The scent from Mia Miller gave her a sense of peace and happiness.
"Mia, when you grow up, you have to be good to Auntie and take care of her, okay?" Charlotte Miller felt a pang of sourness and pain when she thought of Luna Miller.
Luna Miller did so much for Mia that one day, when Mia is able to understand the aning of these things, she would tell her.
Perhaps what the sisters couldn’t achieve, Mia could do it for them, couldn’t she?
The magnetic field between people is peculiar; Mia’s magnetic field could just soften Luna Miller.
"Gee... da..." Mia Miller bit her lip and smiled, saying quietly with sowhat broken words, "Mia likes Auntie..."
Holding the little Mia in her arms, it seed she could understand her intentions.
Charlotte unexpectedly felt comforted.
Just as she was holding Mia going downstairs, she saw Atlas Hallow standing in front of the flower garden outside, his tall figure seed as if it could absorb all light.
Did he just ring the doorbell, and she couldn’t hear it upstairs?
Charlotte carried Mia and opened the door, since he already knew Mia existed, he did bring Mia back yesterday after all.
Even though he didn’t say anything, Charlotte could sense how brutal it must have been yesterday, after all, no one had ever injured him like that before.
This was Atlas Hallow’s first ti officially seeing his daughter.
He just stared blankly at Mia, his mind blank for several seconds.
The little girl seed as soft as a cloud of cotton, yet her eyes were as captivating as black gems, like wearing natural contact lenses, Atlas saw countless spots of light in those eyes, shining straight into his heart.
He should have prepared so gifts, but learning of this little girl’s existence was truly unexpected.
"Co in..." Charlotte said softly, knowing Atlas would co today.
Mia’s little face buried into Charlotte’s shoulder, sneaking glances at Atlas while giggling.
Charlotte held Mia with one arm, and took out her breakfast, a small stead bun, a bottle of milk powder, and a portion of mashed sweet potatoes mixed with cheese.
Each food item was small in portion, placed in delicate tableware, appearing especially appetizing.
Before Charlotte could speak, Mia waved at Atlas, softly saying, "Uncle... hello..."
This sentence felt like heavenly music, Atlas watched Mia as she spoke and then giggled while hiding in Charlotte’s arms, seemingly a bit embarrassed.
"Hello..." Hello, my child, Atlas said internally, hesitant to say anything out loud since Charlotte had the right to decide everything.
Just at that mont, Freya Morgon returned from the supermarket, no longer as cold as during the first eting, because he risked his life to bring Mia back.
She poured a glass of water for Atlas and took Mia from Charlotte’s arms: "Charlotte, I’ll feed her, she might eat more outside in the garden."
Outside in the small garden were exquisite wicker chairs, Mia liked to sit there, nibbling her breakfast while breaking bits to feed the birds, which made her want to eat more.
The room was left with only Charlotte Miller and Atlas Hallow, and the air instantly turned silent.
Atlas looked at Charlotte with deep eyes, speaking softly, "If it hadn’t been for the danger, would you have kept it from forever?"
Actually, not letting Atlas know wasn’t much of a concern, yet at that mont it felt like being caught doing sothing wrong, her translucent face slightly reddened with a dizzying heat.
Atlas approached her, his thin lips parting slightly: "Tell how much you despise , how much you hate to the point you’d give birth to Mia without telling , huh?"
That was his child; how could he not know?
After a mont of oblivion, the flush on her face disappeared, and Charlotte lifted her gaze to et Atlas’s.
"How should I tell you? You’ve never been honest with . You say you’re sincere but this sincerity is always shrouded, unattainable..." Charlotte’s tone was sowhat helpless, perhaps she and Atlas were destined to have no fate, leading to today’s situation.
She was already preparing to enter the Hallow Clan; before, she thought there was nothing wrong with invading the Hallow Clan, even considering leveraging external forces to relieve her angry heart, but such things happened.
He saved his own daughter rightly so, but their relationship beca subtly complex after uncovering Mia’s existence.
"My heart, you don’t need to take it; it’s always been in your hands." Atlas looked at Charlotte, grabbing her small hand and pressing it onto his beating heart: "It’s always been yours..."
His bold gesture made Charlotte shiver as if electrified, retracting her hand, her clear eyes fixed on Atlas: "I already have Rogers and Mia likes him too."
"What does he count for? Do you know the reason King wanted to take Mia away? He thought Mia was competing for Rogers Family’s wealth, an utterly ridiculous notion." Atlas said coldly, his face filled with contempt for the Rogers Family.
Mia was his daughter; she didn’t need any damn wealth.
"What does he count for? When I returned to the United States, my health was terrible. I couldn’t get out of bed, couldn’t catch a cold; even a sneeze could endanger Mia. It was during that ti I t Rogers; he took care of for eight whole months, Mia was born prematurely. When she was born, she was tiny, much smaller than a normal child, spending her early days in an incubator. Later, she moved to a sterile cabin because she was extrely allergic. Rogers was with her entirely. Do you call him anything?" Charlotte spoke word by word, her clear eyes unwaveringly facing Atlas.
He knew Charlotte had suffered, but hearing her recount those past events felt overwhelmingly unbearable, his face pale: "I’m sorry, but I didn’t know, when I heard the news about the miscarriage, I..."
His words choked in his throat, unable to finish.
That day in the warehouse, the cruel things he did to her flooded back to his mind; he had been terribly drunk, but hadn’t lost mory.
The two were very close, their breaths mingled together, her scent mixed with the heated breath escaping from his thin lips, making Charlotte feel like wanting to flee.
