Now reading: Chapter 469 - 253 Play to death, it’s on me from Bride of Retribution: Aloof Billionaire's Dominant Game, a Romance novel by Tang Moye.

Charlotte Miller didn’t really have a poor appetite; rather, she saw the matsutake rice and finished it all. The soup was clear, and the rice was authentic Japanese Hokkaido Koshihikari rice, making it feel light and delicious soaked, and she actually ate an entire bowl.

Once the bowl of rice was in her stomach, the sense of fullness rose instantly, and after eating sothing else, she started to feel a bit full.

Just as Charlotte put down her chopsticks, planning to pause before continuing, there were two knocks on the office door.

"Who would co at this ti? The elevator doesn’t reach our floor. Could soone know the password?" Annie Gray wondered aloud. After all, this floor can’t be accessed randomly; you need a password to reach it.

Charlotte considered whether Ethan had co back.

But she clearly sensed it wasn’t Ethan’s presence.

Ethan’s aura was very distinct, calm and rich, unlike this strong and sharp presence that also concealed a hint of coldness.

It was Atlas Hallow, it was definitely him.

She dared to bet a dollar with herself that only Atlas Hallow carried such an aggressively scented aura.

There was a distinct musk sll in the air that seeped through the crack of the door.

Charlotte watched Annie open the door, and what ca into view was a splash of fresh pink.

Next was Atlas Hallow in a black suit, with the bundle of roses looking even more tender and dripping thanks to the black contrast.

When the light hit the bundle of roses, a unique pin adorned the long stem with a dark green velvet bow tie.

Using a diamond pin as a flower arrangent accessory was truly extravagant.

Annie knew a little about jewels since Joseph Shaw liked to collect diamonds, so over the years she learned so jewelry basics while following him.

The pink diamond pinned on the chest should be the world’s most expensive pink diamond, likely around fifteen carats. Its color was undoubtedly top-grade fancy vivid pink, flawless, according to GIA grading. Along with the smaller white diamonds and eralds as embellishnts, it could buy half a street.

Such lavishness in gift-giving probably only matched a man like Atlas Hallow, right?

"President Hallow, please co in..." Annie gave a polite smile and invited Atlas Hallow inside.

For she glanced at Charlotte’s expression and noticed there wasn’t any opposition to letting Atlas Hallow in.

It might be because of the news from this morning; the two should have a good conversation to unify their stance to the outside world.

Right now, her presence here wasn’t very appropriate. The question was whether to tidy up the things on the table first.

"So lavish?" Atlas Hallow noted the delicate foods on the rectangular coffee table and sat beside Charlotte comfortably.

"President Hallow, if you haven’t dined yet and don’t mind, please have so. Though it’s all leftovers," Annie glanced at Charlotte’s expression, as a keen assistant must do.

President Miller’s face revealed nothing, and she quietly sat there. When the light hit the roses, the pin sparkled dazzlingly—sothing every woman would want, would scream at sight—but she still showed little expression.

She simply reached out to stroke her stomach, seeming a bit overwheld by eating too much.

"Of course I don’t mind. Assistant Gray, you can get off work now." Atlas Hallow picked up the pair of chopsticks in front of Charlotte and began eating gracefully.

Playing the host isn’t quite like this, is it?

He’s actually trying to kick her out of the office?

Annie gave an awkward smile, then turned to leave. She should step out and let them talk, but she wouldn’t go off duty.

She promised to stay up all night with Charlotte, and she wouldn’t leave even if Atlas Hallow stayed in Charlotte’s office all night.

After Annie closed the office door, Atlas Hallow spoke to Charlotte, "Why are you still in the office? Is work busy?"

There was a touch of sympathy in his deep, husky tone, understanding how much burden lay on the shoulders of this petite girl, and how much she didn’t want to express.

"Hmm..." Charlotte murmured softly, closing her eyes and leaning back into the sofa; she had a little ti left to rest.

In a while, she would need to take the stage.

In this battlefield, while it was not bloody or smoky, it was a completely different kind of competition.

She was just waiting for market opening, watching that disgusting website plunge.

Previously, Charlotte always considered herself kind-hearted, but today that notion was overturned—because she hadn’t been truly hurt.

To think of her daughter being endangered after being exposed, to think of Mia labeled as an illegitimate child, she seed desirous of returning the harm done to her daughter doubled over.

"Do not worry too much, I’ve already sent a lawyer’s letter, and all reports have stopped." Atlas Hallow placed down his chopsticks and pulled Charlotte’s cool delicate hand into his large palm.

Charlotte broke free, her downcast eyes carrying a hint of frustration.

"That day was an accident, I already have a fiancé..." Regardless of why she and Rogers ca together, it’s an undisputable fact that she is Rogers’ fiancée now.

She would control herself, as it was immoral otherwise.

"Then break off the engagent." On this matter, Atlas Hallow was domineering, leaving no room for retreat, speaking with complete certainty.

"Can we not talk about this right now?" Now she needed to focus on the night’s significant event, tangling over such matters with him would leave her exhausted.

"Alright..." Atlas Hallow said gently, watching her slightly weary little face, unwilling to pressure her.

Whatever she said was fine.

Since she had eaten raw food, Annie had already prepared ginger tea, poured two cups, and brought them inside.

Seeing Atlas Hallow’s good appetite, having already devoured the leftovers, she quickly placed the ginger tea on the table and began tidying, taking the items away.

anwhile, lighted sandalwood filled the room, the best sandalwood seemingly able to emit mysterious charm while absorbing lingering odors, truly magical.

Charlotte smiled and said thank you, once again feeling Joseph Shaw was a boss blind to talent, letting such an employee go was beyond words.

She sipped the ginger tea, letting the hot sensation lt into her stomach and dispel the cold.

Annie is not only a good assistant, but she would also be a good wife.

In this aspect, Charlotte knew she definitely fell short compared to Annie, whether it was with Atlas Hallow in the past or currently with Rogers without entering marriage yet, she hadn’t done her best.

The office was quiet, and Charlotte sat before the line of computers, calmness emanating from her.

It had begun...

In this world of killing, no visible blood is seen, yet the screen conveys a sense of pervasive grief.

Afraid of terrifying lawsuits and huge compensations, major equity-holding funds unanimously threw out the shares they held. Such dumping caused panic in the market, leading shares to drop faster.

Charlotte sat there, watching the shimring light in Atlas’s eyes, nearly radiating destructive brilliance...

Within her serene temperant lurked a commanding influence that made one unconsciously bow to her, speaking fluent and perfectly accented English with an enduring Oriental female mystique and sentint, providing steady and unhurried commands.

She believed that by the next morning, financial news would surely not be about any illegitimate child, but rather the largest decline XX website had faced since listing on the Nasdaq, with stock prices plunging nearly halfway.

"Are you also involved in this?" Charlotte watched the sequences of data fly by; previously, she needed to check seats and the like to deduce who was operating, but now she had evolved to identify people just by observing numbers.

Because each transaction carried obvious personal style, and the audacity and ruthlessness, intending to force soone into a desperate situation, likely only belonged to Atlas Hallow.

"Had you told earlier that you planned to play this tonight, I wouldn’t have intervened, so you could play to your heart’s content. No problem, I’ll take responsibility if anything goes wrong later..." Atlas Hallow stood behind Charlotte, lightly massaging her shoulder with his large palm; judging by her stiff sitting posture, perhaps she was too tired?

Letting anything go awry isn’t necessary, she can handle it herself.
