Adam sighed at Theodore’s exaggerated reaction, shaking his head as Adriana rolled her eyes.

"You’re way too happy for soone who was just running away like a maniac a few minutes ago," Olivia muttered.

Theodore shot her a glare but was too excited to care.

"Finally, a decent place to live! No more squeaky floors! No more tiny rooms! And best of all, no more leaking ceilings every ti it rains!"

Adriana crossed her arms.

"Aren’t you forgetting sothing? This isn’t just about moving to a better place. It’s about bringing Alex to live with us."

"I don’t have any problem." Theodore raises his hand in the air.

Olivia knew that it was Aurora’s wish and, hence, didn’t disagree.

The last person to know about the decision was Lucas. He remained silent, and everyone took his silence as his acceptance.

The next day.

The library was eerily quiet that morning, save for the occasional rustling of pages and the soft whispers of students imrsed in their studies.

Sunlight filtered through the tall arched windows, casting warm golden hues over the dark wooden shelves.

In one of the more secluded corners, Alex sat alone, engrossed in a book.

Adriana took a deep breath, steeling herself before approaching.

Her steps were slow but deliberate, and despite her usual composed deanor, she felt the weight of what she was about to do pressing on her shoulders.

Alex must have sensed soone nearing because he lifted his head, his sharp gray eyes widening slightly when they landed on her.

Surprise flickered across his face, and for a mont, an unreadable silence stretched between them.

Finally, he spoke, his voice low and wary. "Adriana? What are you doing here?"

She t his gaze with unwavering calm. "Are you interested in living with us?"

The book he had been holding slipped from his grasp and landed with a dull thud on the wooden table.

His fingers twitched as if he were struggling to process her words. "What?" he asked, his voice barely above a whisper.

"I asked if you’re interested in living with us," Adriana repeated evenly, though inwardly, she was bracing herself for his reaction.

Alex leaned back slightly, his expression shadowed with disbelief.

"Why?" His tone held an edge, as though he was waiting for so cruel trick to be revealed.

"Why would you want to acknowledge now?"

"It’s Aurora’s wish," she said at last. "She insisted."

Alex visibly stiffened. "Aurora?" he repeated. "Why?"

Adriana’s irritation flickered for just a mont before she shook her head. "I don’t know," she admitted bluntly.

"She just said it’s sothing she wants."

Alex’s gaze dropped to the table. His fingers curled into loose fists, his thoughts seemingly lost in a tempest of emotions.

After a long silence, he spoke, his voice hesitant. "Mary won’t agree."

Adriana folded her arms. "She already has."

His head snapped up, and for the first ti, genuine shock colored his features.

"She... agreed?" His voice wavered slightly as if the words themselves were foreign to him.

Adriana nodded, watching as sothing flickered in his expression—hope, disbelief, maybe even longing.

"Alright."

Adriana heaved a sigh of relief and said,

"Then today, join us at family dinner."

Alex nodded.

Once Adriana left, Alex stood up, and a huge grin appeared on his face.

Just as Alex was about to leave the library, he noticed an old woman sitting by the window.

"Eleanor!" he called, hurrying over.

The old woman turned, and when she saw Alex, her smile widened. Before she could say anything, Alex wrapped his arms around her in a tight hug.

"Mother finally accepted ," he whispered, his voice filled with emotion.

"She called to et her. She wants to be with the family."

Eleanor patted his back gently.

"That is wonderful, child. You deserve happiness," she said in a soft voice. "Tonight will be an amazing evening for you."

Alex pulled away and looked at her with grateful eyes. "Thank you, Eleanor. I’ll see you soon."

She nodded, and he left the library, feeling lighter than he had in years.

..................

Alex arrived at a grand villa, planning to change his clothes and style his hair.

He stepped inside, expecting a quiet house, but instead, low moans and heavy breathing filled the air.

His steps slowed as he turned his head toward the living room.

There, sprawled on the couch, was his younger brother, tangled up with his girlfriend.

Their hands road over each other, and their faces flushed.

The grin on Alex’s face vanished instantly.

His happy mood disappeared like a candle blown out by the wind.

He clenched his jaw and looked away, stepping toward the staircase.

The younger brother, still caught up in his mont, didn’t notice Alex at first.

But as soon as he sensed another presence, he quickly shoved his girlfriend away.

His eyes darted toward the figure walking up the stairs.

His expression turned into a deep frown. "What are you doing here?" he snapped.

Alex didn’t stop walking.

He kept his back to his younger brother and said in a calm voice,

"I forgot sothing. I’ll leave after picking it up."

His younger brother’s eyes darkened.

He didn’t like being ignored.

His teeth clenched as anger bubbled in his chest. He grabbed a nearby teacup and, without thinking, hurled it toward Alex.

The cup flew through the air, spinning before it smashed onto the floor near Alex’s feet.

"Stay still and answer !" the younger brother shouted.

Alex paused. The sound of broken ceramic echoed in the room. Slowly, he turned his head slightly, his expression as cold as ice.

But he didn’t say a word.

Who was Alex’s younger brother? His father’s heart, the very god, his father worships and love.

If Alex was ever caught talking back to his younger brother or ignoring his younger brother, he would be whipped till he lost a layer of skin.

"You disturbed my fun. Co here and kneel down." His younger brother waved his hand.

Alex was used to such arrogance.
