CHAPTER TWENTY-ONE: THE REMNANT ARMY
The passages opened into a vast underground cavern, its ceiling lost in shadow. The floor was littered with bones—the remains of countless warriors who had fallen in the ancient war.
Shen Chen stood at the edge of the cavern, his breath caught in his throat. The sight was overwhelming, the sheer scale of the destruction almost incomprehensible.
This is where they died. This is where the war ended.
And then he felt it. A surge of spiritual energy, imnse and malevolent, rising from the bones.
The bones began to shift, to rise, to form shapes. Hundreds of Remnant Spirits erged from the darkness, their eyes burning with ancient hatred.

Shen Chen didn't hesitate. He turned and ran, his heart pounding, his lungs burning. The Remnant Army surged after him, their shrieks echoing through the cavern.
Run. Run. Run.
He sprinted through the passages, his body moving on pure instinct. The traps were still there, but he didn't have ti to avoid them. He triggered a pressure plate, and a blade swung from the ceiling, grazing his shoulder. He stumbled, nearly fell, but kept running.
I'm not going to die here. Not like this.
He burst through a passage and found himself in a narrow corridor. The Remnant Army was still behind him, their shrieks growing louder.
I need to find a way out. I need—
He saw it—a door, its surface covered in ancient runes. He reached for it, his fingers brushing against the stone.
The door opened, and he stumbled through.
