"What? You want to go to Itogami Island to monitor the Fourth Primogenitor!"

The news was so shocking that the girl's voice rose several pitches.

"I'm not telling you to go. It's your choice whether you want to take the mission."

The calm voice from the phone barely managed to steady Sayaka Kirasaka.

"My choice… um, Master, I don't think my strength is enough for a mission like monitoring the Fourth Primogenitor. Please find soone else."

Sayaka Kirasaka had long been ntally prepared for the fact that Yukina Hiragi would eventually carry out missions assigned by the Lion King Organization.

But if it were just a normal mission, why would her master be so vague about it? Sothing must have happened to her Yukina.

"What? Yukina went to monitor the Fourth Primogenitor!"

A sharp cry escaped Sayaka Kirasaka's mouth. The phone slipped from her hand and fell onto the bed as her eyes widened and her mouth hung slightly open.

The next second, she snapped out of her daze. She imdiately jumped off the bed, grabbed her weapon from the corner of the room, and rushed straight out of the ship.

At the sa ti, just as Sayaka Kirasaka was hurriedly buying a ticket to Itogami Island, Cid suddenly sat up from his bed.

"Huff… huff… huff…"

Cid sat there drenched in sweat, breathing heavily. His pajamas were completely soaked. Placing a hand on his chest, he could feel his heart beating wildly.

"What… what the hell just happened?"

He sat there for quite a while. Only after his heartbeat gradually returned to its normal rhythm did he finally mutter those words.

It looked as though he had woken up from a nightmare.

In reality, he had indeed been dreaming.

Just not a nightmare.

It was a wet dream.

Because so many things had happened today, and because after nearly ten years in the Library he had almost finished studying its core contents, he had decided to relax for once and get so sleep.

He had expected a deep sleep that would relax his mind and soul.

To put it simply, deep sleep was like diving into the ocean. The deepest part of the seabed represented his inner world.

In other words, when in a state of deep sleep, what he faced directly should have been his own inner self.

If he could still have a wet dream under those circumstances, did that an his mind was actually full of those kinds of thoughts?

No, that was impossible.

His goal was to beco an Eminence in Shadow. Things like lust would only beco obstacles on his path.

So there was only one possibility. Sothing had gone wrong with his body, causing him to wake up before he could reach the deepest part of the ocean.

Deep sleep did not guarantee that soone would always reach the deepest part of their inner self. It only ant that without interference, a person might unconsciously touch their own inner world.

And that interference could co from distracting thoughts, flaws in one's personality, or emotions and desires triggered by outside influences.

These disturbances were like sea monsters lurking in the depths of the ocean, suddenly appearing to attack while soone was diving.

Since a person remained unconscious during deep sleep, they normally could not tell whether what they encountered was the ocean floor itself, their true inner world, or one of those sea monsters, their distracting thoughts, flaws, and desires.

Except for him.

Cid could clearly distinguish whether he had reached the seabed or encountered a sea monster. After all, this was not the first ti he had dived into his inner world.

Before tonight's dive, the last ti he had entered his inner world should have been…

Cid casually glanced around the room. Out of the corner of his eye, he noticed an empty milk can lying in the trash can.

Right. It should have been after Eta brought him milk that he stopped entering deep sleep.

Of course, Eta would never harm him.

They were childhood friends and their relationship was extrely close.

There was no way Eta would poison him.
