"Beep beep! Beeeep—"
As Xiao Yize’s tense warning rang out, the sharp sound of a car horn followed suit.
Seeing the large truck speeding towards her from the side, Mo Qingning froze in place, stunned.
In the fleeting mont of her panicked daze, a slightly cool hand suddenly grabbed her wrist forcefully!
Before Mo Qingning could even process what was happening, a crisp lemon fragrance filled her nose the instant she was pulled away.
The flow of cars rushed past them on either side.
He held Mo Qingning close and let out a relieved sigh.
Mo Qingning remained frozen, for a long ti, as if she were just regaining her heartbeat.
"You’re safe now,"
Xiao Yize’s gentle voice sounded near her ear.
Gradually, the faint lemon scent she had slled began to dissipate.
He released her from his embrace, and seeing the girl still lost in the lingering fright, he gave a faint smile.
"Be more careful next ti,"
he advised with a hint of admonishnt.
Mo Qingning stared blankly at him and nodded slightly.
"Two more minutes."
Xiao Yize’s thin lips moved lightly, but he didn’t let go of the hand he had grabbed earlier.
As the green light reappeared, he reversed his grip on her hand.
"Don’t be late,"
he reminded her softly, then stepped forward.
Mo Qingning followed Xiao Yize’s steps as they crossed the street.
She walked behind him, looking down at their joined hands.
Even though it was no more than ten seconds crossing the crosswalk, Mo Qingning’s heart was already in turmoil.
Those fleeting monts always seem to linger most vividly in mory.
Back on the 18th floor in the fashion departnt.
Mo Qingning cradled her cup of ice cream, still feeling as though the back of her left hand was warm, and the faint trace of lemon scent remained in her nose.
The three girls from the ABC group all gave her unfriendly looks as soon as she entered the departnt.
"Qingning, you’re late,"
the girl from group A pointed out.
"Not only late, but still dazed, too."
"Not just dazed, also eating ice cream there."
Hearing the ABC girls’ remarks, Mo Qingning abruptly snapped out of her thoughts and gave them an apologetic smile.
"Thank you for the reminder,"
she replied, taking their words as well-aning advice, then returned to her desk.
The ABC girls exchanged a glance, looking a bit annoyed.

Yan Xinxin got into Mo Chuxi’s car, which started up quickly.
"Mo Chuxi, what are you doing? Qingqing hasn’t arrived yet."

Yan Xinxin silently complained in her mind and leaned back into the comfortable car seat, her hand lightly resting on her lower abdon.
Even though she hoped it was true, she also felt it was happening too quickly.
Of course, she wished even more that it were true.
After all, the doctor had firmly concluded that her chances of pregnancy were slim to none.

As those thoughts spun in her head, she suddenly felt her hand being held. She looked up and saw Mo Chuxi’s concerned expression.
"Does your stomach hurt? Why are you clutching it and furrowing your brows?"
