"There’s no need to be so surprised."
Young Master Mo spoke casually.
"Go sit over there for a bit, it’ll be ready soon."
He continued his work as he spoke.
Yan Xinxin looked on in bafflent, but before long, Young Master Mo had already finished laying out the picnic cloth. On it were delicately-made, appetizing pastries, along with a bouquet of pale purple hydrangeas.
Hydrangeas, the lakeside, the green grassy field...
Yan Xinxin stared in a daze, as if sothing deep in her mory was surfacing.
"Brother Xi..."
She softly called out, snapping herself back to reality in confusion.
Why did I call him Brother Xi?
Wasn’t I referring to Mo Chuxi?
"What are you spacing out for? Co over and eat lunch."
Young Master Mo’s voice brought her back to her senses.
Yan Xinxin lifted her eyes to look. Beneath the shade of the trees, the man in the white shirt sat on the picnic cloth, dignified yet graceful, facing the gentle sumr breeze. The dappled sunlight danced across his fair and handso face, giving him an almost dreamlike allure.
She took a step forward but froze in her tracks, as if a different scene had appeared before her eyes.
A little girl, and a little boy...
"Yan Xinxin."
"Huh?"
Yan Xinxin abruptly snapped back to reality and was startled to see Young Master Mo standing right in front of her.
"What are you thinking about? Are you feeling uncomfortable? Nauseous?"
His gaze carried a hint of concern as he looked at her.
Yan Xinxin stared at the man in front of her with slightly dazed eyes.
"Mo Chuxi, have... we t before?"
"Gulp."
Mo Chuxi froze with a start.
"Why do you ask?"
"I just feel... I think I’ve seen you sowhere before."
"Perhaps you saw in so magazine."
He gave a perfectly reasonable explanation, then took Yan Xinxin’s hand.
"If you don’t want to be late for class, co eat."
That’s true.
Yan Xinxin nodded and stopped pondering further.
Mo Chuxi lowered his gaze, lost in thought.
Sooner or later, she’ll realize that he was the scoundrel she had nightmares about for years...
Basking in the warm sumr breeze, Yan Xinxin ate the sumptuous lunch while sipping freshly squeezed juice.
She had never expected Mo Chuxi to suddenly do sothing so romantic, taking her to such a beautiful spot for lunch.
"Young Master Mo, why are you being so nice to all of a sudden?"
Yan Xinxin leisurely nibbled on the dessert, her curious gaze landing on the silent man who had been quiet for a while.
"Don’t tell it’s because I’m your wife or sothing. Sure, we’re legally married, but I’m well aware that there’s no love between us..."
"Well then, how about you answer first—why did you tell Xu Nuo earlier that we were already married?"
Mo Chuxi lifted his gaze and countered.
"You clearly said you didn’t want to make it public. If you didn’t want anyone to know, then why did you tell Xu Nuo?"
"I..."
Yan Xinxin was briefly tongue-tied, caught off guard by Mo Chuxi’s question!
As she struggled to co up with a response, Mo Chuxi’s handso face lood closer.
His scent, his breath—they all overwheld her senses with staggering intensity.
Yan Xinxin’s cheeks quickly grew warm. She felt Mo Chuxi’s arm wrap around her waist, and his lips pressed close to her ear.
"Yan Xinxin, are you sure you really have no feelings for ?"
"..."
"If you didn’t care about , then why rush to explain to Xu Nuo that I was serious about you?"
"..."
Serious?
Yan Xinxin’s pulse quickened as his presence enveloped her ever more fervently.
"Yan Xinxin, you’ll belong to for the rest of your life."
His lingering kiss followed those words...
Mo Chuxi dropped Yan Xinxin off at the training center ahead of ti. As Yan Xinxin stepped through the entrance, she turned back to find Mo Chuxi still standing there, watching her.
"Mo Chuxi, I want to ask you sothing."
"Hmm?"
"Has anyone ever called you Brother Xi?"
