Avery Jane sat quietly listening.
When she first arrived, she was startled.
Nora Thompson was her senior at school. The two had participated in a club dedicated to learning homaking skills. Although both had cold personalities, they could converse well with each other, sharing a mutual understanding without openly acknowledging their acquaintance, only exchanging knowing glances.
Avery Jane knew Joshua Hughes had a large enterprise, but surprisingly, he ran a private bank.
From their conversation, she inferred that Nora could secure significant financing from his bank, as conditions were ripe and there was no risk involved. But why was this man refusing?
Avery Jane suddenly shivered; could he know about the relationship between Nora and her? Is this another tactic to threaten her?
Avery Jane furtively raised her head to look at Joshua Hughes, whose face appeared calm and unphased, showing no emotional fluctuation.
"Joshua, I heard you were here, so I ca over to take a look." The private room door opened, revealing Alexander King in a gray suit, smiling warmly.
Alexander King, at this mont, smiled triumphantly. He really did co to take a look, but not at Joshua Hughes, rather at Nora Thompson.
"Nora, you’re here too?" Alexander King feigned surprise, pretending he knew nothing.
Joshua Hughes’s lips curled into a smile, thinking the Oscars really owed Alexander King a golden statuette, for his eye movents and expressions were spot on.
Alexander King looked at his young wife, whom he hadn’t seen in days, pulled a chair, and sat down.
His young wife dressed formally, in a well-tailored beige dress, with a pearl necklace around her neck.
She seed to not care for diamonds, and he thought the gentle elegance of pearls suited her better; pearls and she were quite a match. Her father surely bought them, as knowing Nora’s character, she wouldn’t buy jewelry herself.
Nora slightly smiled as if she understood sothing but was still a little unclear.
"Nora, if you had sothing to discuss with Joshua, why not tell ?"
Alexander King smiled at Nora, seeing her fair and clean face, which was rather appealing.
"Just so business matter."
Nora’s poise was impeccable, even when facing him, she didn’t react as any normal woman might.
Like giving a cold stare, like ignoring him, like suddenly splashing water on him without warning.
After all, he was a heartless man, and she had every right to do so.
But she didn’t; his young wife greeted him casually and then ignored him.
Avery Jane was puzzled by the situation at the table. It seed Joshua’s refusal to sign Nora’s docunts wasn’t for her. Nora ntioned she was just married.
Is this man her husband?
But then looking at Mr. Chase sitting beside, his actions seed more like a husband would do.
He was using a little plier to crack open the bright, plump crab legs, extracting the at, and soon had a small plate ready, smiling warmly as he pushed it in front of Nora: "Charlotte, this is your favorite; I’ve had ginger tea prepared. Have a cup after eating, and then you’ll feel better."
Alexander King looked at the plate of crab at; what the hell! Wasn’t Abel Chase supposed to have returned overseas?
Why is he here shelling crabs for his wife?
"Nora, if you’re genuinely in a rush for financing, you don’t need to use land as collateral, I can be your guarantor, and I’m sure Joshua would always give face." Alexander King spoke with seriousness, glancing at Joshua for a response.
Abel Chase, that fool, there’s no need to be angry with him now, such opponents would be dealt with silently and unknowingly.
For now, let’s first settle matters with his young wife.
"No, thank you,"
Nora smiled slightly, pushing the folder in front of Joshua Hughes.
Avery Jane finally understood, another shaless man.
Why are n everywhere so shaless?
Must they use abnormal ans to deal with won?
Her senior was so kind and gentle, how did she end up eting such bad people? It’s utterly unfair.
Avery Jane thought angrily, these two n are truly colluding, a den of snakes and rats.
No wonder people always say, like attracts like, and people are divided into groups like this, neither of these two n are decent.
