She would find out who this woman was and she would make sure she never dared to ss with Spencer again.
Her possessiveness wasn’t sothing she liked about herself, but in monts like this, she didn’t care.
Back on screen, the woman gave a small, trembling sigh. "I didn’t expect you to be this cold, Spencer. Tell ... if you didn’t end up with Aurora, would you have accepted then?"
Aurora was imdiately interested, and without hesitation, she leaned in closer to the phone, trying to hear Spencer clearly.
From the other end, a low chuckle ca through the speaker, but this ti, it wasn’t the warm laugh she was used to. It was darker and colder and carried an edge that made her freeze for a second.
Spencer’s voice ca next, deep and sharp. "If I wasn’t with Aurora," he said, "then I’d kill everyone who tried to be with her."
Aurora blinked, stunned. For a mont, she thought she had misheard him.
Was this even the Spencer she knew? Her Spencer, the one who smiled softly, spoke gently, and held her hand like she was made of glass... how could he sound like this?
Her heart pounded, and yet, oddly enough, she wasn’t scared. Shocked, yes. But not scared.
It was strange, but no matter what she saw or heard, she could never truly fear Spencer.
She rembered how he had once gotten angry when she refused to cut ties with Mia.
That day, there had been a flash of darkness behind his calm eyes, sothing wild that he had quickly hidden.
Now, listening to his voice, she realized she had overlooked sothing all along.
Spencer wasn’t just the calm and kind man she saw every day.
He had a side... a side that was sharp, possessive, and deeply protective. And he had been keeping that part of himself buried all this ti.
Before Aurora could say anything, the woman on the other end, still wearing her black lingerie, scoffed. "You’re crazy!" she said sharply.
"If you can love Aurora that much, then why not ? I can beco her if you want. I can dress like her, talk like her, I can even change my face for you!"
Her tone was desperate, almost manic. "I can undergo surgery if that’s what you want! I can be Aurora!"
Aurora’s stomach twisted. The woman’s words made her feel disgusted, and she clenched her fists tightly.
Spencer, however, just sighed and rolled his eyes. "I don’t want a substitute," he said flatly. "I don’t want a copy or a replacent. It would be better if you stopped dreaming about things that will never happen."
The woman’s face hardened. She clenched her fists, her voice trembling with anger.
"Don’t push too far, Spencer. You think you can threaten ? You should be the one thanking . I’m doing you a favor."
Spencer’s voice turned colder. "A favor?" he repeated.
"No. I ca here for business. If you think this is a favor, then I’ll make sure to talk to your father and clear the misunderstanding."
The woman’s expression changed instantly. Her eyes widened, and the color drained from her face. She quickly stood up from the bed and glared at him.
"You’re being too harsh!" she snapped. "Can’t you show a little rcy?"
Spencer gave a short, humorless laugh. "rcy?" he said, his tone cutting. "You don’t need rcy. You need to leave."
Before she could reply, her tone suddenly shifted into panic. "Spencer, what are you doing?!"
Aurora heard the sound of footsteps and the noise of sothing being dragged.
Spencer’s distant voice ca through clearly. "I gave you three warnings," he said calmly. "Now you’ll learn what happens when you don’t listen."
"Spencer! You’re insane!" the woman scread.
But Spencer didn’t reply. There was a loud thud, followed by the sound of a door slamming shut.
For a few seconds, there was silence.
Then, Aurora saw the cara shake slightly as Spencer ca back into view, looking around the room. His eyes widened when he spotted his phone standing against the vase. He froze, and then panic crossed his face.
He quickly picked up the phone, and when he saw Aurora on the screen, his face turned pale. "Aurora," he said in a small voice, "this isn’t what it looks like. I can explain!"
He even unmuted her.
Aurora crossed her arms, pretending to glare at him. "Explain?" she said. "Who was that woman, Spencer? Are you cheating on ?"
Spencer’s eyes widened even more, and he shook his head so fast that he looked like a nervous child caught doing sothing wrong.
