Chapter 328: Chapter 328 Jing Jing’s Pretense

The kid had just gotten out of the car when Liu Jiagui ca over with a stern face. “Xiao Jun, you better hurry up and wash the car.”

Feng Jun looked at him and laughed without saying a word, continuing to sit steadily in the car.

Liu Jiagui’s face darkened. “Xiao Jun, what do you an, trying to make things difficult for , right?”

Feng Jun spoke with a smile, “I don’t an to make things difficult for you, but since you’re not paying for the gas, should I also pay for the car wash?”

“How precious,” Liu Jiagui glared and pointed at the other, “If you weren’t fetching the bride today, would you not wash the car? Hurry up and wash the car, don’t add trouble.”

“Don’t point your finger at ,” Feng Jun’s expression first darkened slightly, then he smiled again, “I’ll wash the car after I go back, no rush.”

Liu Jiagui’s eyes widened, “It’s just ten yuan, are you really gonna make this difficult for ? Think about who is getting married today!”

“Heh, yes, just a ten yuan matter,” Feng Jun continued to laugh. “Uncle Jiagui, even when people use animals, they don’t treat them like you do.”

At that mont, a young man from the bride’s side ca over, here to deliver the car fee.

Handing out cigarettes upon departure and distributing money upon arrival at the groom’s house, followed by a al afterwards—this was the standard procedure for treating the drivers.

Feng Jun glanced at the red envelope but didn’t rush to take it, chuckling as he asked Liu Jiagui, “Uncle Jiagui, can I take this red envelope?”

If he wasn’t allowed to take the red envelope, he would simply leave. It was just a little gas money, and he wouldn’t be the one losing face.

“Huh?” The young man distributing red envelopes turned his head in surprise, looking at Liu Jiagui, “What do you an by this?”

Liu Jiagui was so angry he wanted to hit soone. The person responsible for handing out red envelopes was surely soone close to President Chao’s family. Indeed, he recognized the young man as the bride’s father’s cousin’s son.

At this point, he couldn’t hesitate anymore and could only force a smile. “How can you not take the gift money?”

Feng Jun blinked, “Well then, I will really take it, you won’t regret it, right?”

Liu Jiagui couldn’t hold back any longer and exploded, whispering fiercely, “You co here in a dirty car, and you think you are right?”

“I just ca back from Zhengyang yesterday evening,” Feng Jun wasn’t angry but said with a smiling face, “It’s fine if you don’t give gas money, but you are not willing to shell out even ten yuan for a car wash… Isn’t that embarrassing?”

Liu Jiagui, without another word, took out ten yuan and threw it into the car, then turned and walked away.

He couldn’t stay any longer; he was the one who found the cars and, by custom, the main family would cover the cost of the gift money, cigarettes, and lunch. As for gas money, if he ntioned it to the main family, they would cover it too—although that would seem a bit stingy.

If he didn’t ntion it to the main family, then it was up to him to sort it out, whether the car owner paid or he did, as long as it didn’t cause trouble for the main family’s business.

Now, Feng Jun had blatantly called him out. As a helper, he was too stingy to pay even for gas, and even more so for a car wash, wasn’t that shaful?

So, Liu Jiagui really had no face to stay and turned to leave.

The young man responsible for distributing the red envelopes looked at Liu Jiagui, then back at the young man in the car, and after a mont of hesitation, handed over the red envelope, then said with a smile, “If you need to refuel, just tell .”

Feng Jun laughed, “It’s not much money, the thing is he thinks I should be the one paying… he even scolded for not washing the car.”

The young man smiled and asked noncommittally, “You ca back yesterday?”

“Yeah,” Feng Jun nodded, handing the other a cigarette, “As soon as I arrived, my childhood buddy dragged off to drink, we drank until midnight.”

“Oh,” the young man nodded and walked away.

Feng Jun started the car and went to find a place to refuel. The tank was still half full; his main goal was to use the gas station’s water hose to spray down the car.

Anyway, no matter what happened today, he wasn’t going to get the car too clean, and he believed that there would be people who would recognize the Phaeton.

What a joke, the sister of the city’s Executive Deputy Mayor was getting her daughter married, could there possibly be no discerning people?

In fact, people were already talking about him and his car.

The kid who had gotten down from the car quickly found his father, the bride’s distant uncle, a very distant relative, not a local but soone who had co from another province to attend the wedding.

The uncle was a farr who leased an orchard back ho; life was decent, and they didn’t rely on President Chao’s family for anything. They lived frugally day-to-day and could handle social obligations when necessary.

His son brought him a pack of cigarettes, which he didn’t bother to return. The niece was getting married—the guests were either relatives or friends—and fretting over such small matters was unnecessary.

Before, he smoked Red Tower Mountains that cost eight yuan a pack. Now, distributing cigarettes, he used the Zhonghua cigarettes gifted to him by the bride’s family.

He cared about his image, thinking that once he handed out these Zhonghua cigarettes, everyone would know they weren’t bought by him but were a generous gift from his nephew-in-law’s family. Seeing his son bring him a pack of cigarettes, he opened it to distribute them.

Both father and son didn’t know the value of these cigarettes, but others did. President Chao’s brother-in-law ca over, “Brother Liu, where did you get these cigarettes?”

