"What’s that?" Alex’s voice rang out as he pointed at the top of the huge rock.
Everyone imdiately stopped and looked at where Alex was pointing with vigilant expressions.
The top of the fence-like rock was rigid and uneven; at a glance, it looked nothing out of the ordinary and seed just like a normal rock.
However, upon closer inspection, the others noticed a few oddly shaped parts of the rocks that were not connected properly and instead hung on the side.
"Earth golems. Everyone, prepare to fight!" Mia’s voice sounded at this mont after sensing the rocks.
The others imdiately reacted and stars of various colours appeared in the air.
"Alex, stand next to ." Mia beckoned, Alex obediently walked over and stood next to her.
As if noticing that they had been discovered, rumbling noises that sounded like rolling boulders rang out around them. The next mont, several rocks at the top of the huge boulder began to shift; quickly rising into golems that were two to three ters tall and were roughly shaped, two hollow holes that seed to be their eyes gazed at the group on the ground.
In total, five earth golems had appeared. Because of their ability to blend into their surroundings, even Mia did not notice them as quickly as Alex.
Bam!
The five earth golems jumped down from the top of the boulder and landed in front of the group, they were like giants with rock skins and hollow eyes.
Roar!!!
The five golems let out loud roars that shook the ground as if trying to intimidate the group of humans.
But these people were no rookies; all of them were experienced explorers who had been hunting magic beasts for years, and each of them could take out beasts at the common beast rank on their own; how could they be afraid of 5 golems at the weakest rank when there were many of them?
Alex glanced at Joan and the others, they all had calm expressions as they stared at the five golems.
’I bet the students from the academy would have panicked.’ Alex thought to himself. While he was a bit sad that he couldn’t kill these golems by himself and get exp points, there was nothing he could do about it since he wasn’t alone.
At this mont, one of the golems suddenly swung one of its large hands at the group.
Swoosh!
A big rock that was resting on the ground beside it flew from the ground and shot toward the group at fast speed. At the sa ti, the golems all dashed toward the group.
Their big rocky legs hit the ground and made loud noises.
In retaliation, Joan and the others flew into action.
Soone stepped forward with five brown stars above their head, the stars connected into a star pattern in a flash as the person slamd their palms into the ground.
"Earth control!"
The next mont, a rumbling noise rang out as the ground seven ters in front of him shook and an earth wall that was several ters thick rose up from the ground.
Bang!
The rock which the earth golem had thrown earlier crashed into the earth wall with great force and imdiately destroyed it; the rock had also crumbled as well after the collision, so the earth wall had done its job.
Right after the collision, colour star patterns painted the place in their radiance as voices rang out.
"Wind blade!"
"Fireball!"
"Bind!"
"Flare!"
"Light beam!"
...
Spells of various elents ford the next mont before shooting out and drowning the five earth golems that were approaching.
For a mont, sounds of explosions filled the air, accompanied by roars of golems as they were swallowed by a cloud of dust and smoke.
Alex watched with interest; he could tell that the spells had all landed accurately, but the earth golems had managed to survive.
After a while, the dust and smoke that were covering the golems cleared out and everyone could now see the state that the golems were in.
The current state of the golems could only be described by one word, miserable.
Cracks covered their bodies and so parts of their bodies had shattered.
One was even missing its two arms, and a deep crack ford a dividing line across its chest; another had a large hole around its left waist; the rocks in that area had been below off.
Despite their horrible state, the five golems were still standing, their hollow eyes fixed on the group of humans in front of them.
Whoosh!
The next mont, everyone could feel the mana in the surroundings fluctuating. They saw that rocks around the golems were starting to fly toward them and were fixing their broken bodies.
"Attack again, don’t let them recover!" Phil’s voice sounded and the other imdiately reacted by summoning their stars again and launching another wave of spells.
Boom! Boom! Boom!
Roar!!!
The earth trembled under the onslaught of spells. This ti, all of their spells were aid at the heads and chest of the golems.
Their already cracked bodies imdiately collapsed and without any ans to protect their most vital parts, all of the spells landed accurately.
So what if the head and chest were the hardest parts of an earth golem, it would still crumble under the onslaught of so many Adept rank spells!
In less than 10 seconds, the roars of the golems stopped; they were finally dead.
What was left were five mana cores and pieces of rocks that, although looked identical to the normal rocks in the area, were a bit different in shade and released mana; these rocks were the remains of the earth golems.
"Good job, everyone; store the remains and mana cores so we can get going." Mia’s voice sounded.
So people went toward the place where the golems had died and stored everything in their storage rings.
Alex looked with a puzzled face as the two mbers of the group stored the remains of the golems, he wondered if they could still be considered as a beast’s corpse after being destroyed to such a state.
When he asked, he was told that the bodies of magic beasts like the earth golems could retain and store mana for a long ti even after getting destroyed to such a state. They could be added to the creation of magic items and were particularly useful for creating defensive magic items.
Alex’s eyes flashed with understanding after listening, he felt that it made sense.
The group continued moving after they were done. For the following hours, Alex would point out the locations where earth golems were hiding just before the group would reach them.
This saved the group the ti of searching for the golems and also prevented them from getting encircled. Alex acted as a golem detector while Phil and the others did the killing, as for Mia, she was just a spectator who walked beside Alex.
They just finished killing a group of seven earth golems and so of the group mbers were currently going around to pick up the body parts of the golems which had been sent flying earlier.
This group of golems had been particularly rebellious and had given the group a tough ti because they started to run away after three of them were bombarded to death.
How could magic beasts run away from a fight? Tks tks tks, too disappointing.
While the others looked for the remains of the golems, Mia glanced at Alex beside her and fell into thought.
She was wondering how Alex was able to spot the golems every single ti before they could reach the beasts.
