissipated, an amiable-looking, gray-haired elder revealed himself, holding a horsetail whisk, his aura strong.
Elder Wen looked at the light shield overhead, seeing it covered with cracks, and imdiately judged: "Soone must go out to hold off these monsters, otherwise the city will surely be breached, it can’t last long."
Saying this, Elder Wen flew out of the City Defense Array, shouted loudly: "Monsters, I am your opponent!"
He urged his entire Spiritual Essence, releasing massive magic spells to contend with the Wolf Demon, Bear Demon, and other strong monsters.
The scene was filled with flying sand and rolling air currents, creating great montum.
But it wasn’t long before Elder Wen retreated with a pale face.
The enemies were simply too strong; even though he was late Foundation Establishnt, he couldn’t withstand for long.
"Elder Wen, should we retreat first?" soone bravely suggested.
"Indeed, knowing the impossible yet doing it is not the act of a wise person," another agreed.
"Retreat?" Elder Wen sighed, "If we leave, what will happen to the citizens of this city?
Moreover, thirty percent of the sect’s rare minerals like Mystic Iron Essence and Secret Silver are produced in this city.
If Kuang City falls, the sect’s strength will inevitably be greatly affected."
"What should we do then? Hold out until the sect sends reinforcents?"
"It’s too late, we can’t last that long." Elder Wen shook his head and said.
There was sothing he found hard to say.
Currently, battles rage throughout the Zhao Kingdom, not without top-class Demon Generals, and the Corpse-Driving Sect simply doesn’t have enough experts to dispatch.
Hearing this, everyone looked at each other in dismay.
Leaving is not an option, nor is holding the ground. What can be done?
"It’s not impossible." Elder Wen said lightly, seeing the eyes of doubt and expectation cast upon him, "Just kill that Wolf Demon.
Once it’s dead, the monsters will lose their leader and quickly retreat."
"How to kill it? Unless our sect sends soone who has reached Perfect Dao Foundation..." A Foundation Establishnt Cultivator from the Corpse-Driving Sect said helplessly.
Everyone was puzzled, feeling that Elder Wen proposed an impossible thod, fearing he was confused due to old age.
"Naturally, I’ll kill it myself." Elder Wen said with a smile, gently stroking his long beard, his face shining with determination.
Everyone was stunned upon hearing Elder Wen’s words.
They watched as Elder Wen flew out of the city again, ascending to the sky.
Facing several Great Demons alone, his slender figure appeared extrely weak amidst the massive shadows.
"That old guy is here to die again?" sneered the Vine Demon.
"Watch devour him in one gulp, saving the trouble of having him as an eyesore before the lord." The Bear Demon grinned, a large amount of stinking yellow drool dripping from the sky.
"None of you need to act. I want to play with him." The Iron-Backed Cyan Wolf laughed coldly, its true form ’thumping’ towards Elder Wen, each step shaking the earth and sending dust flying.
At this mont, a black elixir suddenly appeared in Elder Wen’s hand.
He looked into the distance nostalgically and whispered, "Old woman, you won’t be lonely for much longer."
As Elder Wen swallowed the elixir, his whole body’s Spiritual Essence seed to boil over, enveloping him in a dense black light, with his aura climbing steadily.
In an instant, he broke through the late Foundation Establishnt stage, even nearing Perfect Dao Foundation.
"That is... Blast Spirit Pill!" A Foundation Establishnt Cultivator on the city wall recognized the elixir in Elder Wen’s hand and exclaid in shock.
"Once consud, the Blast Spirit Pill can temporarily boost one’s cultivation greatly, but afterwards, all ridians will sever, resulting in imdiate death!" Another person spoke up.
"This elixir is extrely rare, killing a thousand enemies at the cost of losing eight hundred of one’s own, even the sect doesn’t have many, I didn’t expect Elder Wen to have one..."
Under the worried gazes of everyone, Elder Wen roared in anger, like a thunderclap breaking in clear skies, clearly heard throughout Kuang City.
"Monsters, prepare to die!"
The horsetail whisk in his hand, its thousands of white strands seemingly maddened, surrounded by a faint black light as it desperately surged towards the giant wolf.
Each white strand was like a flying snake, ’shoo, shoo, shoo,’ slicing through the sky, emitting a sharp sound of air being torn apart.
"Not good!"
Seeing the power of the horsetail whisk, the Wolf Demon was shocked and tried to retreat to avoid its edge.
However, Elder Wen was determined to kill it.
Maneuvering the white strands through the air, one by one they pierced the thick keratin layer of the Wolf Demon’s body, continually digging deeper.
"Roar!"
The Wolf Demon let out a shocking scream, its muscles stiffened all over, making it difficult to move.
Taking advantage of this, Elder Wen wrapped the thousands of white strands around the Wolf Demon’s neck, layer upon layer, densely, and kept tightening.
This caused the Wolf Demon’s eyes to turn white, its tongue akin to a red waterfall hanging out.
"Stop!"
"Release the master!"
Seeing the Wolf Demon injured, the Bear Demon, Vine Demon, and two-headed Snake Demon were startled, rushing forward.
Either swinging their mountain-sized claws or spewing poisonous rain all around, attempting to force Elder Wen to stop the attack.
Elder Wen deftly dodged in mid-air, forming solid layers of gray shields in front, barely holding off most of the attacks.
But he was still grazed once by the Bear Demon’s huge claw, his body nearly split apart, with him forcibly knitting it back together with Spiritual Power and wrapping it in white strands to prevent it from shattering on the spot.
Even so, Elder Wen’s body had reached its limit.
Before the drug’s effect faded, he let out a furious roar, his entire Spiritual Power exploding again, reaching yet another level.
The thousands of white strands under his control tightened again, emitting stressed snapping sounds, finally twisting the Wolf Demon’s massive head clean off!
From the grievous wound on the Wolf Demon’s severed neck, a torrent of blood like a river poured forth, flooding the empty space before the city.
After the Wolf Demon’s death, Elder Wen’s aura suddenly plumted to the lowest point.
His body exploded, turning into a shower of blood and flesh falling down from the sky.
"Elder Wen!"
The many Corpse-Driving Sect cultivators on the wall were red-eyed.
Elder Wen not only died in battle but didn’t even leave behind a complete body.
The ordinary people in Kuang City gazed up at the sky, stunned, deeply moved by this Foundation Establishnt elder’s heroism.
