Aurora’s fingers gripped the edge of the table.

A small sound escaped her lips—a sound she hadn’t ant to make.

"Spencer—stop," she said, trying again, this ti with a sharper tone.

He finally pulled back, smiling mischievously when he caught sight of her flushed face and slightly swollen lips.

"Sorry," he said, not sounding sorry at all. "You just look really... kissable when you’re mad."

She slapped his hand lightly. "You’re too much. What if soone walked in?"

"They won’t." He leaned against the table beside her, looking smug. "I have locked the door."

Aurora rolled her eyes, but then frowned as she touched her lips. "Seriously, though. This is too much. You’re moving fast."

"I’m fulfilling my duty," Spencer said with exaggerated innocence.

"Canary duties, rember? Emotional support. Occasional smooches. Making my benefactor feel appreciated."

Aurora narrowed her eyes. "You’re twisting things."

"Nope," he said cheerfully. "Just honoring the contract. You pay, I perform. Win-win."

Aurora folded her arms, cheeks still burning.

"We should limit it. The kissing. Like, set a number."

Spencer gasped dramatically. "What? That’s... cruel."

She raised a brow. "Cruel?"

"Yes! That would make our relationship... unnatural. Emotionally repressed. Like an arranged marriage in a sad historical drama."

"You’re ridiculous."

Spencer grinned and leaned in just close enough for her to feel the warmth of his breath again. "Besides, if you’re paying for everything, don’t you think you deserve unlimited access to my... services?"

Aurora blinked. "Are you seriously trying to pitch unlimited kisses as a feature?"

"Exactly! No subscription cap. Total custor satisfaction." He winked. "You’re the VIP."

Aurora groaned and buried her face in her hands. "I can’t believe I’m having this conversation."

Spencer chuckled, then gently nudged her arm so she’d look at him. "Fine. If you insist, we can pace it. But no cold-turkey rules. That’s just tragic."

Aurora sighed. "I just don’t want to get overwheld. It’s... new."

She didn’t finish the sentence, but Spencer didn’t need her to. His teasing smile softened. He understood exactly what she ant.

"I get it," he said quietly. "It’s new for , too. But I’ll go as slow as you want. I’m not in a rush."

She gave him a side glance. "That’s rich, coming from the guy who just tried to fuse with my neck."

He laughed, rubbing the back of his neck. "Okay, fair. Maybe a tiny bit of a rush."

Aurora’s lips twitched, trying not to smile. She shook her head. "You’re impossible."

"And yet, you’re still here," Spencer said, gently bumping his shoulder against hers.

Aurora looked away, cheeks still pink. "Only because I have nowhere better to be."

"Lies," he said, watching her closely. "You could’ve kicked and walked out. But you didn’t."

She opened her mouth to protest but paused. "...Don’t read too much into it."

Spencer leaned back, hands in his pockets, smiling like he’d just figured out a riddle.

He didn’t say anything about it, but the truth was obvious to him now: Aurora liked him.

Maybe she hadn’t realized it yet—or maybe she was trying hard not to—but the way she let him kiss her, the way she blushed, the way she stayed close... it was all there.

She liked him.

He felt a wave of happiness rise in his chest. Not the giddy kind. The steady, quiet kind that made him want to do everything right.

He just had to be patient. Slow and steady.

Because Spencer didn’t want this to be temporary. He didn’t want to be a fun fling or just a convenient kiss.

He wanted to be her first real love.

And her last.

From now until the day she wore white.

"You okay?" Aurora asked suddenly, noticing how quiet he’d gotten.

"Yeah," Spencer said, turning to her with that soft, dreamy look still lingering in his eyes. "Just thinking."

"About what?"

"About ice cream. Do you want to eat butterstoch?" He asked softly.

Aurora blinked. "You’re weird."

"Yeah, but I’m your weirdo now, right?"

She rolled her eyes. "That depends."

"On?"

"Whether you stop trying to smuggle kisses when I’m trying to think."

Spencer leaned in one last ti and pressed a kiss to her forehead. "Deal. I’ll keep it to one kiss every ten minutes."

"That’s still six per hour."

"Mathematically gifted and romantically dood," he said with mock tragedy. "My curse."

Aurora finally laughed, shoving his shoulder lightly.

"Co on. Let’s go back before soone starts another rumor."

Spencer looked at her reluctantly and almost said, ’Then let them start, that is what I want.’

Taking a deep breath and suppressing the rising urge to claim Aurora, he fixed her hair and clothes and asked softly,

"Do you want to carry you?"

Aurora’s face flushed, and she shouted,

"No!"

Spencer chuckled and raised both his hands,

"I was just suggesting!"

Aurora narrowed her eyes but didn’t expose his intentions.

The classroom buzzed with idle chatter as Aurora and Spencer stepped inside

"Spencer!" Diana waved eagerly, patting the empty seat beside her. "Co sit here!"

Spencer didn’t even glance in her direction.

Without hesitation, he followed Aurora to the back of the room and slipped into the seat beside her, cool and casual like it was the most natural thing in the world.

Diana’s smile faltered.

"What the hell?" she muttered, blinking as if she’d just seen a ghost. Her voice rose sharply. "Spencer, what do you think you’re doing?!"

Heads turned. The room quieted as curious eyes followed the scene unfolding.

Spencer blinked slowly, raising a brow. "Excuse ?"

"You’re following her?" Diana said, pointing at Aurora as if she were sothing unworthy. "That nouveau-rich brat? Are you serious?"

Aurora stiffened but didn’t speak. Her expression stayed neutral, though her fingers curled into her sleeves.

Spencer stood up, his face losing its usual playful charm. "Watch your mouth, Diana."

Diana laughed—bitter, forced.

"Oh please. Everyone here knows I was the one always beside you in high school! And now, just because she threw so money your way, you’re acting like I don’t exist?"

"I was clear with you," Spencer said flatly. "But since you’re asking again, let spell it out."
