So I checked it out imdiately, and indeed, they were old acquaintances.
That day, when Nora sent him a text out of the blue, it made him happy for half a day. But now it turns out he was completely overthinking it; she was just gathering intelligence and had no thoughts about him at all. Yet, like a fool, he was happy for so long.
"Will you expose ?" Nora asked, raising her eyes.
He understood so clearly. He even went to investigate her past; it was naturally impossible to hide it from him.
"Charlotte, you’re putting in a difficult position, you know? Joshua is my best brother, and he’s not doing well right now. I want to help him, but if I tell him it was you who helped Avery Jane and that you know where she is, he will certainly use all the most terrifying thods you can’t even imagine to make you hand her over. But you know I won’t tell him because I care about you, and I don’t want you to get hurt."
Alexander nearly groaned in pain, his husky voice filled with helplessness.
On one side is his good brother, and on the other is the woman he likes the most. What can he do?

Where there are old friends, there must be friends to help on the side. We must not sell our souls. We must live with strength, faith, and indomitable spirit. I don’t dare say I’m a hero or a righteous warrior, but at least I’m a friend of Avery Jane."
Her eyes were as bright as the shining moon, without a trace of impurity, making Alexander feel utterly exposed before her.
"But what about the consequences of this? Have you thought about the consequences?"
Alexander spoke in a low voice, unable to refute Nora’s words. When Nora said those words, her gaze was bright and clear, while he felt like a clown in front of her, with a hint of despicable disgrace as if he were aiding the wicked.
"I never think about the consequences. At most, I would personally dissolve the Thompson Clan. I could take my father to find a beautiful place to live together; it’s not necessarily a bad thing."
She said it with such ease, as if it didn’t matter if Isaac Thompson’s legacy was scattered for the sake of a friend from school. But is it really worth it?
Alexander began to consider whether it was worth it or not.
"Charlotte, have you ever thought about in your life?"
After thinking for a long ti, Alexander finally asked this question. It weighed on his heart like a boulder, making it almost impossible for him to breathe.
"You were once the person I thought I could spend my life with, but later I realized that what I was infatuated with was just a glamorous appearance."
Nora avoided his fiery eyes. Despite his past actions that hurt her heart, she wasn’t completely immune to him.
"Then don’t focus on those glamorous appearances. Charlotte, I hope you can understand better. I’m not as bad as you think."
Alexander said with frustration, feeling that in her heart, he was probably seen as a lecherous, promiscuous deceiver of won.
But isn’t seeking pleasure a normal man’s reaction?
He never intended to deceive her, but he felt wronged when Isaac used so unsavory things to force him to marry his daughter. However, he never imagined that the so-called bookworm everyone talked about was such a clean, delicate, and transcendent girl.
Nora smiled slightly. After finding that long hair on his clothes button, he had already beco soone from another world to her.
"Before marriage, no matter what you did, it didn’t matter because you weren’t responsible yet. For relationships, as long as both parties are willing, that’s enough. But after marriage, we made vows before God to be faithful and loyal. When you even lie in such a sacred place, it doesn’t matter how much more I understand you, and I don’t want to understand anymore."
The long strand of hair was like a fine, sharp wire, always cutting across her heart at unexpected monts. She once thought she was a very tolerant person, but still felt heartache over such mundane matters.
He’s such a fool. How could he think she’s not beautiful?
Now, she’s as pure as the bright moon in the sky yet so unreachable.
"How did you find out?"
He couldn’t help but ask. He’s always been careful in what he does, so much so that even Joshua Hughes sotis felt inadequate compared to him. Moreover, he did everything ticulously, leaving no trace. How could she have discovered it, especially within just a few days of marriage?
Nora was not a woman who would track others, nor was she a suspicious woman. So where was the problem?
She suddenly felt this man was laughably immature. How could a man commit such acts and still think he could deceive everyone?
"I have many things to do today; you should leave first."
She sighed softly, gesturing for him to go back.
"Is it because I didn’t touch you that you beca suspicious?"
Alexander didn’t leave; instead, he stepped closer, leaning his hands on her desk, asking hoarsely.
This question was too sensitive, but he wanted to know how he was ultimately exposed.
"No, only when a woman opens the door to desire will she beco unable to resist ** and beco infatuated. I am not a woman unsatisfied with desire. You’re too confident.
