Her body was sticky with sweat, and it seed like there wasn’t even a place to take a shower. Charlotte decided not to care about anything else; she just wanted to return to her and Ethan’s company. At least there would be security there, and Oliver would definitely co. Atlas couldn’t possibly blow up the whole building, right?
Dragging her exhausted body, Charlotte kept walking along the path out of the ruins, her eyes so blurry that she couldn’t see clearly. She just wanted to leave this place, to leave where Atlas was.
Suddenly, she felt a pair of hands grabbing her from behind, followed by a particular scent overwhelming her. Her vision went black, and her entire body softened as she fainted.
"Mom, hurry up..." she faintly heard two won talking before she passed out.
It’s rare for this city to have such a major case, and when it happens, it’s so bloody it’s terrifying.
According to the person who discovered the cri scene, the entire old house was filled with the sll of blood. They saw a skinny woman seemingly soaked in a pool of blood, with her neck brutally slit open, and another large bloodstain below her lungs. The woman who committed the murder was also present at the scene.
The murdered woman clutched the murderer’s clothing with one hand, ripping off the buttons. In the murderer’s hand was a sharp little knife embedded in the victim’s body, and there were even signs of a struggle between the two.
"It wasn’t , really it wasn’t ..." Charlotte looked at the scene before her, surrounded by a blood-red view, so terrified she couldn’t even make a sound.
Had she entered inferno?
Even inferno shouldn’t be this frightening, right?
Standing in front of her was a group of police officers. So held caras, so wore white gloves, and they took the sharp bloodstained knife from Charlotte’s hand.
At the mont she awoke, she thought she had escaped Atlas’s demonic hand, only to find she had fallen into an even more terrifying inferno.
Lying on the ground with her was Hailey Hill. Yes, it was Hailey Hill.
The already frighteningly thin Hailey Hill had bled out from two blood holes on her body, her face turning so ashen it was as horrifying as a mummy in a movie.
Charlotte shivered retreating; she had never been this close to death.
Blood-soaked eyelashes hurt even when she tried to open her eyes. She was unable to speak, weakly lifted by two policen, dragged out of the old house, and shoved into the police car.
Only then did she suddenly awaken, saying, "I couldn’t have killed her. I didn’t kill anyone. I was brought here by soone. I don’t know anything..."
Her sharp cry was drowned out by the sound of the police car speeding away.
When discovered, she held the murder weapon in her hand, and her neck bore the marks left by Hailey Hill breaking her skin. It seed she had no chance even to defend herself.
But there was one person who could testify for her.
"I want to see my lawyer," Charlotte tried hard to stay clear-headed. She didn’t do these things; there would always be a chance to clear her na.
"Miss, even in your state, is seeing a lawyer useful? It would save us trouble if you clarify everything," the policeman responsible for interrogating her sighed regretfully. "Why do sothing like this? You’re so pretty, yet you want to ruin your future."
"I want to see my lawyer. I have a witness who can prove I wasn’t there at the ti..." Charlotte said trembling. She least wanted to ask Atlas for help, but she happened to be trapped in the ruin warehouse by him at that ti. He was her witness.
She didn’t want to be falsely convicted of murder without knowing why. She didn’t hope to spend the rest of her life in prison.