Brother Liu answered with a smile, “What are you talking about, where else would cigarettes co from? Bought from a store, of course.”

“Don’t talk nonsense,” his brother-in-law laughed as he spoke, “You can’t buy these cigarettes, and you definitely wouldn’t be willing to. If you’re short on cigarettes, just take so from ho, why take other people’s?”

Brother Liu was straightforward, and he recounted the event, explaining how his son only wanted one cigarette, but the other person gave a whole pack.

“The wedding car driver’s?” his brother-in-law was imdiately baffled, “The wedding cars our family hired actually have a driver who smokes these…and gives them away?”

Brother Liu blinked, “Are they expensive?”

“They are,” his brother-in-law glanced at them, “Brother Liu, this one pack is worth more than a whole carton of yours.”

“Damn,” Brother Liu hurried to find his son, “We need to return it to him.”

“No need to return it, but we need to find out which car it was,” his brother-in-law mused, “It might be related to my sister-in-law’s family, and we don’t want to offend them.”

When they learned from the young child that it was the driver of the dirty-looking car who gave it, the brother-in-law and his sister-in-law’s younger sister looked at each other in shock, “Zhengyang’s Passat… Had so issues with Liu Jiagui?”

Yunyuan City isn’t within Funiu Province, so everyone isn’t too worried about Zhengyang, but if our side handed out regular Zhonghua, and the casually given away cigarettes from the other side were Grand Hyatt 1619, that’s… a bit inappropriate.

President Chao’s sister thought, maybe the driver used to drive for so leader in Zhengyang City and wasn’t short of cigarettes gifted by others, so even if he drove a Passat, it was still important to stay on good terms with him—a friend in hand is better than an enemy, after all.

Now, the system is strict, and it’s lucky it was Chao Ying’s daughter getting married; she’s outside of the system. If it were Chao Gang’s son’s wedding, forget nineteen cars, they wouldn’t even dare hire nine.

Feng Jun fueled up the car, gave it a spin, drove it back, and upon locking it up, strolled out for a al.

In truth, he was not really hungry, breakfast was optional for him, but there was nothing interesting to do there, and the only person he knew was soone he didn’t get along with, so he’d rather wander around the streets.

After wandering for more than an hour, and seeing that it was half-past nine, he returned to the community. Noticing the ceremony was almost finished, he opened the car door, took out his water bottle, and went to get hot water.

After getting the hot water, he was stunned to find three young people standing in front of his car, one man and two won. The man was rather short but had a handso face; the won, well, one could score a seventy-five, the other an eighty.

Upon seeing him approach and open the car door, the man ca over with a smile, “A Phaeton?”

Feng Jun glanced at him and nodded with a smile, “On this trip ho, you’re the first one to recognize this car.”

Such a statent sounded pretentious, but it actually acknowledged the other person’s good taste—showing so respect.

Therefore, the man wasn’t offended; instead, he asked with a smile, “May I give it a try later?”

Feng Jun looked at him and smiled, “Help yourself. Feel free to drive. I could use a nap anyway… woke up too early.”

“Generous,” the man gave a thumbs up and comnted. A two million car, handed to a stranger just like that, such generosity wouldn’t be easy for soone less open-minded, “I was presumptuous. I’ve driven rcedes and BMWs, but never a Phaeton… just want to get a feel for it.”

That was quite a bold remark, but Feng Jun wasn’t about to be outdone. He shook his head with a smile, “I’ve never bought a rcedes or BMW. Too flashy for my taste.”

The man gave him a surprising look, “Is this really your car?”

Feng Jun took out a cigarette, lit it, tossed one to the man, and spoke with a smile, “Why couldn’t it be mine?”

“It’s a bit unexpected,” the man forced a laugh, not wanting to admit that he underestimated Feng Jun, thinking he was just a driver, so he found an excuse, “Many of my friends say, a car and a wife, you should never lend them out.”

“That’s just financial insecurity,” Feng Jun responded without hesitation, “At worst, I could just give the car away. If money can solve the problem, then it’s not a problem… but definitely can’t give away a wife.”

The man was slightly unconvinced, “But you can’t just give away a rcedes or BMW… you said you’ve never bought one.”

If you’ve ever given away a van as a gift, would you say it with pride?

Feng Jun glanced at him, and said indifferently, “This is my second Phaeton… do you need the number of the 4S shop?”

The man finally shut up.

The group chatted there while others didn’t join in—though it looked like soone intended to, like Liu Jiagui.

But after a sweep from the man, everyone behaved and minded their own business.

Soon, it was half-past ten, and the motorcade started assembling, driving towards Chaoyang.

The man took his seat behind the wheel, and the eighty-score girl sat in the passenger seat. As soon as he opened the door, the man exclaid, “This trim level… Can’t others tell it’s a nice car?”

They really couldn’t tell. That kid’s dad couldn’t even recognize good cigarettes, so how would the kid know this was a luxury car?

Feng Jun sat in the back seat, beside the seventy-five-score girl. Hearing the man’s exclamation, he yawned and said, “This counts as a nice car? Heh.”

The man looked at him through the rearview mirror, his eyes containing a mournful plea, “Brother, then what, in your eyes, is a nice car?”

Feng Jun forced a laugh, yawned again, and said insincerely, “You’re right, this is a nice car, I’m sleepy… gonna take a nap.”
