Yan Xinxin heard the voice and looked up, seeing Ning Zitong standing just behind little Chenxi.
She slowly stood up and offered a polite, faint smile.
A mont ago, as she bent down, the hem of her shirt rode up slightly, revealing the small red heart birthmark on the left side of her waist at the back.
Little Chenxi must have caught sight of that tiny birthmark.
"Auntie, Xixi wants to play with Sister Xinxin!"
Little Chenxi turned and walked to Ning Zitong’s side, making her request.
"Auntie, please say yes, okay?"
The little girl lifted her innocent, big eyes filled with earnest pleading that could soften anyone’s heart.
Seeing Yan Xinxin, Ning Zitong was already feeling displeased.
Now that little Chenxi still showed such fondness for Yan Xinxin, her expression beca even sourer.
"Lady Yan, it seems fate keeps bringing us together."
Ning Zitong spoke with deliberate aning, her gaze darkening when she noticed the ultrasound paper in Yan Xinxin’s hand.
"Having more children doesn’t guarantee you’ll beco a wealthy family’s young mistress."
"You’re absolutely right, which is why I’ve never entertained such thoughts."
Yan Xinxin responded with a calm smile.
"Mrs. Mu, Chenxi really wants to play with . Would you allow her to co back with ? You don’t have to trust , but I believe you do trust Mo Chuxi, don’t you?"
"Auntie, please let play with Sister Xinxin! I promise I’ll behave from now on."
Little Chenxi pleaded, tugging at the hem of Ning Zitong’s expensive outfit.
"Fine."
Ning Zitong reluctantly agreed, giving Yan Xinxin a frosty glare.
"Then I’ll leave Xixi to you. If you don’t care for her properly, I won’t let you off easy like last ti."
Yan Xinxin nodded.
"I’ll take good care of Chenxi."
Ning Zitong cast Yan Xinxin another glance before leaning down to touch little Chenxi’s head.
"Xixi, be good. Later, I’ll have your Sister Qianshui co pick you up and take you ho."
"Okay! Thank you, Auntie!"
Little Chenxi nodded obediently and then turned to hold Yan Xinxin’s hand.
"Sister Xinxin, let’s go!"
"Okay."
As she glanced down at the small child walking beside her, Yan Xinxin couldn’t help smiling warmly, her brow and eyes softening.
She had only t little Chenxi a few tis, yet Yan Xinxin couldn’t explain why every ti she saw her, she felt profoundly moved.
Just as they exited the Won and Children Hospital, Mo Chuxi called her. Without hesitation, Yan Xinxin answered the phone while raising her gaze to observe the road ahead.
Before coming to the hospital, she had already received a call from Mo Chuxi, letting him know she’d be here.
"Finished the checkup already?"
The man’s rich, magnetic voice ca through the other end.
"Yes, I’m outside now. Where did you take Xi? I want to introduce you to soone in a mont."
"Hmm? Who do you want to et?"
Curiosity flickered in Mo Chuxi’s tone as he parked his car across the street from the hospital.
"Since you’re already out, I’ll just wait for you across the road. Be careful."
"Okay, see you soon."
Yan Xinxin hung up, her radiant smile blooming under the sunlight.
"Chenxi, your daddy is across the street with Xi waiting for us. Let’s go find them together!"
"Wow! Really? That’s great!"
The little girl bead with joy, and Yan Xinxin’s smile mirrored hers.
Her hand held tightly to the tiny hand as the green light turned on, and they crossed the street together. Yan Xinxin quickly spotted the familiar car and Mo Chuxi’s handso face as he lowered the car window.
"It’s Daddy! Look, Daddy!"
Little Chenxi’s sharp eyes imdiately caught sight of Mo Chuxi in the car.
"Daddy!"
She called out excitedly, suddenly letting go of Yan Xinxin’s hand and sprinting forward on her short little legs.
"Chenxi, don’t run. Stay with Sister Xinxin..."
"Beep-beep—"
Before Yan Xinxin could finish her sentence, the sound of a car approaching from the side shattered the mont.
"Chenxi!"
