77 Interrogation
Lin Hengxi studied Yan Kuan’s expression carefully.
He was sure that he wasn’t lying.
“Do you still remember what that old lady looked like?”
“It was too dark, and she used a black headscarf to cover her entire face. I didn’t even get a good look.” It was so dark that he was almost scared to death.
He wanted to follow her but was warned by the old lady.
So, he didn’t follow her.
Lin Hengxi sneered, “Tsk, since you didn’t even see her face, how can you say that she’s an old lady?”
Yan Kuan immediately said, “Her hand… It was full of wrinkles and I could tell at a glance that she was old. I really don’t know who that person is. By the way, that old lady gave off a rather terrifying and eerie feeling.”
Lin Hengxi glanced at him and said, “Give me the one million.”
Yan Kuan was stunned.
“What, you don’t want to?” He narrowed his eyes dangerously.
“I’m willing, but I’m begging you, please let my son go! He’s still young…”
Lin Hengxi’s lips curled into a mocking smile. “Everyone has to be responsible for their own mistakes. He’s at the police station now.”
Yan Kuan’s face turned pale. He quickly took out the bag of money from under the bed when he saw the young man’s impatient expression. “This is it. I only counted it. I haven’t used it yet.”
He still had some money on hand, so he didn’t use this money. He had planned to pay the down payment for his son after his son got into college.
Lin Hengxi gestured for the person he had brought to take the money. Before he left, he said, “Throw these two severed fingers into the trash can.”
This was a warning to Yan Kuan.
Yan Kuan’s face turned pale when he heard that. He watched helplessly as the man picked up the broken finger.
His plan to go to the hospital to connect his fingers was also ruined.
Lin Hengxi returned and told Fu Ge about the information he had gotten from Yan Kuan.
Fu Ge’s face was dark. He asked, “An old lady in her sixties?”
“Yes, that’s what Yan Kuan said. I asked someone to check the surveillance cameras in that area, and we only found a black shadow in one of the cameras that looked like what Yan Kuan said. As for the others… there isn’t any.”
This old lady appeared and disappeared like a ghost. She even knew how to avoid surveillance cameras. This was a little plicated.
Fu Ge looked at Murong Jiu and said, “Go to the Qin family and see how many old ladies over the age of sixty are there.”
Murong Jiu immediately nodded, “Okay.”
He got out of the car and was about to leave when he met Ji Luo.
“Murong Jiu, where are you going?” Ji Luo asked.
“I have something to do,” Murong Jiu said and left.
Ji Luo had wanted to investigate with Lin Hengxi earlier, but he had gotten off the car halfway through and had only returned after settling some matters.
When he got into the car, he saw that Lin Hengxi was there as well. “You’re back so soon? How’s the investigation?”
Lin Hengxi did not speak and only looked at Fu Ge.
Of course, Fu Ge would not answer Ji Luo’s question. He raised his wrist to look at the time. “My Xixi is about to finish her exams. You guys can go first.”
Originally, Ji Luo and the others wanted to have lunch with Qin Jianxi. However, after what happened, they gave up on the idea.
Lin Hengxi quickly said, “Alright. I’ll help you investigate the old lady again. I’ll let you know when I have news.”
Fu Ge nodded, then pushed the door open and got out.
Not long after he stood at the school gate, he saw Qin Jianxi walk out first.
He quickly went up to wele her. He said, “You must be hungry! I’ll take you to lunch.”
Qin Jianxi nodded her head, “Okay.”
When the two returned to Fu Ge’s car, Ji Luo and Lin Hengxi had already left.
