As soon as the words fell, Niki imdiately felt a strange tension in the air.
Mo Chuxi did not rush to explain but instead lowered his deep gaze to look at the silent little Chenxi. His palm, which was holding her small hand, tightened slightly.
"Then, President Mo, I-I'll be going now!"
Sensing the unease, Niki grabbed her bag and hurried off, feeling anxious.
Did I say sothing wrong...?
Little Chenxi blinked her big, beautiful eyes. Her cherub-like, baby-chubby face suddenly lifted as she looked seriously at Mo Chuxi. Her two small eyebrows furrowed slightly in confusion, and it took her a while before her adorable cherry-like lips moved.
"Papa..."
"..."
Mo Chuxi froze, his long, narrow eyes locking on her innocent gaze.
"Little one, call Brother. I'm not your dad."
"Want Papa."
"..."
Little Chenxi blinked her eyes at Mo Chuxi, her gaze pure, harmless, and full of longing. It made Mo Chuxi feel sothing indescribable deep inside.
Without saying another word, he glanced at the ti, then directly picked up little Chenxi and carried her to his office.
Mo Chuxi had never carried a small child before, but his technique was surprisingly steady.
He caught a light whiff of milk fragrance and felt a strangely soft tactile sensation. The little one was snuggled up close, her dense, long, curled eyelashes fluttering gently like feathers.
Suddenly, Mo Chuxi thought Yan Xinxin must have so skill to have given birth to two such outstanding little cherubs.
But then again, it seed that the man's genes weren't bad either?
At this thought, a wave of displeasure rose in Mo Chuxi's heart.
What kind of man had Yan Xinxin loved back then, to be deceived into bed and give birth to a pair of twins?
——
It was ti for his eting, so Mo Chuxi carried little Chenxi to the sofa in his office. He picked up a crystal ball and placed it into her soft, tiny hands.
"Knock, knock, knock."
"Mr. Mo."
Assistant Ah Ding knocked on the door and entered. Just as he was about to speak, he lifted his head and saw little Chenxi sitting innocently on the sofa.
His curious gaze coincidentally t little Chenxi's simple and innocent eyes.
"Mr. Mo, this..."
"Don't ddle. It's ti for the eting."
In his usual cold manner, Mo Chuxi spoke as he walked out of the office but glanced back at little Chenxi before leaving.
"Don't wander around. Wait for to co back."
He instructed, though his tone sounded more like a command.
Little Chenxi neither nodded nor responded. She turned her little head away and stared directly out of the floor-to-ceiling window.
"..."
Mo Chuxi's brows furrowed slightly.
This little one—just because he had said sothing to her last night, she was still sulking and giving him the cold shoulder.
Such a stubborn personality—he wasn't sure whom she resembled.
——
Knowing Mo Chuxi had a morning eting today, Yan Zhirou calculated the end ti of the eting in advance. She deliberately dressed up, donning luxurious curls, and swayed her way to the 18th floor in hopes of creating an accidental encounter with Mo Chuxi.
Glancing at the reception desk, she found it empty—perfect.
Yan Zhirou thought for a mont and smirked with delight, her red lips curling upward.
"Ding-dong."
A crisp collision sound suddenly ca from beside her feet. Yan Zhirou looked down and saw a crystal ball, neither too big nor too small, rolling to her side.
Her brows furrowed in displeasure. When she looked up, she saw a five-year-old child running after the ball from afar. As her gaze caught little Chenxi's jewel-like eyes, Yan Zhirou instantly recalled Yan Xinxin's face. Her expression turned cold with disgust, and she cruelly kicked the crystal ball under her foot.
"Roll, roll..."
The crystal ball rolled forward until it stopped at soone's feet.
Yan Zhirou looked up and saw Mo Chuxi's unparalleled, handso face. Her heart instantly raced with excitent!
Little Chenxi also saw Mo Chuxi. Her big eyes lifted as her brows knitted with a touch of hesitation. After freezing for a mont, her small lips moved softly, "Papa..."
