A man with a cigarette dangling from his mouth and an air of provocation stepped out from the group of hooligans. He seed to be their leader.
Xu Nuo glanced at them, his expression remaining indifferent and calm.
Selena’s eyes, as dazzling as starlight, blinked as she looked at Xu Nuo.
"Who are they? Do you know them?"
"Smack!"
The sharp sound of a slap rang out unexpectedly.
"..."
"..."
The gang leader and his lackeys widened their eyes in stunned disbelief.
Xu Nuo was surprised too.
Yet Selena remained composed, shaking her small hand nonchalantly.
"The way he talks is so annoying."
She remarked.
The gang leader touched his aching cheek.
Sensing the gang leader’s growing fury, Xu Nuo suddenly let go of Selena’s hand.
"Leave, now."
"Huh?"
"Get out of here, imdiately!"
"Why should I leave?"
Selena looked at Xu Nuo’s stern face with utter confusion.
"Aren’t you supposed to take responsibility for ? If you’re taking responsibility, then listen to . Leave now—go as far as you can!"
Xu Nuo urged.
Selena stared at him, her usually pure eyes now showing a trace of desolation she’d never displayed before.
"Why?"
"No reason. Just leave. I don’t want to see you here right now! Go!"
Xu Nuo raised his hand and gently nudged Selena forward.
Selena gazed at his serious face, wanting to say sothing but holding back.
She hesitated for a few seconds before finally turning away.
As the shadow of Selena turning away caught the corner of Xu Nuo’s eye, he couldn’t help but furrow his brow.
How could it be?
How could her turning away leave him feeling this inexplicable emptiness?
"Well, well! Isn’t Xu the heartthrob acting all sentintal? Afraid your precious girlfriend will get hurt? Too late for that now!"
The gang leader sneered viciously.
"Go after that chick for !"
"Yes, boss!"
"I know who sent you after . Your target is . Don’t you dare touch her!"
Xu Nuo declared, stepping in front of the gang leader to shield Selena.
"Pah!"
The gang leader spat out the cigarette butt in his mouth.
Before his words had fully left his mouth, he swung his fist with full force straight down!
"Ahhh!"
The gang leader instantly collapsed to the ground, clutching his face, blood gushing from his lips.
He spat out so blood, along with a dislodged tooth.
"Damn it! Beat him up! Beat this pretty boy until he’s broken! I want him to leave this place not as a heartthrob but as a piece of trash!"
"Yes, boss!"
The group of thugs complied, wielding their weapons as they surrounded Xu Nuo.
Though Xu Nuo knew a little martial arts, he was outnumbered. One man couldn’t fend off multiple attackers, especially when they wielded long knives and iron rods. Soon, his body began to bear uneven, deep and shallow wounds.
Seeing Xu Nuo struggling and slightly disoriented, the gang leader gripped his iron rod tightly, stepped into the fray, and raised the rod high above his head. Without hesitation, he swung it down violently toward Xu Nuo’s head...
"Die, you pretty boy!"