"No! No, I swear I’m not! She ca to my hotel room on her own! I told her to leave so many tis, but she kept... sticking to like glue! I swear, it wasn’t !"
Aurora stayed silent, watching him squirm.
"If I’m lying," Spencer said desperately, raising his hand like he was making an oath, "then may lightning strike right now!"
Aurora secretly rolled her eyes but kept her expression serious. "Hmm," she said slowly. "I don’t know, Spencer. Maybe I need to think about our relationship."
Spencer almost had a heart attack. "No! Aurora, please!" he said quickly. "I can prove it! Just give one chance to explain!"
Aurora tilted her head, pretending to look doubtful. "Prove it? And how exactly are you going to do that?"
Spencer straightened up, clearly nervous but determined.
"I have a cara installed in my room," he said quickly. "It’s connected to a secure system. It records everything, with sound too. You can check it if you want... you’ll see the whole thing."
Aurora’s lips twitched, and she finally started laughing. Spencer blinked in confusion. "Wait... are you laughing?"
Aurora’s soft giggle turned into full laughter. "Oh, Spencer," she said between laughs, "I can’t believe you fell for it!"
Spencer froze for a second, then sighed in relief. "You were pranking ?"
Aurora nodded, wiping the tears of laughter from her eyes. "You should’ve seen your face!"
Spencer rubbed his forehead, looking both relieved and exasperated. "You scared half to death," he said. "I didn’t know my girlfriend enjoyed torturing like this."
Aurora grinned. "Maybe you deserved it," she teased. "You looked so serious; I couldn’t help it."
Spencer rolled his eyes but smiled. "If you were in my place, you’d understand how I felt."
Aurora tilted her head. "But I’m not," she said with a playful tone.
They both chuckled softly, and for a mont, the tension vanished. Then Spencer frowned and asked, "Wait... did you call and that woman received it? I should have slapped her!"
Aurora explained,
"That woman called , and since your na appeared on my screen, I thought you were the one calling . I answered, and then she set it so that I could hear everything. That’s how I heard everything."
Realization dawned on Spencer’s face. "So that’s why you were muted," he said quietly. "You saw everything..."
Aurora nodded. "Yes. I did. And I must say, that woman really has guts."
Spencer sighed and rubbed the back of his neck. "It’s my fault," he admitted. "I shouldn’t have let soone like her near . I was only dealing with her father about a business deal. I didn’t think she’d... act like that."
Aurora gave him a sharp look. "You’re lucky I trust you," she said softly. "Otherwise, I might’ve jumped into the screen and slapped you."
Spencer laughed nervously. "You’re not serious, right?"
Aurora smirked. "Try ."
Spencer chuckled, shaking his head. "You really don’t hold back, do you?"
Aurora smiled. "If I have to hold back even in front of my boyfriend, then maybe we shouldn’t be in a relationship."
Spencer laughed at that. "I’m not complaining," he said lightly.
They talked for a while longer, joking and teasing each other until Aurora suddenly asked, "So who is that girl, really?"
Spencer’s smile faded a little. "It’s better if you don’t get involved," he said quietly.
Aurora narrowed her eyes. "Why? What’s going on?"
Spencer hesitated before finally explaining.
"She’s the daughter of a mafia leader I’m negotiating with. Her father runs an underground network, and one of his n is a top-level hacker. If you try to dig into their background, they’ll find out, and they’ll target you. I can’t risk that."
Aurora leaned back, her face serious now. "What if," she said slowly, "I send the video of her trying to seduce you to that hacker first? Then hack her after that?"
Spencer blinked, surprised. "That... would actually work," he said after a pause. "If you send that first, they’ll be too busy cleaning up their ss to trace you."
Aurora smiled faintly but didn’t tell him she was joking. She knew that doing sothing like that would only bring more danger to Spencer.
After a brief silence, she looked at him softly and said, "I miss you."
Spencer’s voice softened instantly. "I miss you too."
Aurora sighed, resting her chin on her palm. "Dad’s planning to remarry Mom," she said quietly. "He is trying to find destinations for it."
