"Jack Smith, if you dare ntion breaking up again, I’ll show you what true despair looks like..." Luna Miller was like a ticking ti bomb, and after saying those words, she hurled the phone onto the carpet with force.
He actually dared to suggest breaking up, and he was serious about it, not joking at all.
Luna’s emotions were shattered by Jack Smith’s proposal to break up; she couldn’t even understand what she had done wrong.
She had strategized for him, secured the funding for him to invest in a film company, accompanied him to shoots during the day, offered him comfort at night—what more could he want?
He was so determined about the breakup, even holding their photo as a threat was useless to him.
Jack Smith said that the era of idols not dating is long gone, and now the effects of dating and breaking up are very temporary; the heat will be overshadowed by new headlines within a week. Astonishingly, he stated that if any impact occurs, he would move behind the scenes.
But right now, Luna is unwilling to break up. In terms of looks, Jack Smith is already the best choice, plus his career is promising. She could easily break into that realm, and she loves being followed, loves the flash of the magnesium lights. She even believes that accompanying Jack Smith to events, she wouldn’t be inferior to those female stars.
Why has everything she anticipated changed in the end?
As soon as Charlotte Miller got back to the Miller Family estate, she heard noises upstairs sounding like furniture being trashed.
Freya Morgon was sitting on the sofa, still in her elegantly fitted modified qipao, with a light makeup that even when her brows furrowed, exuded a peculiar charm.
Her mother was like that; even at ho in the living room, she dressed ticulously. Though only Luna and two servants were there, she maintained her grace.
The only ti Charlotte saw her mother differently was that one ti at the airport, where nervousness and tension stripped her usual nobility and elegance.
"What’s wrong with Luna?" Charlotte glanced upstairs, knowing she wouldn’t see anything since all the doors were shut, but instinctively looked up anyway.
Freya gently shook her head, indicating she didn’t know, then motioned with her hand for Charlotte to co over: "Charlotte, co here."
Charlotte went over, sitting beside her mother. The truth was that while beauty fades, the events of the past year had dulled her mother significantly.
Won co in many forms, so akin to diamonds, but her mother was more like a pearl—not as dazzling as a diamond but softly luminous and captivating. Yet, recent tis had dimd her mother’s gleam.
"How’s Atlas Hallow treating you?" It was always this question; mothers around the world shared the sa fear, that their daughters in marriage might not be treated well, even a mother like hers asked the sa ordinary question.
Is it good?
It’s slowly improving. From initial tentative interactions, they’ve progressed to converse comfortably now; she’s discovered Atlas Hallow to be a genuinely enticing man inside and out.
"Mom, rest assured, he treats well." Although this statent might be slightly exaggerated, his treatnt of her was indeed comndable.
"Maybe it’s fate, Luna doesn’t catch Atlas Hallow’s eye, but you do." Freya looked at Charlotte, thinking that such a marriage was too taxing and heavy for her, but surprisingly, Charlotte was adapting well, maybe even quite successfully.
Family alliances were common, but marrying without even eting beforehand was unprecedented.
The Miller Family had no leverage at all in sending their daughter to Atlas Hallow, and this disparity made Freya feel uneasy, even guilty towards Charlotte.
Luna’s beauty was sowhat superficial, and Freya always felt her younger daughter was different, possessing a stubborn streak hidden beneath a graceful exterior.
She always believed Charlotte was capable of great things, not just because of those few stubborn streaks, but also because she was gifted, perceptive, and abundantly kind.
"If you can accept it, then live with him well. It may not be so bad; if it becos unbearable, please endure a little, we will think of a solution." Freya’s gentle voice was soothing, yet the noise upstairs grew louder until a final silence fell afterward.
Suddenly, it was completely quiet, leaving Charlotte puzzled. Knowing Luna, unless she was done smashing things, she wouldn’t stop.
