Now reading: Chapter 222: Staff Of Patience from Born in apocalypse, a Fantasy novel by COSMIC04.

When he entered the warehouse, a wave of chilling air hit him directly in his face. Oblivious to all the warnings his body was giving, Zola continued to enter the deeper area of this cold hell.

"Where are the corpses?" He cursed himself that he forgot to ask Azarex about the corpse.

Adrenaline began to pump in his body as he saw a green body lying on the sheet of ice. Running toward the body, he quickly grabbed it by the leg and began to drag it toward the gate.

Sigh!

Zola finally heaved a sigh of relief after exiting the warehouse. After closing the door he looked toward in a particular direction. It didn’t take him long to figure out the problem he was in.

’How am I supposed to drag this body to my workshop?’ Zola thought as he looked at the body and tried to co up with the estimated distance between the two places.

Before he could think about it, a sound ca from beside him, "Do you want so help?" An Undead muttered as he looked into his soul through his eyes.

"Please, My lord... I would l..." Before he could even finish his words, a ga goblin ca from the shadow and lifted the corpse on his shoulder.

"..." Zola gulped a mouthful of saliva as he saw this monstrous undead placing one of his kin on his shoulder like there was nothing wrong with it. Understanding what to do next, he quickly began to lead the way.

’What will he do with this corpse...’ The monstrous undead thought as he followed the puny human in front of him. The undead couldn’t figure out why the man in front of him was smirking.

"Thank you, Lord Azarex. I can handle it from here." Zola bowed, saying these words.

Nodding its head, the undead didn’t wait for long and turned back to go towards the warehouse.

’Let’s see if it works or not...’ thinking this, Zola began to drag the monster a place a few ters away from his workplace. Finding the perfect place, he stopped and ran back into the workshop.

Picking a knife, he ran toward the corpse and quickly made an incision on its stomach. It took him a while, but in the end, he was able to find what he was looking for in the end.

Picking the goblin’s intestine, he began to walk toward the edge of the beach. With the help of warm ocean water, he began to clean the intestine thoroughly. His goal here was to remove every single drop of blood from the flesh.

It took Zola so ti to get all the frozen blood completely removed from the flesh... but in the end, he was satisfied with the result. Blood continued to flow in the water as our weaponsmith began to walk back to his workshop.

Placing the intestine on the table he began to observe it with a very keen focus. After a minute of thinking he placed a tier 2 core on top of the flesh and took multiple markings of that size.

A small tube ford as he cut the flesh from multiple places. Placing a core inside that small part of the flesh he began to observe it as well.

"Looks about right.." With a straight face, Zola moves toward an area where multiple burn marks are present.

Igniting his small forge, he began to vaporize all the moisture that was present in the flesh. In just a matter of seconds, the flesh constricted and got glued to the surface of the core.

"Let it be a success, my goddess.." Prying to his god he walks back to his table.

Sitting comfortably, he placed the core on the table beside his staff. Opening his status, he went to one of his skills and opened its description. Nurous runes popped up in front of his eyes, each labeled with the place where it should be used.

Scrolling down, he found the perfect one that would be useful here. The na of this rune is Runic Valve.

The function of the Runic Valve was to restrict the flow of mana from one side while letting the other side maintain a connection. Understanding this, Zola began to set up the rune.

He was setting up this Valve rune in a way that the rune—the one written on the wood—could absorb mana, but the core itself couldn’t send its own mana directly to the wood.

Sigh...

Zola heaved a sigh of relief as he noticed that the core wasn’t absorbing all the pure mana. After confirming that he had drawn the right symbol, he placed the core in the hole.

Taking a deep breath for God knows how many tis, he sent a very tiny amount of mana to the staff.

As his mana touched the staff, the core glead for a fraction of a second. Zola didn’t let his hopes get high as everything was good until now last ti as well.

Zola knows that the next ten seconds are going to be his longest ten seconds. Stopping his breath, he began to count the numbers...

Ten... nine... eight... seven... six... five... four... three...

Before he could finish his counting, a notification appeared in front of him.
