From the coffee shop where she sat, she could see Jack Smith’s poster, and suddenly a terrifyingly bold idea popped into her mind so fast that she found it hard to believe herself.
Charlotte Miller’s inner thoughts were like surging waves, rising and falling incessantly.
She knew that recently she had done many things that Atlas Hallow had tolerated, but she didn’t know where his patience would end. Yet if she fell for another man, Atlas Hallow, such a proud and domineering man, would never tolerate it, not even for a second.
Atlas Hallow’s woman fell for another man?
As soon as Charlotte thought of this, her pores suddenly opened violently, as if absorbing all the cold air in the mall, and she shivered all over. This thought made her tremble with cold, though she didn’t know if it was out of fear or sothing else.
She lowered her eyes and thought carefully for no more than three seconds, then suddenly lifted her long eyelashes, her red lips parted slightly as she lowly asked, "Do you want to have dinner together after the event ends?"
It was the first ti she invited a man, not too familiar, to have dinner together.
Jack Smith was dazed for a few seconds, trying to ensure he hadn’t misheard?
How could Charlotte Miller possibly invite him to dinner actively?
She always maintained a certain distance from him, polite yet never intimate, so unfamiliar that it’s less than ordinary friends. How did she suddenly want to invite him to dinner together?
"You don’t have ti, do you?" Charlotte heard Jack Smith not answer on the other end of the phone, smiling to herself that the idea wasn’t very feasible, and just as she was about to hang up, Jack Smith’s voice ca from the other side: "I happen to have ti today, can you wait for at the underground parking lot?"
How could he not have ti if she invited him? Even just sitting with Charlotte Miller for a while would be fulfilling.
The event started soon and lasted about half an hour. Charlotte watched as the mall suddenly beca much quieter; almost all the girls had run to see Jack Smith, and the activity area beca lively. The girls scread and took photos from every angle with their phones. Charlotte smiled biting her lip watching all of this; are young idols really so attractive to little girls?
Over this period, Jack Smith had beco increasingly popular; his movies, music, and advertisents filled the main pages of various entertainnt dia.
If she hung out with Jack Smith a few tis, even deliberately avoiding, the reporters would likely capture her movents. Atlas Hallow would no longer need to ask her; he could learn her whereabouts from the newspapers or online dia.
Thinking of this, Charlotte smiled cruelly; she might be heading into a dead end, but perhaps only in a dead end can one find a path to survival.
How pathetic she was; she hated exploiting others most, but this ti she exploited Jack Smith.
But involving Jack Smith in this disaster, would it be too unfair to him?
Staying by Atlas Hallow’s side now, every single mont felt like a torturous execution.
Atlas Hallow was like a terrifying swamp; once stepped into, there was no way out. Charlotte knew she was hopelessly trapped, and leaving him was the only way to survive. If she didn’t leave, she didn’t know what Atlas Hallow would do; what might he do together with Hailey Hill?
Thinking of Atlas Hallow being with Hailey Hill for ten years, thinking of him promising to find a woman to have a child for Hailey Hill, made it seem impossible to carry on living. Her love, so sincere, was turned into a tool in his hands; what she believed to be priceless beca a terrible tool, treating a woman’s body as a tool. No matter how his thoughts might change later, this ugly fact couldn’t be concealed.
If she could, she wished she could slice into Atlas Hallow’s heart with a knife and see what it was like, how he could let his wife bear such pain and humiliation.
As soon as Jack Smith’s event ended, he dismissed his assistants, put on a coat, hat, and mask, wrapped himself tightly, and rushed to the underground parking lot via the mall employees’ elevator, almost running all the way, afraid that Charlotte would beco impatient and leave if he was a second late.
From afar, he saw Charlotte standing by his car. He opened the car door, and Charlotte got in without a word. Jack Smith cautiously glanced around, then opened the car door and climbed into the driver’s seat.
"It’s really been a long ti, almost half a year, right?" Jack Smith took off his mask only after getting into the car, looking at Charlotte sitting beside him, feeling incredibly unreal.
Secret admiration is a beautiful dream; actually, he never hoped this dream would beco real, because since it’s a dream, when one wakes up, it surely disappears. However, this unexpected eting with Charlotte left him sowhat excited.
He had just been elected as the girls’ dream lover, but no one knew he also had a dream lover, high above and beyond reach.
These past tis, Charlotte seed to have beco even more charming.
She appeared a bit thinner, yet the contours of her face looked elegantly noble like a fairy; her sweater exposed a large portion of her back, and the faintly visible butterfly bones were irresistibly alluring, making one wish their gaze would turn into butterflies resting there. During these days of not seeing her, she seed to have changed a lot; the only thing unchanged was her strong attraction to him which made his heart race.
He drove the car towards the outskirts of the city, then said with a smile, "If you don’t mind, I’ll bring you sothing different to eat."
"Okay." Charlotte nodded, watching the scenery outside the window slowly start to change.
"Why don’t you ask about Luna Miller’s situation?" The silence in the car beca awkward, and Charlotte lowered her head, asking softly.
"With you around, she will be alright." Jack Smith said confidently, knowing that Charlotte had forcibly sent Luna abroad. Luna should get better in the presence of her parents.
Charlotte faintly smiled and said nothing more.
Indeed Jack Smith might be enchanting to many girls, but she couldn’t find any trace of a heartbeat.
Love and hate are actually the sa substance; the reaction this substance causes can only be brought to her by Atlas Hallow.
