Aurora didn’t know about Caroline’s plan and returned ho.
When she saw Adriana sitting in the living room, busy chatting with a smile on her face, Aurora plopped beside her and said,
"Sister, what are you doing?"
Adriana was shocked and instantly hid her phone,
"Hey! Don’t scare like that!"
Aurora ignored the unnatural expression on Adriana’s face and said,
"Is it my brother-in-law?"
Adriana blushed and replied in a panicked voice,
"No! No! Don’t talk nonsense!"
Aurora leaned closer with a teasing smile.
"Co on, sis! Why are you blushing then?"
Adriana turned red like a tomato. "I-I’m not! You’re imagining things!"
Aurora laughed and poked her side. "So it is brother-in-law! What’s his na? Huh? Tell !"
Adriana covered her face with both hands. "You’re so annoying!" she said, giggling a little.
Aurora leaned back on the couch and rested her head on Adriana’s shoulder. "Fine, keep your secrets," she said playfully.
Then, as if she had rembered sothing important, Aurora said in an excited tone,
"Sister, do you know Godmother Emily took to a newly opened high-end restaurant nad Bliss Resto. The food there was amazing."
Adriana chuckled and patted her head,
"Really? Next ti, I will take you there."
Aurora pretended to be cheerful and said,
"Yes!"
The next second however a mysteriosu expression appeared on her face and Aurora said,
"Sister, do you know Godmother and I were dining there when I suddenly heard a woman talking on her phone.
I didn’t an to eavesdrop, but since the voice of the woman was audible, I heard so gossip. Apparently, the woman had a boyfriend nad Henry.
He had taken a debt and tricked the woman into saying that she was willing to pay off his debt.
Not only that, the woman told about how he borrowed money from the woman in the na of getting money for his mother’s hospitalization... that too at their first date!
Now the woman is going to file a complaint against Henry, and the hearing will happen on 12th August at the Court."
Adriana’s face changed, and she asked,
"What did you say? What was the na of the man?"
Aurora blinked and said clearly, "His na was Henry. That’s what the woman said."
Adriana’s eyes widened. Her lips parted slightly like she wanted to say sothing, but no sound ca out.
"Are you sure?" she asked, her voice a little shaky.
Aurora nodded slowly. "Yes, I heard it clearly. The woman was really angry."
Adriana sat up straighter. Her heart started beating faster. She tried to act calm.
"What else did she say?"
Aurora thought for a mont.
"Umm... she said that he kept asking for money. First for his mom’s hospital bills, then for rent, and then for so business deal.
She said he made her feel guilty every ti. And when she finally said no, he got mad."
Adriana clenched her fists in her lap. Her face was slowly losing color.
"What... did he look like?" she asked, trying not to sound too desperate.
Aurora looked puzzled and shook her head.
"I didn’t see him. The woman was just talking on the phone. I only know her na was Adeline. She ntioned it while talking."
Adriana froze.
Adeline? That was the na Henry once accidentally said during their conversation. She thought she was just imagining things. But now...
Her hands trembled slightly.
Aurora watched her curiously. "Sister? Are you okay?"
Adriana quickly smiled, although her face was still pale.
"Of course! Why wouldn’t I be?" she said, ruffling Aurora’s hair gently. "You and your wild stories, seriously!"
Aurora narrowed her eyes. "You’re acting weird..."
Adriana stood up suddenly. "I just rembered—I have sothing to do. I’ll be back later, okay?"
Aurora stood too. "Where are you going?"
Adriana just smiled. "I’ll be quick. Don’t worry!"
Before Aurora could ask again, Adriana rushed out of the house.
She pulled out her phone and quickly called Henry.
The phone rang twice before he picked up. His voice sounded cheerful.
"Hey babe! I was just about to call you. I have sothing important to tell you. Can we et?"
Adriana took a deep breath. Her voice was calm, but her heart wasn’t.
"Yes. We need to talk."
Henry chuckled. "Perfect timing! I’ll et you at our usual spot in 30 minutes, okay?"
Adriana forced a smile through the phone. "Okay. See you then."
As she ended the call, her fingers tightened around the phone.
’If what Aurora heard is true, then I have to get away from him!’ she thought.
Henry was already waiting at their usual spot—a quiet bench near the park fountain. He waved when he saw Adriana walking toward him.
"Hey, babe!" he said with a big smile, arms open wide, ready for a hug.
But Adriana didn’t step into his arms. Instead, she took a step back.
Henry’s smile froze, and his arms slowly dropped.
He looked stunned, blinking like he didn’t understand.
But inside his heart, he scoffed,
’Tsk. Rich people are all like this. Acting like they’re too good for everything.’
Adriana kept her face calm and said quietly, "Let’s sit down."
Henry followed her and sat beside her on the bench. He glanced at her face, trying to read her mood.
"So..." he said with a smile, "What did you want to talk about?"
Adriana looked straight into his eyes. "No. You said you had sothing to say."
Henry chuckled and leaned back casually. "Co on, you first. You’re my girlfriend. I should listen to you."
Adriana bit her bottom lip nervously. Her hands clenched in her lap.
"I heard sothing," she began slowly. "Sothing about you."
Henry raised his eyebrows, pretending to look curious.
Adriana took a deep breath.
"There was a woman. She was talking on the phone, and I happened to hear everything. She said she had a boyfriend nad Henry... who tricked her into paying off his debts.
Who lied about his mother being sick just to get money from her? And who kept asking for more and more until she finally said no. Now she’s filing a complaint. The court hearing is on the 12th of August."
