The small garden of the apartnt where Atlas Hallow lived was lush with flowers and trees. It had strict entrance controls, so outsiders couldn’t get in, making it feel like it was just the two of them here, empty enough that even his words seed to echo.
"Since you already understand, why do you still want to do this?" Charlotte Miller looked at Atlas Hallow, her delicate eyebrows furrowing, a trace of exhaustion on her face accompanied by helplessness.
He risked his life to save Mia. If she claid not to be moved, she would be lying to herself, but it was only just moved. She didn’t want any further entanglent with him. This man was like a fierce poison; even a touch could be deadly.
"I can’t help but act; do you understand?" Light flickered in Atlas Hallow’s eyes, a visible hint of agitation.
Suppressing his emotions, he stepped forward and embraced Charlotte, speaking with a husky voice, "Charlotte, what will it take for you to forgive ? How can I exist in your world so you won’t hate ? Tell all your grievances and disappointnts—tell everything, and I will return every ounce to you, even at the cost of my life..."
In Atlas Hallow’s world, he never felt anything was arduous or challenging, except this one matter.
Facing this woman left him utterly helpless.
"This ti I’ve returned for three things: to help Mia with her health, to properly bury my father, and lastly, to acquire shares of the Hallow Clan. Atlas Hallow, you don’t need to let win. As I said before, let’s compete in the capital market." Charlotte was trapped in Atlas Hallow’s embrace, the familiar scent of him overwhelming her.
The searing body heat and solid chest, the strong and firm heartbeat resounding from his chest were all as before, yet she felt a sense of unfamiliarity.
"If you want them, I can give them all to you." Atlas Hallow still couldn’t understand why Charlotte was so determined to buy shares of the Hallow Clan.
Everything he had was hers, but she stubbornly persisted.
"I want to be your opponent, Atlas Hallow. This is my wish; if you don’t give your all, not only will you underestimate , but you’ll also make yourself worthless in my eyes." Charlotte broke free from his embrace, gazing up at Atlas Hallow’s distinctively chiseled face, hoping to truly challenge him.
She wanted to know if, after all her efforts, she could beco this man’s opponent.
"If this is truly what you wish, then as you wish, I won’t hold back." Atlas Hallow’s hand lightly touched Charlotte’s cheek; her skin remained delicate and lovely, yet lacked the bloom-like smile of before.
When she spoke to him, she always beca proper and earnest, as if discussing business with solemnity.
He understood Charlotte’s intentions; if she truly needed to spar with him, he wouldn’t hold back, as that was the least respect he owed her.
He should thoroughly teach her the dark and terrifying facets of the world because, after all these three years, no matter how outstanding she was, she was still protected by the Baird Family’s camouflage.
This ti, he wanted to truly teach her how to be a rchant, an invincible one.
Of course, the prerequisite was that she must experience a devastating defeat; thinking of this, Atlas felt sowhat reluctant, but if she wished to beco as strong as she hoped, she needed to face enough lessons.
If she lost, it truly didn’t matter; everything still could be his, right?
It’s just using his fortune to play a ga with her. Even if it ca to him losing, he could afford the loss.
"During this period, don’t interfere with my life." Charlotte said this with firmness; she needed enough space to calmly deal with Atlas Hallow. When he was present, her emotions always fluctuated, as though dangerous restless dark matters lurked within, even she couldn’t understand where these feelings arose from.
Listening to Charlotte’s words left Atlas Hallow’s heart in turmoil. He had already retreated step by step, rely wishing to satisfy her desires; yet even this was not enough for her?
The man’s strong arms tightened around her, pressing his forehead against hers, his voice filled with pain and helplessness: "What do I do with you?"
