The car raced down the sparsely populated suburban road, the wind tousling her hair into a flutter, like a streak of red lightning across the sowhat desolate countryside.

Atlas Hallow was tightly following behind, his heart clenched repeatedly, wondering what this girl was up to.

For a full month, she seed to have withdrawn into her shell, unreachable by anyone, living in her own world without uttering a single extra word to him; the feeling was truly oppressively unbearable. When the housekeeper ntioned she was planning to go out, he felt a sense of relief—a breath of fresh air might be good for her. Yet he hadn’t anticipated the housekeeper cautiously ntioning that she was driving out by herself.

When he heard Charlotte Miller was driving herself, he was montarily shocked. Charlotte rarely drove herself, perhaps unfamiliar with dostic roads, or maybe just lazy, or perhaps there was another reason. Anyway, throughout the long ti she had been back in the country, she hadn’t touched the steering wheel.

If a special event occurs at a particular point in ti, it must have a special aning. Was losing the child such a huge blow to her? Enough to completely alter her personality?

The lingering chill of spring blew by, gentle light reflecting off the car. In Atlas Hallow’s line of sight, the red car sped forward like a burning fla, the man’s gaze frighteningly calm as he tightly focused on that fla, pressing the accelerator to follow.

Watching that fla accelerate, Atlas Hallow abandoned the thought of blocking her.

Fretfully slowing down, he was sowhat worried; what if sothing went wrong with her driving so fast?

Once this thought crept into his mind, it turned into an obsession, making him hesitant to follow too closely.

Since Charlotte seed determined to race against him, if he pursued a bit closer, Charlotte would brake harder, accelerating faster than him. When he slowed down, Charlotte wouldn’t drive as fast either. His business car definitely had weaker acceleration compared to her running car.

Charlotte’s speed gradually slowed down, trying her best to concentrate on the road ahead, avoiding looking at the car trailing distantly in the rearview mirror, because the more she looked, the more her heart would beco frantic.

Actually, even without looking she could still feel the scorching gaze of the man driving the car behind her.

This tight pursuit and silent scrutiny created an imnse pressure, suffocating her.

A stalemate had already ford between her and Atlas Hallow, an unbreakable impasse.

Atlas Hallow would never understand why Charlotte Miller changed so much in such a short ti. He wasn’t a god, even if he could cover the sky with one hand, there was a scope beyond his control. Moreover, he couldn’t fathom Ava Walker’s complicity with Hailey Hill in recording his words, and how that recording had made its way to Charlotte’s ears, coinciding right on ti, all events clustering together.

Charlotte wondered if she’d stop, open the car door and step out, Atlas Hallow would undoubtedly stop his car too, and then reach out his arms to her. If it were before, eting like this on the road, she would happily quicken her pace, almost sprinting into his embrace, pressing her face against his chest, where she could hear her own heartbeat at that instant. His arms would hold her tightly, firm and strong, and his scent would be appealing, layered musk, always enticing her, making her instinctively lt.

Such excitent always made her inexplicably sweet, but everything had changed. This man seed like a stranger to her, or worse than a stranger.

Only soone who was deeply in love would have such profoundly bitter resentnt...

Perhaps all won would think that marrying a man like Atlas Hallow ant happiness, when in fact happiness has no standard definition. What she views as happiness isn’t endless material indulgence; she wants unique love, she wants her husband to love only her.

One pressing matter still troubled him enormously; before she could smoothly leave Atlas Hallow, inevitable intimate contact might still occur, but she never wanted to bear this man’s child again.

She couldn’t imagine if one day after giving birth, Atlas Hallow might reveal a terrifying true face and take the child away, gifting the child to Hailey Hill, leaving her never to see her own child again. Such a thing should never happen to her.
