Both teams stood on both sides of the arena, a space of almost twenty ters between them while the two referees stood on the sides.
The students of both academies had calm faces as they stared at each other. The difference in ranking between the two academies in the previous tournant wasn’t big so it could be said that there wasn’t any difference in their strength.
The stadium buzzed with noise as the spectators looked at the arena with faces filled with anticipation for the match.
The referees didn’t make them wait for long and gave the call for the match to begin.
The next mont, the eight students in the arena started to move.
The mbers of the Starfall Magic Academy summoned their pale blue stars and ford star patterns, all of which had the ice elent.
"Freezing waves!"
Two voices rang out at the sa ti. A powerful burst of cold air exploded from their star patterns the next second and frost began to appear in the air as the temperature dropped drastically.
The ground in front of them started to freeze up and turn into a thick layer of ice that spread forward, quickly covering a distance of 30 ters.
The students of the Black Rose Magic Academy had already reacted the mont that they saw the ground beginning to freeze, all four of them had retreated a couple of ters to avoid getting caught in the frozen space. Even from where they were standing, they could feel the biting cold of the frozen space; they would definitely have difficulty moving if caught in it.
The other two students of the Starfall Magic Academy weren’t staying idle. As ice mages, their resistance to cold was better than mages of other elents at the sa rank.
Seeing the students of the Black Rose academy move to safety, the remaining two students in white tracksuit uniforms charged into the frozen space. They disregarded the cold and frosts that fell on them as they charged toward the four in black uniforms, pale blue star patterns hovering above them.
Seeing this, the four in black uniforms continued to make distance.
"Freezing waves!"
The two students of the Starfall academy ca to a stop right at the edge of the 30-ter frozen space and released another burst of cold air in the direction of their opponents. The ground started to freeze again, and the frost spread even faster than last ti.
The students of the Black Rose Magic Academy found themselves surrounded by thick Ice and cold wind brushing against their skin, they had to leave this Ice domain before their bodies beca stiff!
But their opponents weren’t going to let them go just like that, right?
The other two boys who were the first to cast spells had already ford star patterns against and launched frozen fangs at the four from the Black Rose Magic Academy.
Seeing the incoming frozen fangs, the students of the Black Rose Academy gave up on the idea of retreating for the ti being. The cold had started to make their movents stiff and they won’t be able to move properly to dodge the frozen fangs.
They decided to cast spells of their own, stars appeared around them and quickly ford star patterns.
One of them cast a lightning spell while another summoned long vines.
"Vine call!"
"Lightning ball!"
A large green star pattern appeared on the ground, and two large vines shot out from it. They wriggled like snakes and lashed at the frozen fangs in the air.
A large lightning ball ford on the hand of another which he threw at a frozen fang.
Bam!
The lightning ball exploded after making contact with the frozen fang and both spells exploded into cracking white mist. As for the two vines, they slashed at the rest frozen fangs in the air, scattering them into cold mists.
But that wasn’t all, another student of the Black Rose Magic Academy ford a blinding white star pattern.
The summoning elent!
"Beast summoning!" The girl shouted, her eyes glowing with a white light.
Roar!
A loud roar sounded from the star pattern as a huge shadow jumped out from it the next mont and landed in front of the students from the Black Rose Magic Academy.
It was a large tiger beast of the common beast rank!
The tiger faced the students of the Starfall Magic Academy and roared again, revealing large sharp fangs that looked like they could cut through steel.
This was the power of the Adept rank spell of the summoning elent, it allowed the mage to summon a random common rank beast to fight for them.
The students of the Starfall Magic Academy were shocked to see the huge tiger, all four of them stood frozen as they looked at those sharp fangs.
"Go!" The girl who had summoned the tiger shouted while pointing at the group of students on the other side.
Receiving the order from its summoner, the tiger leapt forward and dashed toward the Starfall Magic Academy’s team. Its speed was impressive for a beast at the common beast rank.
"Attack it?"
The students in white tracksuits quickly ca back to their senses, one of them shouted and they all summoned their stars.
"Frozen fangs!"
All four of them fired frozen fangs at the tiger. The power of their spells increased slightly due to the presence of the frozen space that they were in, the frozen fangs had beco faster and bigger.
Roar!
The tiger roared loudly and swiped out with one of its large paws, slapping so of the frozen fangs and shattering them.
But so of the frozen fangs managed to land on its body.
Bang! Bang! Bang!
The sounds of the spells crashing into the tiger’s body were ear-piercing, but its skin was so tough that the spells only left small scratches on it. Even then, they managed to knock it to the side and the tiger crashed into the ground.
"Keep attacking it?"
Another student of the Starfall Magic Academy’s team shouted, they all summoned their spells again and showered more spells on the tiger that roared in response.
Taking advantage of their opponents getting distracted by the tiger, the students in black uniforms retreated out of the frozen domain. One of them was even shivering slightly after being in the frozen space for too long.
The crowd continued to cheer; this match was more exciting than the previous match, and the appearance of a magic beast made it more thrilling to watch.
At the topmost area of the spectators’ stand, Clint and the important mbers of the Union could be seen watching the match with interested faces.
The Archmage was also with them and he had a serious expression as he watched the match. Actually, he wasn’t really paying attention to the match as all of fights looked too ordinary.
He was actually searching for soone, the person in the other VVIP booth during the auction!
The Archmage had been scanning the entire stadium since he arrived but had yet to notice anyone with a noteworthy mage rank. This made him confused. Wasn’t the other party interested in the tournant as well?
He had approached the branch leader of this city’s Union branch after the auction to ask about the person in the other VVIP booth and he had learned that the person in that booth was called Mr Chen, a mysterious expert who had appeared in Balon City so ti ago.
Apparently, the people of Balon City had a lot of respect for Mr Chen because he had helped with a serious case that the Dark Union was behind, a lot of people wanted to see him.
This reputation had stunned the Archmage so much, he couldn’t understand why such an expert was doing charity in a small City like this.
At this mont, while the match was still going on in the arena, the Archmage turned to Clint and whispered.
"Branch leader, why isn’t Mr Chen here? Doesn’t he have any interest in the tournant?" He asked.
"I don’t know either. Mr Chen is a very busy person and rarely around; he only cos frequently to sell beast corpses, and we don’t have any way of contacting him. He might be busy with sothing else more important, which might be why he didn’t co to the tournant." Clint explained with a polite tone. After all, the other party was an Archmage.
"Hmm, I see." The Archmage nodded while mumbling, and he returned his gaze to the match.
He decided to wait for the chance for Mr Chen to appear so that he could properly thank the other party for allowing him to get the elental fruit, even though it had later cost him a high price.
While all of this was happening, Alex was watching the match with an amused face. The students of both academies literally had opposing uniform colours, one side was white while the other side was black.
It was like a fight between good and evil.
